  1. Is there any drawbacks to ordering from rakuten when you're based in USA? Is shipping a lot, are there any added fees? Can you use paypal?

I've been thinking of getting IH 634... I am about a size 33 in Samurai S710, for a comfortable fit in IH 634 (non sanforized) should I go with 33?

I haven't ever orderd, but I have looked into it. Yes, shipping can get pricy, yes it's more of a hassle to order from there. If you can order directly from the merchant imo it's worth it otherwise you need a proxy. Only time I have ever gotten something from Japan directly was for the samurai S500jxlr competition.

I am unsure as to how much a proxy is although I know they aren't terrible expensive. In the end you still get it cheaper, but not by a ton unless you pay NY taxes (like me  )

  2. lax, great job man, yore doing a great job of keeping tones even.

I will say, dont get too tempted by lens flare, otherwise youll have a book full of lens flares.

Thank you brotha - I have a roll of BW to develop still.

I'll definitely keep that in mind, I do like it occasionally.

  3. Get the 28 hands down. They may be a bit tight at first but I promise they'll stretch a bit. My measurements for my 2105s are:

    Waist: 16.2" (aligned)

    Knee: 8.2"

    Hem: 7.9"

    Thigh: 10.7"

The waist sits on my hips vs. my actual waist, so that's more so the reason the waist is bigger. Although I would highly recommend getting the 28. They ain't skinny jeans, so you shouldn't expect the thighs to stretch out all that much.

  4. The pic of the hole in the knee with the muddy weft threads poking through kinda makes me horny for another pair of SG's already. But I MUST get a pair of 666-XHS first.

HAHAHAHA denim porn at its finest... they actually saved me from a long boarding accident my first week of longboarding...

Laxlife, those look awesome! How'd you size and got any fit pics? Thinking about picking up a pair myself.

I went with a 29 in these which is my regular size for denim that isn't overdyed. Right now I'm back to being incredibly skinny again and they are big on me at a size 29. I could have actually sized down one for a slimmer fit. I say go for it dude! I hope my pair inspires you to get a pair. No recent fit pics due to no tripod but here's an oldie.

  5. Laxlife your SG are looking really awesome! Can't stop watching them.

Keep them alive for ever and promise me to never ever throwing them away

You got it Ruedi  ;) One of these days when I go to Europe again I'll stop by the jeans museum.

  6. Thanks everyone!

Gotta keep in mind that all Strike Gold fabrics are different! Although I love them all, I would love to own one of the 5xxx's, but my next pair on my list is a pair of IH's. Then one of the type III SExIH jackets if I can get my hands on a decently priced one...

    Looking awesome lax!

Funny the stages of denim, I find the first 3 months a joy as they stay relatively dark.  3-6 months the "questioning stage" where they kinda look weird, due to not looking new but not faded enough to look rad. I get excited from 6-9 months in anticipation of what they look like from 9-12+! Haha

On that note, I have noticed that most people who sell their second hand denim usually do around the 4 month mark?!

Thanks my friend. Heh you're right on that, at least I've noticed with Strike golds that's the case... Weird though because for the first 6-7 months the fading is so slow and then its like they become sandpapered they become so faded lol.

  7. if you need a size 36 buy mine off of me.

    If only they were a 29.. :(

Pretty much, have around a 36.5-37 inch waist and these were 37.5 pre soak.

Ok gotcha. thanks for ansering mate, hope to see some future evo pics from ya.

  8. I like them, haven't been wearing them as much as I want to because I also have my contest pair of PBJs to wear but these are still really nice. They felt a bit awkward in the top block at first but thats probably because of the weight. They've since settled down nicely. They also seems to fade pretty damn quick.

Gotcha gotcha. I've never owned a pair of 301 cut from IH, but I have owned 634 and have 666 as well. I'm thinking if I get a pair it'll be a 30, did you go tts?

  9. @lax- Lovely portraits. I like the fact that she still has natural texture in her skin rather than an airbrushed and faux smoothness. The lighting is striking and calm and the pops of color mixed with cooler tones in the set is refreshing to see. Killer shots dude.

thanks for the kinds words man!! idk if you are interested, but this really helped me https://fstoppers.com/post-production/ultimate-guide-frequency-separation-technique-8699
