  1. nope' date=' not really.

    the only thing that could be 'non-nudie' would be the stitching at the hem

    [/quote']

    funny, i was going to say the opposite: one of nudie's trademarks seems to be the "trailing-off" chainstitch at the hem. this is clearly visible in the pictures above.

    the rise is low enough to make them Ola's' date=' but the bootcut is almost non-existant

    [/quote']

    Olas don't have much of a bootcut to begin with, but the coin pocket placement is all wrong for a pair of Olas, as is the hue of the denim.

    they don't look all that interesting

    i guess i was expecting some kind of crazy veggie-indigo kind of look with the DO models' date=' but meh[/quote']

    QFT. i have no idea what these actually are, but in their current state they're pretty uninteresting to look at... moar wear plz ;)

  2. for the last month or so, i've occasionally had time to ask myself:

    "why don't you post on superfuture much any more, 'pony?"

    wonder i might, but i couldn't put my finger on it.

    i've been lurking, reading, scanning, anticipating the doubleworks pre-order, and oh-so-rarely chuckling to myself, but i couldn't really bring myself to participate in the collective as actively as i used to...

    i'd like to thank this absolutely fucktarded thread for giving me the answer i've been seeking.

  3. i use the purple ones in my running shoes, and the green ones in my work and hiking boots. they're quite similar, with the major differences being:

    • green is lower volume than purple
    • green uses a synthetic cork padding up front and purple uses a higher impact eva foam

    zappos isn't the cheapest place to get them, but with free shipping on orders and returns, it's a zero-risk transaction...

  4. i can't recommend downunders footbeds enough. i don't wear them in dress shoes, but i rotate four or five pairs throughout all my athletic shoes, work boots, etc.

    they're very stable without being bulky, they're moderately priced, and they last a really long time.

  5. i pawned my visiting grandma off on my brother (she had to ride in his shitty, smoke-filled tacoma) after going out to dinner so i could pull a number off this smoking-hot 40 year old cougar...

  6. My dryer has a static shelf that allows you to lay a pair of pants or sweater down and have the barrel of the dryer tumble around it. You get all the heat, but not any of the abuse the dryer can inflict on more delicate fabrics.

    mine has the same thing, but i've never used it... doesn't it take much longer to dry anything?

  7. there is no such relationship between weight and shrinkage.

    Hotter water, more shrinkage. Heat from a dryer will also increase shrinkage. Tumble drying seems to help even more.

    agreed - weight has very little bearing.

    however, tightness of weave will have a significant effect on shrinkage; i.e. looser woven denims will shrink much more than tightly woven denims.

  8. durrr...

    i dropped out of trout squad;

    then i quit the animated avatar alliance;

    [i'd previously quit an MBA program, a karate class when i was 8, and numerous romantic relationships];

    i guess i'm back in -- i do love to eat fish.

  9. wow thats awesome. did you order directly from the SF shop?

    yep, called them up and ordered directly. (btw, when i said "same price" i meant the same price as the ravello bluchers from the shoe mart, not the same price as the on-sale lug-sole ones you mentioned earlier...)

  10. thanks tarmac and skalogre. shoemart was actually sold out of the the 6-eye ravello bluchers, and the factory won't be making more for at least a year...

    i ended up going with the SF alden shop version of the 2160 (pictured above) in cigar cordo for the same price.

    can't wait to get them; pics when i do!

  11. I'm thinking about getting a pair of the 14.5 ounce straight fits. I already posted this in the this or that thread with no avail; so im wondering if anyone knows the fit of those compared to 47' lvc's. I currently have those and i just want to know so i can decide on the correct size. my 47 lvc's are a 36X34 and are unfortunately to loose for me now because i lost weight.

    fit is going to be very different -- lower rise, no anti-fit seat, straighter, slimmer leg.

    my recollection is that somet's biggest size is a 35. you can get actual measurements on their website, or read back through this thread for sizing info.

  12. Are those cordovans? At SF Alden shop they had the cordovan cap toe blucher with lug sole on sale for $399. They looked spectacular.

    and yeah you can wear them with jeans. I wear pretty much all my dress shoes with jeans except black wholecuts.

    They're a 6-eye blucher in ravello cordovan, leather sole - part of the bootmaker's special editions at shoe mart.

    did the SF shop have them just in the stock #8 and black colors? or anything in the cigar/ravello/whiskey range? (their website doesn't seem to show anything other than the standard alden range).

  13. very close to picking up a pair of alden cap toe bluchers from theshoemart.com, but i wanted to get a quick opinion survey first...

    the issue isn't so much "are these cool/quality/worth the money" (the answer is yes/yes/yes), but more a question of use: i'm buying the shoes, first and foremost, for a wedding this august. i was just fit for a beautiful MTM ravazzolo suit (being made as we speak in vicenza), and i know these will pair with it very well... but if i'm going to be dropping ~$500 on a pair of shoes, i want to be able to wear them more than just for formal occasions. my day job requires "business casual" (barf) dress, so i usually go with wallys and khakis. after work and weekends it's jeans w/ boots, tennis shoes, or the wallys.

    is a shoe of this caliber appropriate to wear with jeans? khakis? should i just buy something more utilitarian?

    thanks!

  14. My friend ex-girl used to bartend in Providence RI. She was a skinny white girl with blonde dreads down to her ass, who worked in a cheesy nightspot in which "pimpjuice" and the afformentioned "Incredible Hulk" were the most popular drinks.

    is pimpjuice still around?

    i wrote to nelly (err.. whatever company makes his p-juice) about four years ago and got them to send me two cases for free for a party. threw in all this swag, too -- shitty trucker caps, stickers, XXXXL sized t-shirts. it was awesome.

    then we got some of lill jon's krunk juice, too and did a what'll get you fucked-uppeder faster trial. i think pimpjuice was the crowd favorite.

    a word on brandies and cognacs: for your money, look into some domestic small batch producers (ex. germain robin in northern, ca). or, if you want your shit french, read up on armagnacs instead.
