  1. I'm being sorely tempted by all the recent links in this thread! I'm recycling shedloads of stuff at the moment to fund a mortgage deposit, and the money is burning a hole in my PayPal pocket the minute it comes in!

You see a fair amount of selvage in Brum, mainly Naked & Famous or APCs, with the occasional PRPS. Better than nothing, I guess...

I shall henceforth stop posting such links and remove all temptation to ensure you do not stray from the path of thriftiness.

Alternatively, sell off your boot collection and buy a mansion!

  2. Where can MIJ raw Edwins be picked up in a straight fit like the ED-47? Are the Nashvilles NOT made in Japan?

Nashvilles and Waynesvilles, like the ED range are all made in Tunisia now. The only MIJ you'll be able to pick up are the SEN range or the new heritage range (available at Cultizm, which cost over £300!).

  3. Thanks Maynard for your tip.

The Edwin Nashville or Edwin Greenville have still one of the best price/quality balance. I just got the last pair in my size!!!!

Glad someone acted on the info. I still have 2 pairs of Waynesvilles from the MIJ days, one is almost 7 years old, worn for about 1.5 years, the other is 3.5 years old with a few months wear and has been put away for the future. They're fantastic value jeans.

  4. :D

cheers for the shout on the hideout. will swing by that way next time i'm in london.

killer b - all the decent sizes are gone in the sand 1901s at ln-cc, the online shop doesn't reflect actual stock. They only have tagged 33s and 34s left and they're apparently 3" oversized, according to the helpful ln-cc lady I spoke to. I even sent her the BiG guidelines to help her measure the waist accurately! Looks like my "wait and they'll be reduced further" tactic has backfired. Ho hum...

  5. Thanks Paul, I do think you're the only one on here that's old enough to have heard them all first time around! However, your info about Hideout is spot on - miscellaneous models and sizes for £120, although if you're nice to Tony the owner, he may give you a £10 discount...

Finally, and please be nice here mods, it's Friday afternoon wind-down time (in the UK anyway). Here are the top 10 Edinburgh Festival jokes (courtesy of BBC online):

    1) Nick Helm: "I needed a password eight characters long so I picked Snow White and the Seven Dwarves."

    2) Tim Vine: "Crime in multi-storey car parks. That is wrong on so many different levels."

    3) Hannibal Buress: "People say 'I'm taking it one day at a time'. You know what? So is everybody. That's how time works."

    4) Tim Key: "Drive-Thru McDonalds was more expensive than I thought... once you've hired the car..."

    5) Matt Kirshen: "I was playing chess with my friend and he said, 'Let's make this interesting'. So we stopped playing chess."

    6) Sarah Millican: "My mother told me, you don't have to put anything in your mouth you don't want to. Then she made me eat broccoli, which felt like double standards."

    7) Alan Sharp: "I was in a band which we called The Prevention, because we hoped people would say we were better than The Cure."

    8) Mark Watson: "Someone asked me recently - what would I rather give up, food or sex. Neither! I'm not falling for that one again, wife."

    9) Andrew Lawrence: "I admire these phone hackers. I think they have a lot of patience. I can't even be bothered to check my OWN voicemails."

    10) DeAnne Smith: "My friend died doing what he loved ... Heroin."

  6. The rise makes the waist of your jeans sit higher or lower on your body, not make the crotch hang lower or higher. Tuck your shirt in if you don't like how long it is.

I don't agree. If you wear Jean A with a 10" rise on the same part of your body (waist/hips) as Jean B with a 12" rise, ie sagging Jean B rather than pulling it up, the crotch of Jean B will hang lower.
