  1. I think a presoak should help preventing early crotch blow-outs and such since you get rid off alot of the starch. In the end it should mean that my jeans is in a wearable condition for a longer time. At least that's my reason for the presoak. :)

I suppose it comes down to what kind of fades you're after? Old school = wash more often. But obviously there's no set dates for either kind of fades anyway since it varies so much of what people do in their denim.

  2. Since HWDC2 is drawing near I thought I'd share some (sadly just by phone)pics of my Lee 101Z 23oz after one initial soak and ~2 months of wear. The close up of the backpocket is the most coloraccurate.

  3. Can someone recommend me some of the lower $ denim that would be acceptable? Is Unbranded the cheapest, whats a step up from there?

There are a few options, Paul Rose and N&F as already stated.

You also have Kamikazes 20z, which is a slim straight, over at Tate & Yoko.

You could also cop a pair of Red Clouds from Tuckshop in either 17oz(R400) or 21oz(R400S).

They seem really sweet and I recall there being a competition discount for them aswell, although I can't seem to find it at the moment.

  4. @Bobbo I did not measure the inseam pre soak but it is currently at 34 inches so approx 2 inches of shrinkage there. I am going to get 2 inches off the hem to calm the stacking down a little.

Cool. I'll probably go with a single cuff and massive stacking for the change.

  5. The Steel Feathers arrived earlier today and they sure look just as awsome as I hoped. Love all the details and the stitching is definitely better than on my 101Z 23oz.

Will try to get some pre/post soak pics when I have the time. For now a sneakpeak will have to do.

  6. Early in this thread I had said I was going to wear the 32 oz N&Fs but that was before the start date was pushed back to April. I was hoping to get in some good winter wear so that by the time the weather warmed up they will have softened a bit. Now that the early stages will be during warm weather I'm having second thoughts about using the 32oz... As a NYC snob, there are only 2 things I concede that are absolutely SHIT about this city -- the horrid state of disrepair into which the subway system has fallen...and the unbearable humidity of its summers. I know everyone in the tropics are rolling their eyes at that but NYC is a very polluted and crowded city and the summer humidity of the Hudson delta just intensifies the unpleasantness. I HATE NYC during the summers and I don't think I can wear 32oz denim that is still stiff during them. We'll see how motivated I am about this...

Well, walking around hating your (choice of) denim for a couple of months isn't really what this is all about. Just be a badass in your 32oz now, show us some evo and hopefully you find some other pair to give some love for the contest.

And by the way, Netleyhunter said he's gonna kick some 32oz N&F so we'll still get to see how they evolve over a 2 year period.

  7. You need to be a little more specific, Where is he going in the US, which denim, which type-II. Im pretty sure the good folks on here can help you out. Albeit better posted in the "this or that" thread.

He's going to Phoenix but it's pretty much irrelevant since I'm looking for a good onlinestore and just have it shipped to where he'll be staying.

Anyway, now that I'm done with the drunken webbrowsing I'll look for answers in the more appropriate places.
