I’m selling my Freewheelers 507XX Jacket size 46.
See my previous posts. I just got it at the end of February brand new and wore it only a handful of times. I had size concerns and finally decided to size up to 48, which feels much more comfortable.
I haven’t figured out how to properly list things for sale here but thought I’ll let you know on the thread anyway. I will also put it up on yahoo auction in a few weeks if nothing happens here.

The jacket would ship from Tokyo.
I’m more than happy to add to the package if you need anything from any of the stores here in Japan.
    (29,000 yen + shipping)

    thanks!

I’m looking for one myself and also doubting between a 46 and 48. What are the measurements on this one?

Do you mean the yellow colouring? That is a historic detail, to prevent rust.
Mister Freedom also has that on his jeans.
I'd think, it will wear off over time, not 100% sure though.

Interesting, I have never seen that on original ones. Maybe it was an option? Or only done on some pieces in the past?

  3. So, I'm in for either the 1933 or the 1946 version, leaning more to the 1946 version because of the denim colour. Does anybody know the exact differences in denim? And also cut? I've looked online and it says the 1933 is a red cast denim, so can I expect a more green cast (which I generally like more) for the 1946? Also, the buttons on the 1933 seem to have an enamel coating which the 1946 does not seem to have.

Also, I double checked with the webshop to see if all threads are 100% cotton stitched. At first I got the reply that all is 100% cotton, except the buttonholes which are core spun polycotton for durability. But, after then I had another email that they checked with Freewheelers and they say all is 100% cotton thread, including the buttonholes (which I prefer).

    Many questions :)

@mstax I believe pocket shape/flap, buttons, and the cut. The sleeves are short and wide on the 1927 which is period correct I’m told. It doesn’t work for most people and they’re borderline too short on me. Oh well.

Hmm ok. Well the fit on you looks fine to me! Now I am in doubt, 46 or 33 version. I do like the buttons on the 27 and usually I’m in for short and boxy but can’t find the 27 in a size 48, the other two I can.

NvIxwRv.jpg1927 jacket @mstax this is the one to grab
1937 jeans @Smallrod knee is 9.25” shrank about 0.5” after I literally boil washed em ;)

Looking good! Isn’t that the 1933-1934 model? Or is the 1927 another one?

Edit: checked it and indeed another jacket. What’s the difference between the 33 and 27 apart from the buttons?

I’ve got the flannel lined FW type 1 (516xx), and the FC 2107 (unworn, maybe selling). The FC denim is a bit lighter and will definitely be softer with wear more quickly. The FW is more cleanly stitched and constructed all around. The FC pocket feels a little oversized. They’re both nice jackets. To my mind the reason to get the FullCount is the denim itself - which is really appealing to a lot of people.
I like trying different brands but at this point I’m pretty convinced (like others here) that the FW stuff is just a notch better all around - and even moreso with FCs price hikes.

I recently ordered a type 2, which is something I'm missing - and I didn't even think about getting it from someone other than freewheelers at this point. I just don't think there is a better maker out there for repro oriented stuff. Different, yes, but for standard repro denim wares, not better. That's a broad claim but it's my experience. YMMV.

Thanks, that helps a lot! Was leaning towards the FW, so this justifies that thought.

FW’s denim is all 100% cotton thread stitching right?

I am looking at a type one jacket on eBay.

Seller says it it is from 2007, and that they believe it was made without a red tab.

I believe Levis didn't start putting the tab on jackets until later, but having looked through catalogs I can't see a version without a red tab.

Jacket is labelled as made in Turkey but I suspect the tab has been removed by someone.

Anyone heard of a type one without a tab?

If the tab was removed, you should be able to see that I think. Ask for some closer photos of the area where the tab should have been. See if there is some red fabric left between the fabric layers in case they cut it off. Or in case they undid the stitching to remove it, you also should be able to see that in the stitch lines on the pocket. Normally that stitch should be continuous. If someone undid the stitching to remove the tab and then restitched it, you should see that.

It also could be a sample maybe?

