  1. it may be a possession in the 4th degree but you still wanna run the risk of having the pain in the ass of dealing with the cops?? probably not, they're most likely gonna harass you

especially in new york city man, on top of that you're in the bx -- bad business my friend, the only people who carry a switch and do anything with it are some thuggish ruggish heads

im not trying to come down on you for it man, im just saying the coppers in nyc are NOT exactly cool people when it comes to deadly weapons...

just my .02 ... get a nice multitool or get a non assisted knife like you said

would never do a multitool... looking into an unassisted knife... i used to carry a switch when i was younger for the fuck of it and never got popped... decisions decisions.

  2. possession in the 4th, as far as i know, but they have to prove unlawful intent. i could quite seriously just say that i purchased it as a collector and am taking it home, and the worst they can do is confiscate it.

considering buying a similar knife without the spring assist from the same place i got this one from just in case i end up pussying out, but i'm going to keep this in my pocket for a few days and see how i feel.

  3. fuck an apple pie. FUCK AN APPLE PIE, YOU KNOW WHY?

because somewhere in this world, mcdonald's makes this thing:

    20091229-mcds-pie.jpg

holiday pie. reportedly tastes like someone took cake icing and baked it into a crispycreamy log. i need this in my life.

  4. pigs can take it away if they really want to. they used to check my bags at wtc subway all the time and some cock took my super tiny swiss army. blade was like 1 inch.

get the knife. fuck the police.

yeah, i figured during a stop and search that would happen- cops are mostly dicks and the law here says they can confiscate at will but can only arrest if there's criminal intent- but i'd keep this concealed somewhere on me instead of a bag anyway... not too concerned, really.

the knife's paid for, being fixed right now. my local cobbler just up and had five knives lying around for sale at his shop, all vintage italian-made stilettos.

picked up a smaller-sized one with a royal blue handle for 15 bucks.

  5. out of curiosity, do any of you guys check up on the legality of the knives you carry around, or are you not that concerned?

just wondering because i came across an offer i couldn't pass up on a really great knife that kind of skirts the limits of legality here in nyc, but i'm still planning on carrying it around.

  6. the UJ jeans feel way, way cheaper than their usual denim. the fabric's softer hand is a result of them using a lighter weight denim, the cut's been improved, but i guarantee you will blow through the crotch faster than usual.

i mean, does it not strike you as odd that theyre retail priced a full twenty dollars cheaper than their old denim?

    think, people. please.

  7. uniqlo is having skinny jeans on sale for 19.90 for men and women this friday, not the entire week. if you want jeans, go friday. not sure which skinny model they'll be discounting for men. there's a newspaper ad thats' been running since black friday with this info, im sure it can be found online too.

  8. This happens in a lot of fast food chains in big metropolitan cities (NYC, SF, etc.) I've always assumed it had to do with keeping the homeless away.

    keeping...the... homeless...away... are you serious?

THAT was the first thing you assumed when you thought of why major fast food chains charge more in metropolitan areas?

the concept of real estate doesnt exist in your world, does it?

it is more expensive in bigger cities because of RENT. RENT HAS TO GET PAID. even in new york city, a manhattan mcdonald's will have higher prices than a queens mcdonald's.

wow. wowie wow wow. moving on...

  9. I haven't bothered reading the SZ thread.... but for me, Ervell has always seemed like a man immersed in an American way of life, but forever an outsider looking in.........In the shit, but not of the shit....if you take my meaning. His design aesthetic doesn't strike me as hyper-American at all...or of a man with some kind of continental love-affair....not nearly as much as some people seem to think. It's plain to see more of a British shoe-gazer aesthetic in his clothing (which he has openly stated to be a major and continual source of inspiration for his designs) Lets not forget that the "shoegazer look" is a late 80's, early 90's British altrock look. Splash a little bit of American ingenuity and a dash of Swedish common sense, and you have Ervell.

I think that if you're about 27-35 years old, you can't help but be drawn to these outfits out of nostalgia...no matter where you're from.....myself included.

this is another major point i keep forgetting to mention, the shoegaze/alt brit spirit in ervell's clothing. i would note, however, that what a lot of those dudes were into was american sportswear that stood in contrast to casual british clothing of the time. you dont use slowdive as your runway music multiple times for nothing...
