  1. went to six scents opening with a few other people from here.

kind of disappointed in everything i sampled.

damir doma's was accurately described as a typical CDG-style incense without the kick or twist to it.

    henrik vibskov was eh.

the only moderately interesting fragrance was richard nicoll's, which

started off with a great mix of soap and super lush greenery but then became sort of chalky and mundane after a drydown.

  2. Onemancult: not very hard, just look at the fabric details on the tags, a lot of ish uses less than noble fabrics: elastane, polyamide, acrylic..etc... including the cashmeres.

somewhere along the line this silly idea came along that only natural fibers are good and synthetics are some sort of great satan to the fashion industry and can never ever be admitted into the pantheon of well-made clothing, when the fact is, youre much more likely to come across cheaply-produced cotton that isnt worth the money than you are to come across a modern iteration of something like polyamide which is often completely color-fast and resistant to abrasion, fraying, and tearing due to years and years of development and testing and refining.

there is nothing inherently ignoble about synthetics, especially with a company like uniqlo that has access to some incredible synthetics. everyone bitches about the fake leather in stores now, but that is probably some of the best fake leather on the market today.

i fully respect the intersection between being cost-conscious, making afforadable clothing that is designed well, and textile innovation.

  3. i would again like to go to bat for uniqlo and jil sander and say stfu.

you are getting slightly more than what you paid for.

i defy you to provide substantiated evidence that the quality is sub par.

using your subjective taste and preconceived notions to judge something

that is easily objectively verifiable is just foolish -- if the fabric is so sub par, explain why. double. dog. dare. you.

  4. i really, really wonder hard if the people posting subtle gripes about the quality of +J clothing have any understanding whatsoever of fabric and garment construction. i and a couple of friends went over my flannel blazer stitch by stitch and the most offensive thing we could find was some lining puckering near hem, which happens in a huge majority of machine-finished pieces where a heavier fabric is lined with a lighter fabric.

  5. real wings. none of this "buffalo chicken tenders" business.

    Maybe potato skins or nachos.

whats the beef with buffalo chicken tenders or boneless wings?

i personally hate buffalo wings; the value is retarded for fucking

meat scraps and bones. give me a heaping pile of chicken titty

meat breaded all crispy and doused in the hottest sauce you got

    and im going in.

  6. If anyone is looking for trade a size small Ervell sweater for a Medium - I got a super nice blue alpaca crew neck pocket sweater in a Medium that is too big for me. Shoot me a message if you're interested.

Also, I got a navy quilted windbreaker in a small that I'm probably going to sell.

was that the sample one for 110 dollars?

i left it behind on friday but i cant stop thinking about it.

the weave is really loose on it and its retarded soft, right?

  7. yeah, you were probably got there too late. It was already crowded when I got there at 12:20? Most of the nice/interesting knits were gone. Did not see any size small in jackets. There were a few smalls in sweaters and cardigans. Some summer jeans and winter pants.

Saw omc. Man, he's quick. Came in and got what he wanted and left.

thought i recognized you; sup dude. i went in there stalkerstyle cuz i had a girlyfriend waiting for me who was shopping for +J.

people ran in at noon for reals and grabbed all the smaller stuff. it was kinda wild. dudes had girls with them on the attack and shit.

  8. ervell sale, as per usual, is the best designer-specific sample sale ever -- if you go when it opens at noon.

dont know what fall/winter stuff you saw that was priced so high, blazers and outerwear perhaps? if so, those are fair prices. there

was a sample of the navy pocket sweater that bblessing is stocking

for 110 that i almost bought, but its too chunky of a sweater for my tastes. but it was absolutely gorgeous.

excellent size range of knits from spring and last fall in most sizes,

snapped up a blue-grey shawl cardigan from last spring for 80 bucks.

pants were either runway samples in a 30 waist or "larger" sizes, which doesnt actually mean larger sizes: a 34 ervell is more like a 32.5.

they had the printed shirt from this season for 100 dollars, size medium. nice range of shirting from this season and spring; picked

up the buttondown sleep shirt [club collar with silk grosgrain piping] for FIFTY DOLLARS because of a tiny stain on the shoulder. oxicleaned it when i got home and it came right out. so awesome.

finally, selection of accessories: clarks shoes from the runway and common projects from the runway in sample sizes [9 and 10], plus

sol moscot sunglasses from the runway. picked up the CPs for 200 [were 600 on oki ni or tresbien or one of those] and fuuuuuuck are they nice.

  9. the 3 in jersey and the 1 in the upper west side were never intended to be permanent -- they were always intending to shut those down after the flagship had cemented its roots, just like the initial soho pop up store.

this is not an issue about them being able to keep stores open or not being able to get their stuff together. they've got a plan theyre sticking to, and they're sticking to it quite well.

uniqlo would do awful in los angeles -- i cant believe you even suggested that. it takes two seconds to think about how bad of an idea that is considering trends in los angeles and the weather.
