but according to this blog they don't shrink at all in the waist:

    which one is correct?

  2. I'm picked them up on Sale. I looked around at lot's of different online sellers to see what they advised regarding sizing. Very few are advising to size up - most just say buy your size. LVC have a video guide to sizing on Raw, but it's a bit crazy. it's like saying, if you're not going to wash them size down and they will stretch to your size, if you're going to shrink to fit buy you're usual size and sit in the bath, and if you're going to machine wash - size up. I measured them again and they measure more like 36.5 but I doubt they will shrink much more than an inch in the waist and 2" in the length with a warm soak, that's purely based on looking at the weave in the denim. I think if the 34's measure just over 35 they'd work out fine because they would stretch back if they shrunk a couple of inches.

I remember buying a LVC Blanket lined jacket for £50 at Sale and the denim looked very similar to the 1947 - the tag said expect 10% shrinkage and to size up and it did not shrink one percent. Fortunately I was able to find another in my size.

These 1947 maybe Cone denim but they are not worth the £215 price tag. They're not comparable in quality to say ROY.

    I'm sending them back.

501XX4EVER: I used to have a pair of LVC 1966's. The first edition. isn't the 1966 model Sanforized?

  3. Just purchased a pair of LVC Raw 1947. Usually wear a 34" and sized up to to a 36. They are Cone denim.

Just received and they measure more like 37. The denim doesn't look like it will shrink that much. I am guessing probably not more than 1.5"

    I've now seen measurements for Raw 34s @ 35.5".

What is the shrinkage like on these? - I'm starting to feel I should of just got a pair in 34's and cold rinsed?

  4. I have the WS-1 in a Large and the fit is perfect (chest just under 47", shoulders: 18.5, sleeves 26, depth 29), def couldn't get into a Medium but I'm at least 20 lbs heavier than you. the WS-1 is a much lighter fabric which I guess will make a difference.

Be great to see some fit pics.

  5. Not the easisest of fit pictures to pass an "expert" eye over Lefty :)

It does appear to have shrunk as the description on SE - an inch in the chest, but appears to be a bit more severe in the length and shoulders. Sleeve length looks pretty good.

  6. There's a reason why the sleeves look short on Roy in that shot and it was explained on the denimbro site by Mr Randal. I believe it's because Roy is really tall. The measurements on SE site were pretty accurate. If you get a chance woud be very interested in some measurements as it stands now?

  7. nice pictures leftyaxelinger.

I'm surprised that you went for an XL based on your weight/height. I am 100 kilos (220 lbs) and 5 10", 43" chest (I am overweight though by at least a stone+) and I found the XL a little bit to roomy. I put it up against my other Roy Large shirts and it was visually a size larger. Maybe if I had hot washed and tumbled dried it would of worked out?

  8. My tuppence worth- I ordered a medium, after a soak it fits like a glove, whether I have a t underneath or not. It's a piece of art. Don't get hung up on 'over shirt' description- just order your normal size and enjoy.

How much did it shrink after the soak?

  9. quick question, and a tough one since i have no fit pics to post yet...

i was lucky enough to get a roy shirt, ordered a large, as my chest is always between a 44-45.  i just got back from berlin and saw the shirt for the first time tonight.  it fits more like a dress shirt than i was expecting.  (and  aside from that the shirt itself is beautiful, absolutely perfect construction, the buttons are perfect for the style, the triple stitches are amazing etc)  it feels like it fits more like a shirt that id wear under a suit, which i like actually.  but i am not sure if it is supposed to fit this way.  should it be a looser fit shirt?

of course the XL's are now sold out too, so i probably couldn't get an exchange.  lost a week because i was away, plenty of XL's available before i left!

Hi Aproy, I have an XL in the Roy Shirt (recieved today) and I would like a Large. Please PM if you would like to try and work something out.

  10. The Edo Ai have landed:

The denim is really unlike anything else I have or have seen. It has a wave type of patten where the green alternates with the blue. From the dying process I assume?

Not to mention the slub and nep. Crazy!

The fit is very comfortable and well fitted without being baggy or boxy. A higher rise than normal on me and still plenty of room in the front pockets. I like it a lot.

A special thank to Hollows and Beautiful_Freak for bringing these to my attention and helping me source them.

    More pictures to come.

    Cheers Guys.

Edit: I have just noticed that the older versions of these (eg Hollows pair) have an arc and Tab. Mine don't.

These must be post L3vi's Lawsuit etc. They're still great though.

    Trying to find these? Help!
