  1. That's how a 5000 should fit (looks quite good on you I might add). You aren't likely to find a slimmer fit in this jean that is still comfortable.

I also agree you won't get much more shrinkage unless you put them in the dryer. My size 32 shrunk from 34 to no less than 32 with hot wash and partial machine dry, and you are working with less fabric here.

  2. Gnomes, I'm looking forward to seeing how your 0105xx's fit. I've been keen on a pair for sometime, but you don't see too many pairs posted here and I'm not sure how the cut will look on someone of my size. I think you are about my size (your Roys are 33, right?), so it will be a good frame of reference, and maybe you will inspire me to pick up a pair as well!

  3. I think the top block looks good. That's how the s5000 should fit in my opinion. Far too often it seems people are interested in the s5000 and then end up selling or returning to buy the 710 or another brand altogether. The s5000 can fit slim in the thighs and top block, but they will never be a slim/tapered jean from the knees down no matter who you are.

  4. Yes, it is the 15oz texas cotton. I bought it from BiG a little over a year ago and haven't washed it yet, but it came one wash. I wear it when it is chilly and I'm not going to work, so not a whole lot, but a few hours here and there makes a difference. It's getting a little snug now as I "stretch" out, but I feel I'm too invested at this point to start over again!.

Good natural light is a rare beast in my apt, but I'll try to take some more detailed pics when the moment is right.

  5. I caught a glimpse of the contrast on my Samurai jacket "glistening" in the sun this morning, so I had to take a pic. I love the twist in the fabric along the waistband from the chain stitching.

  6. ^^based on the s710 posted here lately if you want a size 34 in the in s710 you could probably do a size 33 in the s5000 17oz. They seem to be slightly bigger pre-soak and shrink a bit more.

  7. Yes, the denim is fairly "shrinky". I didn't measure my size 33s before I soaked them but if they were anywhere near the SE pre-soak measurement of 34.5/38 then they shrunk AT LEAST 1.5 in the waist and 3 inches in the inseam. The waist has stretched back out to over 33, without problem. I am 6' with relatively short legs/long torso and have been wearing a 2" single cuff, though I still have a bit of break. I've machine washed with hot water several times and have machine dried once.

A wise man once said "The denim is awesome as well".

    Yes.

  8. I recently put away my Roy RS04s and started wearing my Samurai s5000vx (17oz) again. After a few more weeks of wear and a wash I thought the progress was worth a post. These were purchased in late Jan/early Feb 2012. There is probably 7 months effective wear on these, as well as three or four washes.
