Hey! My broken record comment wasn't aimed at one person, but at the entire thread in general.
Oh, sorry Rnr. I didn't mean to imply you were directing that at anyone in particular. I was multi-tasking, trying to gently chide others and pick on you at the same time. Next time I'll give you my undivided attention.

Dkatz- you're a good son. So which are you going to go with- 35 or 36? Or, if he's much like you, a 34?

To quote a wise man, okay well maybe not wise, but a man nevertheless.
Hey! Don't get me involved in this.
But since you did, you guys aren't properly appreciating Airfrog. He has the strength of his convictions, and a string of dramatically worn in jeans that look, in my opinion, great.
He's a cocky motherfucker, and he seems to know it. You of all people, Rnr, should be glad that there are some of us who appreciate that sort of thing.

So, a pair of ROYs are potentially in the works for me.However, still stuck in the sizing phase.
*Long and inane post start*
(abridged) "stretchy?"
*Long and inane post end*
In regards to stretching, the ROYs probably would stretch out beyond their original waist size, especially if worn while wet and some muscle applied, with the inherent puckers and stretch marks that come with that. Almost any jean will stretch out beyond their original waist size, except maybe those 110oz Ironhearts. ROY's denim seems to be less stretchy than APCs, but more so than most LVCs.
With the ROYs you will have problems with the thighs, though. Their being of much less circumference than the waist, they have less material and thus less potential to stretch, and they are already cut fairly slim.
If your thighs are relatively thin compared to your waist, you might could downsize. But you would be verging on Russel Brand-type skinny fit there. If that's what you want, why don't you give it a try and post your results? I don't believe anyone here has tried down-sizing yet.
For the 100% cotton thread advocates- could you explain in more detail why this feature is important to you? Not a challenge, just curiosity.

Finally, page 39 opens for me.
Well done, dr. house.
Keep in mind the denim is stretchy.
For what it's worth, I think if you go TTS you end up with a typical LVC '47 fit, once the waist has stretched out.
I think Entertainment compared a TTS+1 fit to a mid-50s Lee fit?
You'll sort of win either way.

Is this the limey you speak of?
The very same one. Interesting that he was in line with me for free soup, yet smelled like posh beer.
-Z-, all of the LVC stuff I was wearing in my last post was designed by a faggot (two actually), so I guess that should have been:
"Faggot LVC x3"

Hey Roy how do you like those 333s? Great vintage look you have going there.
Thanks!
I love the 333s, but I didn't realize how over-sized they were when I ordered them. This pair is taken in at the waist and the cinch is tied pretty much at the bases, so kind of baggy. If it fit better I'd wear them all the time, I think.
Really a different denim for LVC.

You look like you need a job, Roy. Maybe I can spare some change for a poor fella down on his luck.
You should have seen the limey in front of me in the soup kitchen line.

I know, right? I'm genius.

nice fit there medine....now there are at least two Roy's in the Chicago area haha...
And on Roy taking a break and his personal thanks to superfuture (hello Roy if you're reading this), I gotta say I can't wait to see what else is in store in the next few months...It'll work out perfectly as I'll hopefully have broken in my pair by then...
Thanks to rnr and this kind of shit:
for turning ROY into this:

Looking good, Medine. I was hoping someone else would size up and post pictures. Entertainment- how about some more pics of yours now that they're broken in some? Unless there were some already on page thirtyfuckingnine.
dr.house-

Agreeing with vinneus & aho- denim is very stretchy. No work at all to stretch back out to pre-soak waist size. Probably could stretch past original waist size, but then the thighs would be awfully tight.

That's pretty amazing. Especially how clean the cloth side looks, for such an old jacket. If only LVC had redone this one when they still had Aero. They would have done it justice.
Another original Levis jacket, never seen one like this before....

p.s. Dr_Heech- you seem to have a good memory for this kind of detail- do you remember what kind of leather the first version of the Menlo was made from?
It's so light, I think I have sweatshirts that weigh more than this jacket. Has a really substantial look, though, and an intense grain.

Here you go jwsach. Sorry, the lighting sucks. I'll try and do better this weekend.
I wanted those first buttons, the larger, darker wooden ones that were close in color to the original buttons from the repro (thanks silencejoe- sweet org pics from where?), but they were vintage and the place only had five of them (needed thirteen). These are the second choice, horn, really nice up close but not as contrasty from afar.
Entertainment, yep, I traded with King Levi. He lives up the street from me. Lazy sot, couldn't even take his own pictures. I gave him an xl blue-black (which actually fits as a large) which is up on the bay now, if anyone's in the market.

I saw the original Menlo jacket (not the original repro, but THE original) about 7-8 years ago sell on ebay for about $600.
Do you know if it went to Japan? This was in a recent Lightning magazine (vol78):
This was an all vintage issue, and at first I thought the owner might be mistaken, and this was the LVC model, but there are some subtle differences. LVC usually get their jackets pretty close to the originals, but this is really eerie. (The color in mine looks to have been sun-faded a bit).
mine again:

Did some trading this weekend and ended up with this beauty- the first of the two versions of the Menlo jacket LVC produced in 2005/2006.
This one's been loved almost to death- it has a lot of scrapes and a few small tears. Looks great to me. It does need buttons though. I've been looking at some vintage-type buttons and have narrowed it down to three. Any advice would be appreciated.

For anyone looking at the 1920 201 from the Jingo sale, I just got mine and their stock actually seems to be labeled almost true. At least, the one I received labeled 32 x 34 measured just under 33 x 34.

My name is Electrum and I used to like LVC but now I don't really like it anymore...
