  1. How did you prepare?

Which test prep services did you use?

I didnt use any prep, just one book, my laptop and about 200 pages of scratch paper. JEAHHH! I don't believe in prep courses personally.

But yeah this year is gonna be a bitch. If I get into my 5th choice I will be fine.

  2. 770 WHUUTTTTttttttt

I'm glad I never visited that site.

Cheating is big business tho. You got people taking tests just to remember what questions came up.

MBA isn't really worth it for average schools. But for top 20 schools the monetary return is significant. Fuck money tho, I got friends!

  3. The overall condition judging from the soles I would say is quite good save for some slight chipping of the leather at the toe area as seen from the orig pics. I've used Kiwi neutral polish generally on all areas and Kiwi brown polish to go over the spots where the leather chipped.

As for the shape/creases - should I get a shoe tree or just wear it in to get it into shape to fit me?

I'm not sure about the standing of Church's on this board...however I really like the color its like a deep brown with a tint if burgundy from certain light.

There is nothing wrong with that particular Church's, it's just that you have found yourself an example of their "Polished Binder Leather" which is their code word for cheap corrected grain. It's the same leather on $99.00 Kenneth Coles, which is why modern Church's shoes are so hated in some circles. The construction will be good but you will have a hard time making them look better with age. They will stay shiny and creased and will have a really hard time absorbing any polish.

On the plus side, they are lower maintenance, you don't need to polish them very often, you can usually just wipe them down with a cloth.

  4. the regular Indys are nearly orthopedic-level shoes, a line which Alden makes which are middle-tier. They are not made to high standards, that's why they are about $100 cheaper than regular dress alden shoes.

the ultimate indys are made to alden dress shoe standards.

It's debatable whether a leather sole is better than synthetic, but it at least costs more. The main difference for me would be the leather inner lining. cloth lining on shoes sucks.

  5. Grenson quality is up there with Trickers. I have both and love them. Much better quality than Alden.

I wouldn't go that far. Grenson and Alden are similar quality these days (and only because of the slight decline of Alden). Also, Grenson has a very wide range of lines and quality levels, their entry level is not very good. Tricker's is a step above both.

  6. I have handled Loakes and identical Loakes for Tyrwhitt before. Most of the lines below the top 1880 line are indeed corrected grain. But they are all pretty well made, as far as clicking, punching and matching, they were pretty much perfectly done. They should be goodyear welted and very durable. If you don't want corrected grain, go for the 1880, if you don't mind CG then the lower lines are still sturdy shoes.

One other thing, a good way to side-step the CG issue of the cheaper lines is to get them in suede.

does anyone have first hand experience with these loake royal brogues?or have handled at the very least?

i'm looking for a cheaper alternative to alden long wings, and these seem to fit the bill.

but i've read they're corrected grain and for the price i can't imagine the quality is up to par with aldens.

    any help would be great.

  7. anybody here ever used URAD?

an article in recent free & easy recommends URAD neutral.

I have URAD, I personally don't like it. It is more of a sealant/clearcoating rather than polish. I can see where this might be advantageous (black boots without a lot of seams? maybe) but I never find myself using the URAD anymore. It is also more expensive than regular polish.

If you do use it, use a tiny, tiny bit. A microscopic coat. Too much and it turns gloppy/sticky, like glue.
