comments and compliments will be directed her way!

How about this ? Looks fabulous ! Makes me want to get a pair of APC New Standards !

  2. Hey all. I tried pulling a dkatz (shirt tucked in) but honestly, I looked kinda retarded. It didn't suit me so I yanked the shirt out again. Tucked in shirts, belt and skinny jeans (Tellason if I'm not mistaken) look awesome on dkatz though.

As far as IH shirts go, I wear em in an XS -- all of which I've ordered from Giles in the UK. I'll be honest -- they're not very feminine cut. That's why I prefer wearing them as shirt jackets over Ts. I probably won't be buying any more Japanese Denim XS shirts -- IH or Flat Head or any other brand. As far as button up shirts go, I prefer the fit of Ladies versions from The Gap, LandsEnd, LLbean, JCrew, etc...But for those of you who want that rugged (but fitted), lumberjack, macho, manly Clint Eastwood look -- buy IH Shirts ! And oh, there's one exception -- the SuperBlack XS I own (also from Giles) -- that one is cut for a lady and I love it !

Here's me dancing, acting silly this morning :

  3. Hello. I had dinner tonight at DOSA in San Francisco's Mission district with my Mom and cousin. Yes, Self Edge is just 3 blocks away from DOSA but I didn't stop in. Are you fucking kidding me ? I cannot go into SESF every time I'm on Valencia Street...!! cuz, the thing is, when I set foot into that store, I buy shit !

  4. Paul T. and anthonyoj, yeah...I feel lucky to work walking distance from Telegraph Road, Bezerkeley ! It's also about a 10-minute BART ride from Oakland. Actually, I'm partial, but Oakland-Berkeley-SF is a heavenly trifecta...you really can't ask for a more amazing place to call home !

Paul T., to answer your question, the two best South Indian eateries in The Bay Area are 1) Udupi Palace (locations all over The Bay -- there's one in downtown Berkeley too) which is 100% vegetarian and also 2) DOSA -- locations all over SF. There's a Dosa right in The Mission...a stone's throw away from SESF in fact. I religiously go to both a few times per month. As far as Udupi goes, I typically eat at the huge lunch buffet on Saturdays in Fremont. (Berkeley's Udupi doesn't do buffets). I believe I posted a pic of the Fremont Udupi Palace once in WAYJDT -- when Mum and I hiked Mission Peak (also in Fremont).

  5. Well, of course, I'm working today but on most days, I have lunch on Telegraph Road in Berkeley -- which is walking distance from my workplace. I almost always end up at Naan n' Curry...after all, my ethnicity is South Indian ! Telegraph Road is the hippest place to be in Berkeley. Mostly, at lunch time, you run into Cal professors, Cal students as well as druggie street kids with their sick (as in unhealthy, not well) dogs.

Note Amoeba Records and Rasputin Music, two Berkeley classics. I'm surprised that they're still open in this shitty economy and age of iTunes -- but they supposedly have an awesome vinyl record selection.

And, oh, I only go for one trip to the buffet. That heaping plate you see is all I eat for lunch. I'm not 'fraid of onions and raw chillies !

I'm wearing : Schott Perfecto Steerhide, AA Tri-blend Vneck, IH 301S, IH Super Tan Belt, Sperry Topsiders.

Finally got my belt back and my jawnz no longer have 4 crotch blowouts.

evilcrayon, I have two things to say. 1) IH 301s look fucking amazing on you.

    2) You are a poster child for "Don't buy more jeans ! Stick patiently with one pair and wear til death !" Your jeans are a masterpiece -- a true work of art, evil !

Unrelated -- but, I wish I could get crotch blowouts. :( That would be cool. But it probably ain't happenin'. For one thing, I don't bike...and I hear that's how they happen. For another, I'm a girl -- no further explanation needed. I'm jealous of your back pocket tears too, evilcrayon ! I want some !

  7. Me and my jeans (IH 634S) walked like a million miles today and snapped several photos of Lake Merritt, "The crown jewel of Oakland". NYC has got Central Park. San Francisco's got Golden Gate Park. LA's got Griffith Park in Hollywood ? And Oakland's got Lake Merritt Park ! Hope you enjoy !

  8. Two WAYJDT posts in one day ! Well, Mum and I hopped over to San Francisco for a bit today -- lower Russian Hill.. (Polk Street). I'm wearing the same as before -- Oakland T from www.pure510.com, IH Super Tan Belt, IH 634S, Softwalk Sandals. San Francisco is about a 15-30 minute drive from my place in Oakland (depends on traffic). Most of the time, I take BART over (public transit) but today we drove.

    Hope you enjoy the tour.

Everyone loves Royal Ground coffee. I don't see what the big deal is. I much prefer Philz (a small Bay Area chain, San Francisco original)...but I needed some caffeine in my system after a big lunch.

