  1. Sometimes but to find the older Valencia St stuff e-bay is a good place.

    Aero Leather Scotland carries LVC.

LVC stuff in the US is usually more limited to the stuff you can find in Europe or Japan. It just doesn't sell in the US like it does in other markets. This is according to one of the managers at the Levis store on Mich Ave Chicago.

Heres a guy from Germany that sells LVC stuff. Some raw NWT.

I have ordered 4 pairs of jeans from this guy (Cultizm) and I can vouch for his unparalled service, quick shipping and friendly email correspondence. He will soon be opening an online store and has a nice page started. His prices are really very reasonable, I paid just over $200 for my Nudies (RRDS) and this included shipping in 8 days.

  2. I still love this one:

When receiving shitty service at a restaurant...put two quarter in full water glass. Put menu or placard over glass, flip glass over onto the table and slide out the menu. Then of course...haul ass.

  3. For real cheap but fairly close to everything...The Bourbon Street..man it's cheesy and kind of run down though. Saw some lame made for TV Steven Segal movie on cable the other day where there was a 5 minute car chase and during the chase they passed the Bourbon St. hotel Casino like 10 times...(must of been the cheapest street that they could close down for filming).

Be prepared to spend a fucking grip if you want to have a good time. Going to Vegas underfunded is like sitting in the very back of a crowded titty bar with 3 singles in your pocket...it's kind of like a dry hump.

  4. when on crowded things, I aprreciate a book or music or something to keep me from being annoyed by external stimuli, but at home I rarely have any of those things, if anything I sit there and knit and think.

knitting and thinking...an excellent combination...that is what I am talking about, reflection, pondering the meaning of things and experiences...not often easy but productive and enriching and definately not a waste of time. I have gleened one thing from this discourse...apparrently this addiction to stimuli is cyclical and can be attributed to the lack of suitable, serene environments that encourage deep thought and demand an equal distraction and thus creating more distraction. FUCK....

  5. I think some are missing the point here...why is it not possible to just forego reading, listening, watching or otherwise relying on external stimuli during every waking hour. Quiet reflection, comtemplation or just plain old sit down, shut up and have some manners and quit bothering everyone around you with you batman utility belt of external stimuli devices. Is this not possible? Surely I am not the only one who finds it inconceivable that one can sit quietly for a 4 hour plane ride without junking out on something other than quiet relaxation of the mind? I am not trying to offend anyone, I just wonder what some would do if they were transported to ancient era before micro electronics...you know 15 years ago. I remember a time when people sat quietly on the bus, plane, restaurant, library without some device going off or otherwise distracting everyone around them and I am not even 40 years old. My cubicle neighbor listens to her Ipod all day at work while under her breath (out of tune mind you because she can' t hear it) humming away while simultaneouly driving me out of my very sanity. Rant over, I promise this time.

  6. I dig that Jubetwo jacket, I wish I could fit into something like that but alas, if they made one that would fit my chest, the arms would go down past my knees. I love the fitted look but I can never find anything (jacket shirt etc) that has the correct proportions. Everything that fits me with the right lengths looks like a box.

  7. So, I ask...because of the new terror alert my office has 3 people flying out for vac. time today and they have been told that they will not be allowed to take their Ipods on board with them. This has been a heated conversation for about the last 45 minutes in here. When did it become so impossible for people (from children all the way up to adults) to SIT FUCKING QUIETLY WITH THEIR THOUGHTS....without having music piped into their heads or cell phones or video games...Jesus you would think these people are going to die by the way they are carrying on. Kids come into my laundry mat and because there is no one constantly attending to their every need they act like little whining brats. Comments? Rant OVER.

  8. judging from both the features and the number on the tag (445010161), it's a 501 1944 repro. LVC generally puts the vintage year before 501, so that's one quick way of id'ing.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the 555 indicates that it was made in the Valencia St. factory (which, to many, is a highly desirable trait).

That's about all this amateur knows... anything else I'm missing?

Those are definately 44s and an early pair because the don't have the shirt material pockets. The tag on 44s is usually leather and that makes me suspect as this appears to have a paper waist tag. The 555 does means Valencia St. They look pretty nice though. I'd wear them, I love the 44 fit. The painted on arcuates are pretty well gone and it looks kinda cool that way.

  9. Probably LVC S501xx 1944. Best overall fit of the LVC for my body type. I sold all my 551ZXX because the zipper was just too suspect for me and I had visions of getting them just right and blowing out the damn zipper. For fit alone I would have to say my new Nudies but I just don't know how that style would hold up in the long run. The LVC are just so timeless.

  10. This isn't something that I'm actually wearing, it's way too hot and I'm just experimenting. The perspective is a bit skewed because the camera was leaning backwards. I'm not as fat as I look :)

Because I'm insane I spent a great deal of time when abroad thinking about a cool outfit for the fall, and these are the two drafts I came up with!

    Number one:

    1.jpg

    H&M shades

    Ralph Lauren shirt (purple checks)

Vest and jacket (part of suit), second hand

    Racing gloves (hellooooo trend victim)

    Acne Mod Dry Clean jeans

    Acne belt, burgundy

    Jodphurs, burgundy

What needs improvement: Get brown jodphurs + belt to match shades, gloves and the brown pattern in the suit (pictures below)

    Number two:

    2.jpg

    3.jpg

    Same except...

    Stenström shirt

    Skinny paisley tie

    Jeans, limited Lee Whizzler

    Clark's desert boots

    Thoughts?

Cool!!!! I like it. The boots are a nice touch as well. (Both pair actually)

  11. I am glad that my favorite brands are not avaliable at the mall. Part of the fun is the aquisition, part of the appeal is the exclusivity. Just as you must work hard to get the result in dry denim, so must you work hard to aquire them. 2 cents

  12. When I was married my wife took baths exclusively and would have assasinated me in my sleep had I urinated in the tub. In my opinion this is bad form, you bathe in the shower and piss in the toilet. I agree that toilet paper is insufficient for post defacation/urination and urinals are crass.
