  1. Picked up a pair of 1001's.

Still got 3 inches of shrink in the inseam it seems despite it being the 16oz denim (they were hemmed when new as well, even more surprising to me that I got so much shrink).

To my surprise the front pockets had plenty of room presoak, hopefully that is the case when they dry. Fairly confident I got all of the shrink out so here's to hoping I found a winner with TFH for me.

  2. As mentioned before, the '09 cut has a rather quick and sharp taper starting around the mid thigh to knee area.

This was at one time a good fit for me, but I now can't wear my SG pairs. The top thigh area and crotch has room, but they are tight around the mid thigh and knee.

Does anyone have experience with both the '05 fit and '09? Does the '05 have a strong taper mid thigh like the '09? Obvisously the knee will be bigger, what I'm worried about is the mid thigh area. Was thinking of getting the 3105's in the same size as my 3109's since I like the denim a lot.

Well, I'm a sucker for the 21oz. VX/Zero denim, so I try and snag it in any cut I can. The 21oz. were a tough break in w/the low rise. I wore them every day for 3 weeks and was wondering if they were going to work, but then one day...second skin. What size do you have in the 17oz.? I recommend sizing up one for the 21oz.

I'm a 34 in the 17oz, seems 2nd has a size 35 in stock at the moment as well.

The ugly arcs are only for the Japanese market, retailers in North America only sell them with the old stitched-on only arcs.

In terms of fit, you can't please everybody.  For me personally no flannel fits me as well as Flat Head and RJB flannels, it's like they were cut for me.  I'm ok with the slightly dropped shoulders, I've been wearing them for 15 years and have come to like it over those years.

It's frustrating because the shirt fabrics are so cool, but they just don't fit me and I'm coming to that realization I guess. The wallets are out of this world still so I can hang onto that at least.

Any plans to stock the 3005 with the normal overseas arcs Kiya? I was thinking of sizing up on that. The 3009 I got is great but impractical at the same time due to how I sized them and the pockets.

FYI, starting SS18 WR (wide) shirts are no longer being made.

No western friendly shirts and ugly ultra suede arcs..... The "yup, I'm good on that" list continues with me unfortunately.

I do, and in fact I have a BNWT 32w, 21oz. FSOT. (I hope this plug isn't violating any forum rules!)

I've now had 3 pairs of 711s. The sizing is all over the place. The 17oz 32s and the 21oz 34s are about the same dimensions. The ones I'm selling (32w, 21oz.) were way too tight, although I have the S5000s in 32 also and those fit great. The 711 is a cool fit IMO: low rise, slim thighs, but with a real vintage straight leg look. They are not "skinny jeans" and look great stacked. They are kind of like a slimmer S5000, and the cut is very similar to Strike Gold 1105 & 5105. I should also say I prefer the 21oz. to the 17oz. The 17VX is great, but the 21VX is something special.

Not sure what you mean about the selvedge line...mine all look normal.

I just started wearing my 711vx 17oz again. They are a nice fit if you don't mind low rise. What do you find special with the 21oz pair? Are they still comfortable at that weight?

I wanted that pair a year ago then lost interest. My interest is now peaked again.

Yes. Honestly I've just changed my lifestyle and accepted I can't comfortably put stuff in my front pockets... For me, it's worth it if I can wear flat head and RJB jeans.

On the other hand, since RJB jeans have a way more forgiving denim (stretchier) I think that it's not so bad.

I respect this notion and practice, but no way am I changing my lifestyle for a pair of pants.

  8. That's a real bummer to read. Maybe I will pass on them then.

I don't really store things in the front pockets, but the few times I want to put my hands in them or throw something in real quick, the small openings drive me crazy. It's a struggle to even get a lighter in and out of them.

  9. Can anyone here compare the front pockets of the 3005 to other TFH models?

I want to order a pair of the 3005's once Self Edge restocks, but I have a pair of 3009's I pretty much abandoned due to unuseable front pockets.

Just grabbed a pair of FH3002. I hear everyone talking about shrinkage. I went TTS. Shall I expect ball crushing pressure after the hot soak which I need to do because I’d love to get the inseam down to 33” if possible. Thanks in advance

Are you able to exchange for a bigger size? These shrink a ton. They will likely be too tight on the hips etc. after shrinking.

If you plan on never washing them, I guess you could be ok doing a cold soak and hot soaking other parts of the jean if you find it worth doing. But once you wash them in a machine on cold, they likely won't be wearable.

  11. 747's have been worn for a day. Glad I went with this pair over the others, things shrunk a decent amount with a hot heavily agitated soak.

Being they were a size 32, inseam started at 34.75 and is now around 32, so no need for hemming.

The denim kind of reminds me of Flat Head pioneer denim post soak (hand feel wise) but the color is not quite as deep and more of a nice bright blue hue.

I like them and hope to wear them hard. Coin pocket is pretty much useless, due to how the belt loops are. Never really use them anyways. With some front pocket opening stretch, I'll be good to go with these.

A fairly modern top block is a nice feature I like when looking for straight fits now, and this has that.

if the shop is set up and willing to deal with oversea customers it is the right thing to do. (it should be about 8% consumption tax.)

for some of the smaller stores this is too much effort for the occasional oversea customer...

I was pleasantly surprised they took it out. Their English is great and they provide measurements as well. Here's to hoping the pair works out.

  13. Well, after switching fits in my head maybe ten times I'm right back at my original idea all along.

I went ahead and ordered a pair of 747's last night. Wanted something with more room for the winter and to be able to have long underwear on underneath them.  I suppose space in the summer is good too.

The old timey details will better suit a straighter jean to me, as I've seen mentioned before.

Probably still going to get a pair of 737's though at some point, if I find myself liking the denim.

Rhino excluded the Japan tax in the confirmation email, is that common? I don't remember anyone ever doing that for me from Rakuten.
