  1. ok so don't know at this point if I'll be helping to organise the next one, but I'm sure whoever does it will make a new thread whenever they want to run v7. probs register interest in that thread when it pops up rather than here, in case this one gets lost in the annals of time. also in case you change your mind or whatever between now and then...

  2. as you can see it was an awesome package, and i can't thank sawyer and philo and merry burger enough for volunteering to send me a care packing! A+ job you two ^_^

@wahwho and CHINESEGOLD - think the next one will start july-ish

  3. "Despite its modicum of popularity, most MFAers don't understand how to play Goth Ninja, level up, or even how the class system works."

"One of the biggest accomplishments in Goth Ninja is to acquire a grail. That is, the first time a low level character acquires a high-level piece of loot. Having acquired a grail shows that you're a dedicated character and you've probably dedicated some time to your class."

I don't even know what's going on in the world anymore.

    It's pretty clearly a joke...

edit: I'll facepalm if things like DnD-esque "classes" become canon for men's fashion.

  4. who the fuck are you to tell somebody how to spend his own money?

not telling him how to spend his money, just that it's stupid to think that people are coming here to see his bentley or for anything other than the drama.

so no, I don't care how he spends his money. if i had it i would do more meaningful shit/shit i find interesting with it, but that's me. i'm sure he is incredibly fulfilled by being able to order pizza in the club.

  6. ok do you mind me asking what the department's called and which grant you're applying for? I'm happy to have a quick look into it. if it's anything like here in Aus, (screen australia) the dept is subject to govt ministerial direction so you can write directly to the minister - but they probably won't care/have enough time to really do anything about it.

if it'd happened here in aus then judicial review would be too expensive/time consuming for something like this, merits review might be an option, but going to the relevant ombudsman via an official dispute application would probs be the best option - you'd at least get advice and the ombudsman has the ability to make declarations and legal directions (ie the parties legally compelled to follow the direction or appeal to a higher body) on matters up to $100k ish (varies from ombudsman to ombudsman, but $10k would pretty much always fall in the threshold

don't know if canada is the same system but happy to have a quick look. any canada law bros able to chip in?

  7. Just got rejected from a $10,000 grant because of an extremely minor technicality: they don't allow student films to be submitted as reference but because I made my demo reel film WHILE I was a student, though completely independent, they're disregarding my application -- and have no appeal process.

They don't officially announce recipients for four months, so I'm going to hold off telling my crew and just move on to the next possibility. :(

govt/public university grant? how is there no public administrative appeal process as in Australia/other Cth nations? write to an ombudsman/minister/appeal to an established commission or tribunal. you should at least be able to get merits review, if not judicial review - whether or not there's an internal appeal mechanism or not (in fact if there's no internal mechanism then it's more likely you'll be granted leave to appeal judicially)

seriously, even if you just write, email, call and berate the hell out of them - find or come up with a decent legal definition of a "student film" (ask a lawyer friend/a lawyer?) - it's not a student film because it was not made with university funding etc etc. if you kick up enough of a fuss they'll likely at least look at your case again.

if they're a public body then there's NEVER no appeal process. if they're private then you can still berate them into going over your application again. or write to an ombudsman or industry watchdog and ask what you can do...

    edit: don't give up :)

  10. after working retail, i now fold all items that i try but not buy, making sure that the sides are all flushed before returning them to the working staff.

I never worked fashunz retail and I do that anyway. I know they're getting paid to do it and all, but hell, why not take 2 minutes to make their jobs easier?

even if they're surly assholes, maybe they're just having a bad day.

i dunno, guess i'm just too nice a person