  9. This morning, Mum and I took in the local rose garden. Here are some sights we saw during our morning walk. PS. I do an enormous amount of neighborhood walking in my spare time...so comfortable shoes are very important to me. I find boots not even remotely comfortable -- that's why -- unless I'm hiking on rough terrain, I simply refuse to wear boots (and even then, I wear proper hiking boots -- none of this Alden, Red Wing, White's stuff...my feet are waay too small for those anyway). For city streets and urban environments, I prefer sandals, Birkenstocks, Danskos, and yes, God forbid...even running shoes !!

    What I'm wearing :

Ladies Oakland T Large from www.pure510.com

IH Super Tan Belt from SESF (W32)

    IH 634S from SESF (W30)

    Softwalk Sandals from zappos (6.5N)

Hope you enjoy the scenery from our morning walk. Oakland homes are just beautiful, aren't they ? They look distinctly different from San Francisco homes -- but they are equally lovely.

This rose garden is mostly kept up by neighborhood

volunteers...The garden is the most lush right after the rains,

say around April or May. Today it was pretty dried up...

  10. Hello everyone. 3-Day weekend ! Hurrah ! Here I am in my Iron Heart 634S...I'm gonna rock these for awhile. My Sugar Cane Oki experience in the early summer have made me re-discover love for em. I bought these at Self Edge SF in 2006 -- a few months after the store opened. Derek convinced me to get these. 301S weren't even an option then. My Mum (who has a sharp tongue and doesn't hold back brutal honesty) prefers these MUCH to the 301S on me. She doesn't find the 301S disgusting on me, but she prefers the 634S by a landslide. Part of it, I think, is that she thinks I'm "too old" for 301S...and perhaps she's right. After all, I'm 46 years old ! A "young 46" who is in good shape, sure, but still -- I'll be 47 next year ! Those on SuFu of Asian ethnicity can probably relate....our Mums are cut of the same cloth. No harm done, I love my Mum lots...

    IH 634S from SESF (W30/L32) - 3 washes/tumble dry

Softwalk Sandals from zappos (6.5 N)

  11. Embrace the "looser" fits Z! To be honest they still are considerably thin IMO....A good switch up for you nonetheless

-Z- I agree with everyone here. The looser fits are truly becoming on you, Man. They look great, especially because you're so tall (6'4" right ?) ! The last couple jeans I bought have been "boyfriend style" loose fit (IH and another pair of Sugar Cane Oki) -- W30. They are definitively loose on me but after I wore chantheman's SC Okis for awhile, I enjoyed the look and the comfort. I'm of the mind -- either go "skinny and fitting" or "boyfriend loose" -- one is the extreme of the other. You will LOVE your Sugar Cane Hawaii's. I love SC Hawaiis and Okis as much as I love Iron Hearts, though I'm warning you, the SC are A BITCH to fade -- but they seem virtually indestructible, just like Iron Hearts.

  12. Hello. I'm watching "60 Minutes" at the moment, took a break to snap these photos for ya. The "Bloom Box", an alternative energy solution previewed on "60 Minutes" tonight-- sounds amazing."The Emmys" were boring as shit -- but I watch very little TV to begin with so I don't know much about today's TV serials.

PS. I think I look kinda dorky in glasses but I'm blind as a bat and just removed my contact lenses for the night.

    IH 301S from SESF (W28)

    Softwalk Sandals from zappos (6.5N)

  13. love your 301s shub. hiking is so much fun especially when you get to see them rattlers/

to top it all off, indian food after a hike for the win!

zeen, the 301S are surprisingly breathable...it was a hot day for Bay Area standards -- say, 80F...and I didn't feel like I was compromising at all (in the name of denim-head-stubbornness). Actually, after seeing those rattlers slithering and sliding toward me, I wouldn't go hiking in anything else but Iron Hearts !

  14. Mum and I went back to Fremont for a Mission Peak hike again. My mother is in training for Mt. Whitney (which she climbs every year). So, here we go again !

I tried to give you a different perspective this time. I'm wearing an American Apparel tri-blend unisex T, IH Super Tan Belt, IH 301S and Hi-Tec hiking boots.

  15. One of my favorite activities (I know, this is gonna sound weird) but...as I was saying...it's to go cemetery strollin'. There's a huge, beautiful cemetery close to home (in Oakland, of course), and Mum and I walk it once a week, on an early Saturday or Sunday morning. The pictures look gloomy because, well, Oakland mornings are typically gloomy !

I hope you enjoy the tour !

Saw these beautifully restored Oakland houses on the way home...

these were likely built in early, early 1900...Keep in mind, this ain't the suburbs. These are homes in Oakland The City.
