does anyone know any store in tokyo, osaka, or kyoto that sell's The Strike Gold? thanks
Hi,
there were plenty of SG jeans at Big Step in Amerikamura when I went there in 2011.
There's a store at the bottom (B1F) floor. I did not really know the label at that time.
I'd totally recommend spending a day in Kojima (Kurashiki) preferably the weekend. You can easily get there with the Shinkansen from Osaka.
That being said, I bought mine (SG5109) at SE and was pretty happy with the service.

Type: 710-BH
Worn for: since september 2013, probably 10-12 months of actual wear
Washes: 4-5, screwed up a bit at beginning with 1 soak + 1 wash and dryer which made unwanted creases leading to another wash. This may explain the rather slow fading (compared to what I can read on other models).
As mentioned above, these were washed a lot before wearing. Not sure if it got rid of most of the initial starch but I haven't needed to repair anything so far. Some kind of trade off: less intense fades but better longevity.
Cheers

Type: ER-007-2B
Worn for: 3 years, probably 14-15 months of effective wear
Washes: 6-7, first one around 5 months
Just made a 2nd crotch repair. More and more of the weft can be seen at point of friction. One of my favourite cuts.

Type: XX-005
Worn for: almost 6 years, probably 16-18 months of actual wear
Washes: 10-11, first one around 6 months
Performed a few other repairs in the crotch area. The creases begin ripping, the thighs area shows some fabrics weaknesses, the pocket threads have been unraveling for a while. But I really like the texture of this denim.

Type: SG5109
Worn for: Since september 2014, probably 5-6 months of actual wear
Washes: 1 initial soak, 1 wash around 5 months
These took at least 2 months to be confortable in the knees area. This is a weird cut as it's really slim in the knees compared to the waist.
They start showing some wear in the whisker area, stacks and of course honey combs.
Flash on

Much softer than I expected.
I haven't worn the jacket outside yet but it seems to breathe well.

Hey dear Sda fans,
got this today: M65 mustard.
My grand father being a fisherman in French Brittany, Concarneau, this kind of color has always been part of my childhood.
So this piece is a way to combine my legacy and my passion for Japanese made goods, especially Studio d'Artisan.
Real color closer to the first picture below.

Just gave these four a wash a couple days ago.
I'll try to make more detailed evo pics soon.

Waist is good, half an inch larger but it should shrink and be good. Compared to my XX-005, upper thigh +1", knee +2".
Here you can see them layered, don't look at the waist, I made sure both legs were well aligned:
They're slightly different cuts. The XX005 tapers more on the thighs until the knees. The Momo 701 has got more room everywhere making then more a tigh straight cut than a slim one.
Here are mine after 1.5 years of wear for each. Both s29.
Measured the difference at knees. There's 1.8 cm.
You should probably consider another cut/brand if you want something slimmer. Hope this helps.
Cheers

^really?
hm, hm. think i still stick with the 31. thanks vgadjo and MF!
No worries. When I'm saying two cm, I mean from 77 (raw) to 79cm total waist so you may want to think 1cm for flat measurements.
Thanks everybody for the good words.

they are great!
and they would look even better if you'd found a better spot! :-(
how did the denim shrink and stretch back out?
Well I tried to prevent them from shrinking too much with a clothes hanger in the first place. I actually did the same with my new pair. They stretched back to more than raw measurements after 1 month (about 2cm more or so).

Type: Sda-103
Worn for: Since 2011/1/1, probably 20-21 months of actual wear
Washes: 9-10, first one around 8 months
but then i also learned that it would take 2-3 times longer wear than other more popular brand to achieve that fades. so i guess there's that, in an age of instant gratification that just wouldn't float most people's boat.
Still going strong, my favourite pair when it comes to the fades. It's really true they take 2-3 times longer to fade but the result is equaly rewarding.
Mine are probably past their "contrat peak" now. They tend to look more worn out with the pockets, creases, threads shredding a bit everywhere.
I usually wear them 1-2 times a week.
Took some pics both with sunlight and interior lighting:
The shades of brown can be noticed in the fabric. It's dust from a trip in Vietnam (Ph Quock) still here after couple washes.
The repairs are still holding quite well.

Type: D1657
Worn for: 1 hour
Washes: 1 soak, 1 wash
A more active SDA thread, great!
Here's the new comer for winter rotation: D1657, the 18.5oz 107 silouhette new SDA.
Gave them a warm soak and a wash. They did not shrink that much. My measures before wash were really close to the one you can find on SDA official webshop.
The after soak measures (cm):
SDA 1657 s29
waist 77 -- 76
front 25 -- 24
inseam 90 -- 87
back 35 -- 33
leg 16.5 -- 16
thigh 29 -- 27Just tried them on for an hour or so. First feedback are:
- They're so confortable from the get-go! It's a very different feeling from the SG5109 where you feel like you're forcing your way in, especially the knees.
- The denim doesn't feel that heavy compared to say some 17oz Sammies.
- the top block is the same as the SD-103 cut (measured both).
- can't wait for the temperature to drop and give them some wear!
In the meantime, here are a few pics:

Impressive boots on this page!
This. Personally, I injured my toes in kickboxing some years ago, and have arthritis in a few of those toes, and the crepe soles on my RW 875s give enough cushion to prevent any pain in my toes. I can't say the same thing about thinner soles.
I'd imagine crepe soles are better for your lower back than heels too; maybe someone has experience with that.
The same here or similar at least, I've got arthritis too, both my ankles.
I used to wear sneakers and lower quality shoes. It used to hurt after walking 30 to 60 minutes even when constantly wearing orthopedic soles. Now I mostly wear Redwings (877 for the past 8 months and 8113 recently) and most of the symptoms are gone. I went through winter with a pair of 877 in Montreal, walked hours in the sloppy streets of SF and my ankles were quite alright.
Pros and cons confirmed: comfy and seems to give cushion. But they wear out fast and are quite slippery on ice.
Here are the 877s:

Few accessories aging quite well.
3 Sixteen (Tanner Goods) double bracelet natural veg tan - about 8 months of wear
Obby Good Wallet natural veg tan -- about 2.5 years and Reds Leather (french artisan) rein -- about 14 months
UES belt veg tan -- about 1.5 years

Hey Jonaz,
I've got both some Pbj 005 (raw) and some Momo er007-2b (701/702 cut if I'm right, OW) in s29.
On the one hand I had a hard stretching the Momos to my actual waist (77-78cm). I'd say it took at least two weeks. On the other hand the Pbj felt a bit loose after a month (80cm). I would not wear them without a belt. I can definitely wear the Momos without a belt.
So the Momos in S28 sounds like the way to go in your case.
Hope this helps
PS: This is my favourite cut from all my pairs.

Hi, I would appreciate some advice on sizing the 2111. There are a lot of different measures depending on the websites. For a S30 it goes from 30" (which would be fine) to 33.5" (which wouldn't work at all). They're given 31" for the S30 on the T&Y website.
Most of my pairs are tagged S29 and stretched from usually 30" (being raw or one wash) to now 31".
