a Reunion brand work shirt with J.L. Stifel fabric recently went for $7100 on Ebay.
It's not mentioned on their page but from what I understand the Fine Arts Center donated by the Stifel family houses a impressive collection of their indigo calico print textiles.

So I had the tongue protectors from my wesco boots which I didnt think I'd need. And I got a brand new pair of 8111 yesterday, and I got it into my mind to put the tongues from the wesco on the red wings. What do you think? I kind of like the two-tone:

i wouldn't. i do think the Wesco false tongue is the most aesthetically pleasing of the false tongues however i don't think it works well with this boot.

Millyard Museum at the old Amoskeag Mill worth the trip? I was in Manchester a few weeks back but didn't have time to stop at the Museum.
Lowell is a fucked up depressed little town. Spent a few days there about 10 years ago. Dude walking right down the middle of the street (Dutton) at 2am shirtless with a gigantic (maybe 6-8') snake around his neck, followed that up with some toothless middle aged guy in a sooty coverall suit coming out of an alley asking how much for a little time with my girlfriend.
While in Lowell travel 20 miles east to Danvers to check out the abandoned Danvers State Hospital. Inspiration for Lovecraft's Arkham Sanitarium. One of creepiest places I have ever seen.
Might be demolished now.

Hell's Angels were founded in 1950 ruling out the 40's and for the denim on the left they could be any number of brands that were around at the time that didn't have arcs. Pocket placement also maybe a little high for Levi's. Remember that people (especially broke ass Hell's Angels) tended to wear their clothes until they fell apart and stores held onto stock until it sold so it wouldn't be unlikely to see 30's or 40's clothes on someone in the 50's or 60's.
Lack of a death's head patch and sleeves still intact makes me think this could be a Hell's Angels copycat club..many of which popped up in the mid-60's wearing bootleg Angel's colors...it's a stretch....guess we will never know the truth.
Let us know how Sonny's book is. Been thinking about reading it myself.
No sweat . I think the 506xx jackets and what appears to be ww2 501xx (guy on far left ) probably date the pics to late 40s . The couple in the colours are wearing post ww2 501xx too .I have also been reading up on the Hells Angels also , I have just bought the Sonny Barger book of ebay . The 50s/60s counter cullture fascinates me and clothes were amazing . However , regardless of era , the pics posted recently on this thread are great . Thankyou to mainly SFTD and yourself for taking the time to search and post these .

ON EBAY 45rpm Vintage Blanket Flannel Shirt . Worn a couple times. Tagged size 4 Medium. Zimbabwe cotton flannel with nylon on the inside of the yoke and cuff. Blue fabric is indigo dyed and will fade over time. Leather and water buffalo horn buttons. Cut a little big like a shirt jacket. . . New at almost $500. Made in Japan.

distressed Umii908 ($840 or so...can't remember). these were standard denim for about 3 years just recently discontinued. also available in a one wash for $739. hand dyed in japanese aizome plant indigo. suvin cotton. lee style with shield shaped pockets placed close to the outseam. long rise both front and rear.

from Hunter Thompson's "Hell's Angels"...
"every Angel recruit comes to his initiation wearing a new pair of Levis and a matching jacket with the sleeves cut off and a spotless emblem on the back. The ceremony varies from one chapter to another but the main feature is always the defiling of the initiate's new uniform. A bucket of dung and urine will be collected during the meeting, then poured on the newcomer's head in a solemn baptismal. These are are his "originals", to be worn every day until they rot. The Levi's are dipped in oil, then hung out to dry in the sun- or left under the motorcycle at night to absorb the crankcase drippings. When they become too ragged to be functional, they are worn over other newer Levi's. Many of these jackets are so dirty that the colors are barely visible, but they are discarded until they literally fall apart. The condition of the "originals" is a sign of status. It takes a year or two before they get ripe enough to make a man feel he has really made the grade."
