  1. Never seen any ACR in person, but let me ask this. If their clothes are so dope, and such top of the line outerwear, unparalleld by near anyone in the game, why is it that all of the people I know who are serious climbers and hikers have never heard of them? (and I don't mean bouldering and trail running). Not trying to attack the brand, more interested in what it is that seperates them from the rest of the pack OTHER than a keen sense for FASHION FORWARD design. Most people queing up for an "invitation only pre-sale" on the internet will prolly not be summiting Denali, dog-sledding in Nome, or Winter trekking in northern europe. they will be walking around cities and possibly taking a ride up the lift here and there. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that at face, but the whole hubub smacks of some serious bullshit. If they are merely attempting a design oriented take on traditional mountainwear with top of the line materials and bomb proof constuction that is fine, but recognize that shit for what it is...FASHION. I know that one of the dudes used to design for arc teryx, and it shows in both the companies products. In my mind, Arcteryx is a slightly better designed sleeker take on Patagonia, who just yesterday gave me a fresh new all black three layer gore-tex no questions asked when I brought in an old one with a slight problem. That to me, is an example of an "unparralled commitment" to mountaineering as well as the casual use types.

And on a last note...who the fuck wears a gore-tex blazer into the wilderness...and a trenchcoat...you must be kidding...that had me laughing in my chair. If it looks good and is really as well put together as I hear, then so be it, those who can afford the styling and attention to detail will. I just get a bit agro when I start to feel like "quality" is becoming an unreasonable excuse to spend massive amounts of money, when what we all really want is to be dipped in the latest, flyest gear that no one else has...

  2. I saw a new movie called Sorry, Haters. Making any comment on it would ruin it however, it was, in my opinion very good.

Co-Sign on 'Searching for The Wrong Eyed Jesus". Being from North Florida I can definately attest to it's authenticity and although hard to watch at times, it was brutally honest.

  3. I think it has to do with their basic business model. Some stores can't afford to have anything on their shelf that does not fly out pretty quickly. Shelf space is reserved for units that turn over quickly and LVC probably would not move as quickly as 3 or 4 pairs of STFs that take up the same space. Just a guess because I am certainly no expert on that subject.

  4. I have the cane 47s and the LVC 47s and I like the fit of the LVCs better. The canes 47s are definately fuller through the leg and the leg opening on my pair is over an inch wider than that of the LVC 47. I prefer the color of the denim in the canes a bit more but it does not compensate for the better fit of the LVCs. My opinion. To be honest I like my LVC 44s better than either pair of the 47s. I am a short fucker 5' 7" and the big leg opening makes me look a bit squat and this accounts for my preferance.

  5. Yeah, I gotta say out of them all he was my favorite, he died the same day my first wife asked for a divorce. I miss Stevie Ray waaaayyyyy worse than I miss her trifling ass.

I gotta add one, and I actually have not seen him yet but hope to soon:

Dan Auerbach sp? from The Black Keys, man he is a smokin slide player.

  6. I guess I am just not keeping up with it but I just don't dig the fit of those jeans at all. That tight around the calf thing just looks all out of proportion to me, really ugly. I do not think that fit is for everybody like the article says. Some definately can pull it off well but most people just ain't going to look good wearing that. If you have athletic or muscular thighs, those jeans are going to look very strange.
