  1. Undercover: I have an issue with doing up the top button with several shirts that I own. The LA3 works fine for me though but of course YMMV.

  2. "Tech" usually seems to mean "technical materials". In the past perhaps these materials induced a certain kind of aesthetic, as perhaps did the people working with them. Many them probably weren't fashion driven but came to it from a functional/specialist angle. Military, snowboarding, motorcycling, racing, etc.

These days "tech" still means "functional or specialist clothing made from technical materials" for a lot of people, but that's of course no longer the case. ACR did a lot for blurring those lines IMHO. The J11 tech blazer being a prime example. Even if you believed in a clearly defined spectrum from tech to "avant-garde", think about

where would one place Visvim for instance: Its tech because of its use of GoreTex, Vibram, etc. but the aesthetic is traditional. ACR to me has avant-garde aesthetics but using tech materials. Devoa is avant-garde in its look, with articulated sleeves ,etc. much like ACR but using traditional materials like washi and such.

Beyond all of that, high fashion has always been about new materials and forms of expression. The best concepts then making it down to RTW. Just look at Iris van Herpen's 3D printed dress and tell me that is "just tech". Its all tech, but its all avant-garde too.

  3. Jonboy, I thought the sleeves adjusted, so they could be shortened as needed. Or are you saying that they are too long even at their shortest?

Also, never thought of GoreTex in a cat-hair context. Too funny!

Since I don't have a cat (anymore) I could totally use a DS-J5, which is nice segue into my standard "WTB DS-J5 Medium, any color, worth your while!" exclamation.

  4. Good point. Chest measurements are close, but the shoulders are hard to compare as the J25 has a kind of raglan construction.

The sleeves are 12cm longer on the J25, but part of that is extra length for the thumb-loop part of course. For me the biggest issue with the HD2 is that the sleeves are too short (and I'm not particularly tall).

  5. Hi Dutchblack,

Having had both pieces, I'm fairly certain that a WS-J25 in L would be fairly big for you. The HD2 in M fits close to an S. To me the WS-J25 fits true to size, so the Large version of it is probably too big for you.

  7. Vitamin400iu:

Great looking pant but...how tall are you? If the length of the P9S looks good for you, then you'll find that this one is a good deal longer, like 8-9 cm depending on what size you pick. Since it is articulated like the P9S, you can't easily get it hemmed because the "knee joint" would still be in the wrong place. Had to send mine back, sadly. Great microfiber-like material! Weird though: they used to offer multiple lengths for each size. Guess not anymore. Love my operand shirt and blazer LT though (but will never stop questing for a DS-J5)!

Steph&Misanthropod: word from the ninja hideout is that 3A will be an acrnm.com only thing from now on. No retailers, so nothing available through the subnet. But you'll still be able to order them online at least.

  8. Ordering from ACRNM.com is relatively painless. You might need to pay 10-20% import fee, but they already deduct 20% from the price when shipping to the US. Still ends up cheaper than in any store in the US.

    Haven sells the 3A-8TS.

  9. Well I heard there there'll be the world first tech-kilt. 3XDRY WB400. Guaranteed zero resistance DFMA fit. New bottom-mounted internal suspensor with fidlock attachment points on the sides, hidden EscapeZipae-enabled slits for easy access to gear on the suspensor and enhanced ventilation. iPhone pocket. Teflon-treated leather sporran on the front with ForceLockae. 15 rows of tecsys on the back like a P8.

Dryskin underwear optional but frowned upon.

    ;-)

  10. Hey Misanthropod, had no idea you were in NL, let alone DH (my family is from there).

Any idea if they had a DS-J5 hanging around still?

I've been trying to get in touch with them but couldn't find an email and calling is a bit hard given the time difference.

Also, I have a mint DS-HD2 in M I could be persuaded to let go.