@mstax Freewheelers just sent out a restock of their type 1s, always a good option.
The WH one I have is great too, they’re just a little harder to come by in 46/48. Also worth checking out Yahoo Auctions, I see them pop up in size 46 every now and then.

I was looking at the Freewheelers version. Very nice jacket but it is a little more expensive than WH. Especially here in Europe, I would around 600 euro which is double from a WH 2001xx. Might keep Yahoo Auctions in mind! Thanks for the tip

They do stock these in 46/48 from time to time, I purchased mine in size 46 direct from Warehouse a few years ago.
My understanding is that they just don't make those sizes all the time in their regular production runs.

Yeah I have seen a 46 in the past somewhere and was under the impression I could get it directly from WH perhaps. Hmm might look for another type 1 then.

  10. So I am looking for a type 1 2001xx jacket is a size 46/48 but it’s nowhere to be found. I emailed WH to ask when they will plan a restock and got the answer that the 2001xx jacket will not be restocked. Isn’t this strange? Feels like a basic collection item.

Straying a bit from the classic 5 pocket jeans.

Got these M43035s (1945 model) in camel off of ebay last week.
Like the fit, like the fabric, like the price as well.

Good fit! Actually looks a lot less wide then the pics online show. May I ask what size you are wearing?

I find, that the sleeves look pretty wide considering that it is a slim fit jacket.

    Is that typical for these?
The sleeves in the ones I had bought beginning of the nineties were quite slim.

Makes sense that the sleeves are wider in a 60’s version. The 557(xx) for example also has wider sleeves compared to the later 70505 iteration. I actually prefer it.

Now that I think of it: Levi’s had a sort of comeback of ‘White Levi’s’ in the 90’s with a product line called White Tab Levi’s. Part of that were also the jackets with a label that looks similar to the older 60’s versions. Here is an example: https://www.carousell.com.my/p/levi’s-denim-jacket-white-tab-vintage-213741456/ No big E, but it did have a white tab.

Does anyone know about Levis Corduroy Trucker Jackets?

When I was in Japan in the 90s, they had these slim fitting type 3 in different colours. I got a light brown and a dark brown one.
    They were around US$70 then.
    They somehow disappeared unfortunately.

Now I've been looking for such jackets, but Levi's doesn't seem to offer any currently. Not Levi's Japan either.

These are similar but have snap buttons. The others had standard buttons.

I have had a couple of these in different colours and still have one in light brown. I collect vintage and once and again I stumble upon one of these. Almost all of them are big E (at least the ones I had). My gut feeling is that these were made in Macau in the early years of overseas production and possibly also Hong Kong. Made for the Asian market and Europe. Nice and cool vintage looking jackets. Mostly in coloured corduroy but have had them also in a lighter denim fabric. The Slim Fit label also had a version made in USA, but I think it was specified on the neck label. So, these were vintage, made around late 60’s early 70’s. The Japanese stores probably had leftovers. Check out my Instagram @michielstax to see a few of these jackets. Nice that you bring these up!

  14. @Facini Thanks for sharing that jacket, so cool to see you wore it since deadstock! That washing process is also nice to see, I always enjoy washing something that old and see how it comes out. Let alone something deadstock.

Value wise it’s a little bit difficult to tell I think. I collect and sell sometimes as well and the stuff I sold went for reasonable prices. Nothing high like some eBay sellers are asking. I also don’t think eBay is the best place to sell (though I don’t have any experience there so please correct me if I’m wrong). A network of fellow collectors or denim enthusiasts would feel better I think. Maybe via social media if you have the followers ofcourse. You have a good size though, slightly large but that’s better than too small. If I would give an indication I think anywhere between 300-600 is reasonable based on what I experienced. But, it really all depends on what someone wants to give.

  15. I’d say the cooperation between Levi’s and Cone Denim gradually became less after the shift to non selvedge denim made on wider looms. Just a thought however. No idea if before that all 501’s were made of Cone Denim but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because you’d want a consistent product, in this case the known 501 jean made of a specific denim fabric.
