  1. I doubt it. It looks like the reason you can't button them up is you can't pull them far enough up your legs because the thighs are too tight. Their slim tapered fit looks like it's just wrong for you.

  2. A raw size 32 measures 32 in the waist? That's way off, should be closer to a 33.5 for the raw version and even then they might be too small based on your pictures. Are you sure your actual waist is aactually 33.5? Because even with the jeans being an inch smaller then your waist you should be able to button them up with a little work. Either that or the cut just might not be for you because the thighs look way tighter than they should pre soak. And yes you should exchange/sell because those will be way too small after a soak.

  3. From what I've heard, the Okayama spirits aren't worth looking at unless you're short. The inseam will shrink down a fair amount under the starting length of 33"

Blueowl is actually supposed to be getting longer inseams for the next restock of weird guys some time this month.  And the fits aren't actually that similar. The leg opening on the 512 is a fair bit smaller than on a pair of weird guys for the same waist size. Could be an issue if you have muscular legs.

  4. could anyone help me with sizing on the S003JP? The 15th Anniversary model in specific.

I'm familiar with BiG's measuring methods, just unsure how much this denim will shrink with a thorough wash. I am a true 32 - would a tagged 32 in this model be too large for me? Additionally, the jeans are described as tapered on BiG but slim straight on other sites - any insight into the true fit?

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Go TTS on them, even after a machine wash the waist will stretch back out to raw measurements fairly quickly. Check my post a few pages back, I listed the pre and post hot machine wash measurements on a size 34 (I'm a 36 waist), you can get a general idea on the shrinkage from that. And they're more of a slim tapered cut than straight. Also make sure the cut is right for you, the thighs on these are pretty slim so if you're a bigger guy a sized down 710 would still look similar but give you a bit of added room.

  5. You may have been correct in saying that the thighs and crotch are a bit tighter for this fit but you have to look back to his question in the first place to see that he's asking about the waist only. I only brought up the point of talking about measurements other than the waist to make sure he had the full picture just in case. You were making a recommendation based on information he didn't even say when you started talking about the thighs being too tight in a 31 after washing which is completely wrong because he's looking at the one wash version, hence my "not even close" comment. And he actually posted later that a 31 would be fine for him in that regard.

Because they are one washed, the 32.15 waist to start with will easily stretch out to a 33.5 like he wants and after washing no matter how hot you do it they will never be smaller than they were originally and will always stretch back out. And contrary to what the guy above me said, PBJs do actually stretch quite a bit, especially in the waist, my size 33 raw 11s currently measure 36 in the waist and 12.2 in the thigh after machine washing them and wearing them less than a week since. Those measurements are larger than they were presoak. Same goes with my 13s which I machine washed right of the bat because they didnt shrink as much as I wanted with a soak.

So to summarize, he was interested in if the waist will stretch and only the waist. Not thighs or anything lower. A 31 will stretch out enough and maybe a bit more, a 32 will end up being too big especially if he has what you would call "chicken legs".

  6. d0t - go with the 32.  Yes, the waist on those 31's will stretch out with many wears, but 1) it will shrink back whenever you wash 'em, and once again you'll have to wear 'em for many weeks before it stretches back out, and 2) there is more to a good fit than just the waist - you want the thighs and crotch to fit right and pbj's are generally narrow in the thighs and tight in the crotch (and these areas don't loosen up nearly as much or as quickly as the waist -- THINK OF THE BOYS!).

Not even close, yes the thighs are pretty tight on the pbj slim tapered fit but the rest is wrong. Because of the one wash process, when you get them that is the smallest the jeans will ever be, they will stretch out to what you want in the waist and probably a bit more. When you wash them again they will shrink back down but since you already stretched them out once, it will happen again very quickly within a wear or two, not multiple weeks. So get the 31 IF all the measurements are good from the beginning apart from the waist, if not go up to a 32. But on a different note, I'd try and get a pair of the raw 31/32 instead and machine wash them yourself to get maximum shrinkage. Then hang dry. The industrial washers/dryers they put the jeans through in their one wash process is almost always something you don't want.   I personally own both the 11s and the 13s and am planning on getting the 12s soon enough as well.

  7. I recently purchased the Naked & Famous Weird guy vintage dungaree selvedge TAPERED. They were on sale for $81 on Nordstrom online. The inseam is 32". I'm wondering if the inseam will be too short as I am 6 feet tall. Will the inseam look okay with my height? Will the inseam shrink when I soak or wash in the future? Feedback/help appreciated

Just measure a pair of jeans you already own and compare inseams. Since they're sanforized they'll barely shrink at at. At most you could lose an inch or so with a hot machine wash and if you throw them in the dryer after. Hang dry instead and pull on the inseams while damp to stretch them back out if you're worried.

  8. shit, can't do the top two buttons on my new caribous.

Might have sized down too much. Andes stretch but not a huge amount. I sized down 2 on my mustang SR1 going with Andes advice and I could still get all the buttons done up day 1.

  9. I have a question regarding the 3002s. I recently tried on the 34" on the 3002s, and they fit perfect, exactly how i would like them to fit (slim on thighs and taper below knee). But it is presoak... I'm scared that after soaking i can no longer fit into them. Should i get a 36 or stick with the 34 and hope it wont shrink as much?

I wouldn't risk going a 34 if they're slim already. Flat heads shrink a lot. But a 36 is still a big step up from a 34 so with shrinkage they still might not shrink enough. I have a pair of 3002 in a 34 post soak in the marketplace. Look at the measurements I have listed. If those still work go with a size 34. If not I'd check out the BSPs in a 34. Slightly looser all over than the 3002 but still a nice slim fit. You might even get away with a 33 in those because the waist stretches more than on the 3002.

  10. The ST measurements seem to differ a lot because each production run ends up a bit different. I've seen pairs from a few years ago that measure the same as a current 34 even though they were labeled as a 31. Because of that you shouldn't base your comparisons on sizing charts. Measure your own pair then compare them to the 1109 on SE. Those are accurate. Same with the measurements for shrinkage that they mention.

  11. I just ordered my first pair of Samurai (S003JP) from Blue in Green. My actual waist size is 32 (I'm 5'8, 155lbs), and I went ahead and ordered a size 32. I should be receiving these on Monday, but wanted to see how you guys determine if a pair of Samurais are sized correctly when taking shrinkage from soaking into account. I've read through most of this thread, and from I gather many state that the denim will shrink with the first several hot soaks but then will stretch back out to its original pre-soak size.....which would mean that they would once again become semi-loose fitting, is this correct? Is any of the shrink in the waist permanent or will it always re-restretch?

I have the same pair in a 34, machine washed when I got them, shrunk a fair bit everywhere and stretched back out to presoak measurements (and a bit more) in the waist within a day. If your true waist is a 32 and you bought a 32 those might be way too big on you because even with a belt, the waist will end up stretching. You might want to return those and get a size 30 (which would be TTS) which will stretch out to your desired waist size. If the rest of the measurements on a 30 are too slim for you then get the 710 instead, similar cut but slightly looser all over and a higher rise. Look a couple pages back for when I posted about my pair to see just how much the measurements changed after a hot wash.

  12. I usually wear a size 32 but I took a chance of getting a 29 in A.P.C is there any way I can get them to stretch to my size I can get them to the 2nd button but its tight AF LOL or am i forever unable to button the top button??

Apcs are vanity sized so that 29 actually measures somewhere between a 30-31. The 32s you wear are also most likely vanity sized and probably measure around a 34 or more based on how tight you say the Apcs are. They will not stretch enough to be comfortable. Sell them and cut your losses.
