  2. of course they had to go ahead and dumbup the US version with lousy branded hardware and the IMO nasty lower heel. give us the classic engineer with the scalloped heel and simple hardware (2268) they have been making for the past 70 years but now for the past decade only for Japan.

Some new Red Wings for you guys to oogle over! This is a new engineer model for 2009. Avail. in black, brown, and shown here in the burnt orange roughout. My favorite thing about them is that they are on a new, low profile sole. It is actually the same nitrite cork sole and heel that are used on the Iron Ranger....

  3. you can custom order them direct from Russell Moccasin. They are one of the friendliest and most helpful companies I have dealt with in some time. They offer quite a few leathers and also custom makeups not on their website or in their catalog... they were willing to work with just about any idea I could put together for a pair of boots.

  4. don't forget the textile collectors who go nuts for turn of the century stifel calico and wabash stripes. these shirts do turn up but this is in amazing condition for its age which I am sure interested Larry from Heller's who seems to go after already incredibly rare vintage pieces in deadstock or minty condition. amazing shirt that i am sure a exact repro of will end up as a future Heller's Cafe/Warehouse piece.

Funny - I had that jacket in my watch list! I think it was a confluence of bidders. Train-aficionados were watching it because of the train connection, and vintage collectors were watching it also.

Generally speaking, price goes up a LOT when there is a mixture of multiple types of collectors bidding on something. For example, a model train with mickey mouse branding will get both Disney collectors and train collectors and hence get more bidders than just a regular antique model train...
