  1. Hey everyone,

I finally took some time out to take some pictures of the sweats and the Candiani denim. Apologies in advance for the lighting and my posture. Really need to work on that. Thanks again to the Raw Hands duo on the pocket repair!

Looking good, that pocket repair is great.

As far as lighting goes, outdoor shade or anywhere on overcast days is probably the best I've found for photographing fades. You don't have to worry about certain parts looking blown out or shadowed, so the only editing it needs is white balance to best reflect the fabric.

  2. i also hate runners who wear all black and bicyclists who don't have lights at night. seriously guys

people out walking their dogs in neighborhoods with no sidewalks at like 11PM wearing dark clothes, making me shit myself when I come around the corner

  3. Left Field 23oz Greaser, around 5 months, 2 washes. Also an OG Rogue Territory Supply Jacket snuck in.

These are edited to best reflect the color and level of contrast, as usual, though I couldn't get the images to reflect the right amount of darkness in real life. They're a fair bit darker than the pictures show, but nowhere near as inky as when they started.

  4. Alright, picture time! I've been wearing my 23oz a lot since I got them, and that does include through the southern summer. They've probably had a total of about 5 months of wear, with 2 washes every month since 3 months. If this fabric is anything like Collect's other fabrics, I'm banking on it really coming alive after a lot of wear and a fair amount of washes.

  5. Never heard of these guys...

...but I walked into a denim store just to look around, and ended up walking out w/ a pair of jeans.

Whats the deal w/ the Variety Box?   Has anyone on here actually purchased one?

I like the cut of their shirts, should be a good way to test em out.

I was going to ask about the variety box as well, never did get one, is there anything left?

  6. Hey guys, haven't posted here in ages, but i'm in the market for a new pair of jeans.  5 years ago i got the LF tweed jeans but gave them away which i've always regretted. so i told myself i'd get a new pair of LF denim when it comes time to retire the roy's i've been wearing for the last 4 years, and that time has finally come.

i'm looking to get a pair of Chelsea's but can't decide which denim to get them in. basically trying to decide between 14 oz. Kaihara, 15 oz. Cone, or 15 oz Kuroki. i'm more interested in the denim hand/texture and how it will age/fade, not too worried about the weight. any input on the different denim would be appreciated.

i read Christian say that the Japanese denim doesnt stretch as easily as the Cone, so do I need to size up for the jp denim? my jeans usually measure between 34.5-35 at the waist when comfortably worn in. generally i am a size 34 and i'm thinking that is the size i need in the Chelseas.

Among those options I'd pick the 15oz Kuroki, though I have a preference for super tight dark fabrics, and the Kuroki fits that well to my knowledge. You could also look at the Collect fabrics, though.

Also, having seen a pair of the tweeds in the wild, what made you get rid of them?

  7. This jacket was made in January 1994.

it has also the newer acrylic lining and not the older styled reused Troy blanket lining as used until early 70ies. Your hacket must have 2 additional side pockets like introduced by Levis at around mud 80-ies!

Your hacket has ab awesome denim evolution. Keep it alive for ever

I assume the date because of the "0194" in the numbers on the tag?

  8. Sweet thanks! What's the 18oz denim like as far as wearability and stretch? I'm not particularly familiar with Momotaro but judging by a lot of their fits, they suit tall and slim people (such as myself).

PS I'm at work so haven't had a chance to comb this thread... Will do that tonight.

I have no idea about the 18oz, there's probably someone here who could tell you, though.

  9. These look awesome!

    Momotaro 0305-18

    And my personal favorite:

    MOMOTARO 0308-18B

    0305-18B-1.jpg

I wonder when and where they drop and for how much?

I think the 305-18 would just be a new cut of the existing 18oz denim, so ~300. If the indigo/black below follows the rest of their pricing it should be about the same.

  10. @konadog that was a Hickoree colab, not normally my style and actually didn't move them until sale but it was a cool camo print.

just got a return on a23 oz collect greaser, s 33 for anyone looking for smaller sizes. Factory won't touch this weight so if you want em, grab em. C

Somebody do it, the 23oz fabric is so good. I need to get some more pictures up soon!

  11. Asking some pretty basic questions just for confirmation of some things before me and a friend tackle his next pair of jeans.  He got Momotaro 0702BR which is the slim straight cut from them and he has roughly a 36" waist and he had some blowouts i believe is due to a looseness back at his ass/thigh area.  SO I figured getting him something with a fuller rise would fix the problem since it would sit higher and leave less loose fabric down in that area.

I'm pretty sure that the blowouts would be a result of them being too tight rather than excess fabric. I would try a larger thigh.

  12. Thinking about nabbing a pair of Kuroki chelsea jeans. Wondering if sizing "down" one is smart. Will it have some stretch after some wear? I don't mind putting in the effort.

Why size down? The chelsea cut is pretty slim as it is.

  13. Hey guys, I'm in the market for some black jeans.

I've gone this long and haven't gotten any black denim!

Honestly I'm wanting to wear some jeans to my sister's wedding in October and I feel like black denim would work.

But even if I don't wear them then (since she specifically told me no jeans, so I probably won't) I just want to have a pair in my rotation.

Probably something not super heavy (although the IH overdyed stuff looks awesome) or super slim.

    Thanks in advance.  ;)

Well, from my recent poking there's black stuff from Left Field, Ande Whall, 3sixteen, Samurai, and Imperial (I think), and you're bound to find a cut that's good for you within those options.
