  1. I agree with you here: I'm definitely not a denim collector and would much rather wear one or two pairs in rotation and have them well broken-in. I've come to realise that I really dislike starting on a new pair of raw jeans, especially when the alternative is my Canes or Full Count that both have a year's wear notched-up on them. If I'm spending my money, it's going to be on shirts or boots - hence my ever-growing stash of Flat Head gear and Vibergs...

You'll see more talk about Flat Head when the brand rolls into fashion on the boards again. It's just a matter of cycles.

  2. Yep, astonishing that companies producing some of the very best jeans out there get attention on Superdenim!

I disagree that it's only worth talking about WH and FC in terms of their jeans. Both make quality shirts, sweats and tees. Flat Head shirts fit me better than anyone else's and I love what they produce, but it isn't all there is.

  3. Welcome to the club Broark! I too love that leather smell that wafts out of a new Viberg box, haha. Give the boots hell - I'm looking forward to seeing how you break them in.

I think when autumn rolls around I'll send my own Boondockers back to VB for a resole on the raw cord. Love the look and the OG leather sole gets a bit too slappy sometimes.

  4. My comment was meant for Setterman, given what he's said before about favouring a small leg opening recently. The 1000 is a great 40s cut and honestly, I think tapering them would mess with how they are designed to look. Anyway, wear in good health and all that jazz!

  5. I couldn't get on with the wider leg opening of the 1000 - it's quite a shift from the 1001, though perhaps you're looking for variety rather than something similar.

  6. I was looking back for the "sales pitch" comment by a former member, it seems they have been censored and deleted.

Hoggreaser went back through every one of his superfuture posts and deleted them all after getting upset in the Strike Gold contest thread. I can't imagine how long that would have taken given his post count... It's now shitted-up a lot of older thread conversations though maybe that was the intention.

  7. I will try and get some shots up of how my Boondockers are looking these days but here's one from a few months back at 16 months of wear:

In terms of sizing relative to Indy boots, I take an 8.5D in my Trubalance last Indys and the same size in my Vibergs. I have Boondockers on the 2045 last, plus Chukka boots on the 110 and Service Boots on the 2030 (could probably size up to 9 in this last, as they are fairly tight). I think general advice is to take the same size in Viberg as you would Alden Trubalance or Barrie.

The 2045 is a little wider in the forefoot than the Trubalance, slimmer through the waist and feels a bit roomier in the heel. I experienced some heel slip in the first month but I think that was due to the stiffness of the leather sole and it passed once that had broken in. Not a problem if you're buying the cord sole version anyway.

  8. I'm genuinely surprised that bootleggers will go to such lengths for what is an incredibly niche interest item. I mean, why not just be in the business of making fake BAPE or Supreme gear? Fake Flat Heads, Iron Heart or Momotaro is something else...

  9. Yes, I take a 31 in both. I just laid the Warehouse on top of the Canes and they are very similar in cut, with the only significant difference being the higher back rise on the Canes. I know this is based purely on appearances and is not as definite as it would be with proper measurements though...

Could be some truth in your theory regarding larger sizes from Sugar Cane. I was surprised how slim the 47 looked on me when I first tried them because I'd always expected a very loose, wide legged cut. Around tagged 30 or 31 this certainly isn't the case. It's also going to depend on the size ratio between your waist and thighs as well - I have a slimmer waist and bigger thighs. Someone with a belly and chicken legs will have the cut looking looser through the thighs.

  10. Thanks for enduring the heat and humidity to take the fit pic! Confirms that the 1001 will be next pair of jeans down the line a bit.

No problem! The main thing I had to endure on that hot and humid day was looking for a new apartment... always a pleasure.

I think you will get along nicely with the 1001 based on how your Pherrows and Canes look on you. Leaving measurements aside for a minute, the ''feel'' of the cut is quite similar to my 1947s but slimmed down just a shade and with a shorter back rise.

  11. Herpsky - Yes, I live in Hong Kong but not ''from'' here. Why the dislike of Onibus and Switch? Can't comment on many of your other points but agreed on Streamer - not really my thing at all and wasn't impressed.

  12. Haha, trust you to notice the Flat Head shirt Ben... I take a 42 in this one, as advised by the guys at RJB Daikanyama. It runs small and fits just like a typical 40 from TFH. Yes, it's quite lightweight and a great choice for summer: probably somewhere between chambray and oxford cloth in terms of weight and it's a soft fabric, despite looking dry and crumpled in the photo.

  13. For Iron Horse: here's how my WH 1001 fit on me (5'11'', 154lbs). I take a tagged 31.

I'm looking forward to wearing these in the Autumn. Right now it's too damn humid to consider anything but well-worn Fullcount!

  14. Good man. Both of those cuts are excellent. By the way, unless you're super tall or long-legged, there's still some extra length to cuff. I'm 5'11" and get a decent 1.5" cuff on my 1001.
