  1. "Yes, it's all about the dialogue. This is a thread where we post pictures of ourselves... there's nothing but vanity in it. So us talking and joking around casually with this content seems very natural. Plus, it's how we bond. How else am I so close to Sycamore..."

I am in complete agree ment with you sir, and I agree with the poster who said they should make a proper gallery if that is what they want.

  2. Why else would someone post their picture if it is not to get a reaction. You can look in the little camera window and see what you look like without posting it. Are you saying that everyone wants to read every post or quote that pertains to someone else's picture other than their own or are you saying that people post their outfits up for no other reason than to create an everlasting, altruistic archive of fashion for the owners of Superfuture? Which part is not true. Do tell! I am truly interested, not being inflamatory at all I hope. I just think there is some reinforcing reason why this thread has gotten so big and I think it may because of the dialogue it creates.

  3. everyone ignores the dialogue unless it is directed to their own pics (for the most part). Getting reactions to your outfit is why people post in the first place. So what people are saying is I don't want to read it unless it is about me.

  4. i try to avoid the phone entirely. i dont pick up the phone unless they leave a message. and even then, i only pick it up if its adriana lima or my mistress in vietnam.

same here, I have 1000 minutes on my plan and I rarely ever go over 100 minutes per month. I absolutely am struck dumb when I have to talk on the phone, it is really difficult for me.

  5. I remember seeing photos of these incredibly old Barbour jackets that had just been worn to death and they were simply gorgeous.

this is the exact one I got for $26 bucks plus tax. top left the one with the oil treatment.

  6. I was sitting in an airport yesterday on my way home when reading the latest issue of GQ brought to my attention how much of a pain in the ass it is travelling with work.

I was way too early for my flight, so I was standing about with a stupid holdall that I took with me as it was pretty small and (I thought) would fit everything I needed. I had a small stussy everyday bag that I use to carry my usual shit (wallet / ipod / camera / notebook / keys etc etc). Not only was I too hot as my peacoat wouldn't fit in my bag but I looked like it was my first time travelling standing about with so much crap around me.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a bag / bags that can be used to carry essentials for going away for a few days. I'm starting to travel a lot more with my work, a few days here and there about Europe so it needs to be big enough to carry a few days worth of stuff, including a suit so it can't really be chucked into a holdall and maybe a seperate bag for my everyday stuff including a laptop which is not massively bulky.

I got myself really pissed off as the mag had the usual £1000 LV bags, which I wouldn't and cant afford to go anywhere near.

So come on, I know a lot of you guys travel, what do you use, got any tips for making the whole experience a lot easier......lets hear your stories.

I used to be consultant for Ernst and Young and had to fly everywhere and I pretty much did what you are doing now. I avoided checking my luggage for the usual reasons and just packed light with a small suitcase with wheels that would fit in overhead and a small shoulder bag with my laptop, essentials etc. I would reccomend a less cumbersome coat, maybe a puffy type that can be rolled up tight and then strapped to the top of your suitcase with an elastic band. Dealing with a coat is the worst part.

  7. Just got some Helmut Lang jeans from 1997 for $5.99 ($17.50 including shipping) on ebay... I hope they fit, they were in the women's jeans section so I might have to cut my dick and balls off.

    demin devotionHard Candy style?

  8. Shit man....where the hell are you getting internet access?

I still have a job, just no house. It is warm in here. Think I will work some overtime today.

"Shit man, I'm just waiting for the sun to shine"

Last night I parked in a apartment complex to sleep, I put my car cover over my car and quietly slipped back under it and into my air matress for a very decent nights sleep. A little cold, but doable. I am going to have to switch it up tonight, don't want to wear out my unwelcome. S501XX, have not had them off in 5 days. No stink.

  9. I have been bathing in a sink at a gas station for 5 days. I cut all my hair off so I no longer have to comb it. I feel like Travis Bickle.

"The days go on and on... they don't end. All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go."

  10. man I remember wearing my first barbour jacket 8th-9th grade and understandably, nobody knew what it was. I loved it so much that I have a new one that fits me a little better (now at age 20, nobody knows the significance, but how could I expect that). the only downside is that I'm incredibly afraid to wear it more frequently because people might notice/comment on the musty smell of the waxed fabric. but damn, they look sharp. congrats on the pickup

edit: i just went to go look for it, panicked when I couldn't. then I opened up my closet and found it on the ground. totally wearing this tomorrow. thanks for reminding me! btw, it's the Bedale model

You are welcome. I have read about the musty smell you are speaking of and have heard other talk about it but mine has no smell at all. Maybe after some use it might pick up an odor? I like the Bedale model.

  11. damnlam -- that's incredible. Post some pictures of your International...show it off!

I ran across a post on the other SF detailing a similar Barbour thrift acquisition while I was digging up some info on the Bedale. Was that you?

Yup, I think it was. The old one I had and sold (kick myself harshly) was either a Bedale or Beaufort) I can't remember which.

The one I have now is similar to the one McQueen is wearing above. Even though it is said that this one is a Belstaff, Belstaff did not have the slanted chest pocket that is one my jacket and clearly seen on the above photo. I left my freaking camera in Florida because I road a greyhound back from christmas vacation and did not want to get jacked as I was in some pretty sketchy neighborhoods coming back (greyhound stations in the deep south at 3:00 am can be fucking HAIRY. I can no longer fly due to combat phobia (former flight crew on attack helo). So no pics, sorry.

  12. how warm are the barbour coats? for ex. a beaufort or a bedale...

Well, it has been about 20-30 F. here in North Texas and I find it to be quite warm with a Sweatshirt on under it. They (my new one) has a tartan cotton lining and it is a very heavy weight waxed cotton. You can purchase an alpaca liner for it that I am sure would make it good for colder. It ain't a subzero coat but it will do for most cold/rainy weather. I think it would probably be too hot for like summer or spring rain gear. Mine has no hood and it has a mandarine style riding collar so that limits it for really windy weather, but I am just going to use a hat and scarf with it. I think the beaufort was kind of midweight cotton if I remember correctly but it was still pretty warm
