  1. ^ Exactly. Luckily they're a skinny cut or I wouldn't have been able to wear them. Definitely SD1 or 2.

I sized down 1 on the 3109 and the fit is perfect after they stretched back out, but I really don't think going down two would end well. I don't see the waist stretching enough to make that an option.

  2. Should I size down 1 when buying the Elephant 3 WG or should I buy TTS?

Does the upper-thigh area stretch a lot? Because I have muscular quads and if there is no stretching at all I guess i had to size up.

Stretch on the thighs will not be noticeable (quarter of an inch at the most for most brands) As a rule of thumb size down if the thigh down will fit well day 1, true to size if its too small. If a pair of sanforized denim requires you to size up past your true waist you're probably looking at the wrong fit.

  3. lol how do you guys do it? I guess back-rise comes into play too.

Im looking for a roomy seat/thigh with fitted legs.

My momotaro 1005sp are 29 waist, 11rise and 11.9 thigh and its pushing it. My waist feels perfect but, my seat is jusst right and thighs are just cutting it. I think the backrise is a little tight. I like a roomier seat though, and a slight taper need down (as opposed to straight).

I looked at NF Regular guy, as the rise is slightly longer and thigh just a touch bigger but, Im scared the cut will be too similar.

I may just have to buy denim and get them tailored slightly.

If you really want a fitted leg that might be a requirement. The thigh and rise you want are much more characteristic of a looser fit. Tapered pairs rarely have a larger seat thigh. You might want to check out both the pure blue japan xx-03 and 09, the thigh is closer to what you want but the rise is still lower than what you want . They're a fuller cut with a bit of a taper but not as much as actual slim cuts.
  4. Waist is 29-30. I looked at 710s but the rise wont cut it.

I got Momotaro 1005SP and the rise/thigh are just barely cutting it. but I'm not liking the look. I need more thigh/rise.

A size 28 sanforized pair of shearers has a 29 waist, 11 inch thigh, and a 11.9 rise. Don't know many other slim cuts that have that high of a rise, I wear a 35-36 waist and the highest rise I own is still under 11 inches.

  5. Guys, I got a pair of 710s from 2nd and I do not like the super High rise on them. they just dont fit me right.

Does anyone happen to know of a sammy model that fits like levis 511s? I love this fit and would love to get it in some sammy denim.

If anyone is looking for a new pair fo 710s I just threw them up in the marketplace. thanks!

S003JP.   Slimmer throughout the leg than the 710 and a lower rise. Don't have a pair of the 511s to compare, but this is about as slim as samurais get.

  6. So... I'm in Tokyo and am seriously thinking about getting a pair of samurais. Would it be a bad idea to size up (even more than just for the soak) for s003jp to achieve a looser fit? I want the taper but the proper waist size equates to a slimmer fit than I'm looking for. I have a pair of iron heart ih-301s so I'm looking for a looser fit for variety. I have big thighs so the model zero (s5000vx I believe) looks weird on me. If this gives an idea what I'm looking for-I also went to the evisu store nearby... I really liked the fit on the PMG105 but it costs even more than samurai and I think samurai is a way cooler brand :(

I have a pair of the s003JP and I went true to size, I love them but they're still pretty slim. I have muscular thighs but nothing major. Sizing up one may help with a bit looser fit but the 710 might be a better option. A sized down 710 would have similar measurements to a sized up 003 with a bit roomier knee and a higher rise, but without the problem of having too loose a waist, mine stretched back out to a bit larger than presoak pretty easily. For reference, I have a pair of the 301s in a 33 too, and the 34 003 fit almost the exact same for me.

  7. I think you need to get a better idea on the fit you want, all 3 of those are somewhat different, the stantons and the 710s are probably the closest but still a bit different depending how you size, but the ST fit is waaaaaay slimmer, mostly in the thigh, than the other two. I'd go with the SL instead cause the other two fits are more slim straight with a bit of taper but nothing too crazy.

  8. I'd go true to size. Would give you a similar fit to that. Sizing up 1 might leave them too big in places you don't want them to be and they probably don't stretch enough to size down comfortably. But look at the size guides on blueingreensoho.com. They're pretty accurate in my experience.

  9. They are basically the same fit.

The grey weft will just yield slightly different fade contrasts to the standard white weft. (Weft being the horizontal cross thread of the weave) The X11 is a left hand twill. This denim stretches back out to its raw measurements after an initial soak.

The X11 has a very deep indigo hue with clear vertical streaking. Although it is slubby it has a smoother feel to the X13 which is made from the PBJ signature 14 oz denim.

What Danny said. The fits are quite similar but in my experience the xx-013 measure slightly smaller in the same size as the xx-011. The 11s also stretch a bit more so I was able to size down to a 33 while going true to size 34 for the 13s. But if you're looking for a baggier fit I'm not sure either of these are what you're looking for since they are both quite slim. Much slimmer than the Edwin relaxed tapered jeans.

  10. Yeah, I understand that they're going to shrink very minimally because they are sanforized, but supposedly an initial soak will release some of the starch--which will make the jeans more comfortable/easier to break-in?

And for some reason, I recall that doing an initial soak will prolong the life of the denim, but I'm not sure if I recall that correctly, haha.

Both of those points are true, but since they are softer from the get go creases won't set in as quickly or as well as they do for stiff starchy denim which may impact the fading. It's probably more a question of preference than anything though because in the long term it probably won't make much of a difference.

  11. Guys, please convince me NOT to purchase a pair of real japan blues. My flat head bsp's easily have a year of life left so there is no urgency. Plus, girls readily compliment on the amazing fit which is an added bonus?  The $400 (canadian) could be spent on better things at my current stage of life like concert tickets, a trip, or even a dozen dates. I know it's a million times wiser to invest the money, hell, even into a Vanguard 2055 retirement fund. I'm working as an RA in college so my rent and food is free if you are wondering.

But the faded pairs in the RJB thread look so amazing and the self edge description screams "BUY ME". Ugh, I hate my impulsivity.

Have a pair of the collab you just pictured and I love them (had them tapered cause I wasn't crazy on the straight leg), but based on the jeans in your sig I'm not sure RJB is really, for you, on comparable sizes the rise on the 103BSP (their slim tapered model) is more than an inch smaller presoak than the flat heads and probably the NFxONIs too and it'll shrink another half an inch with a soak. Might be an issue. Not to mention the denim on their standard line is slight different than the collab they did. Only 0.25oz lighter but it is a difference. Also the standard RJB denim all have zip flys instead of buttons. Thats more of a preferential note but you're looking for reasons to not buy so hey, theres another possible one.

Unless you are actually getting one of the few remaining smaller sizes of the collab, I don't really recommend it buying a pair, if you are it still might not be great cause the jeans are quite a bit looser from the knee down than your onis and flatheads are.
