  1. Love the color. I like the leeway boat shoes and moccasins tend to receive in breaking away from the browns and blacks of most leather shoes.

On an unrelated note, has anybody else had to get used to the sound of shoe trees settling in the middle of the night? Sometimes it's a little eerie hearing what could almost be a quiet footstep in the corner of my bedroom at 3am.

I don't think that's shoe trees. Time to call pest control or Ghostbusters!

  2. Boots...then shoes, if the boots work for you... :D

Anyone here have any experience of dyeing leather? Got a little restoration 'project' underway, and think that leather dye might be the only way forward...

I think mikecch dabbles in that dark art. Worth giving him a pm.

  3. Can anyone confirm whether the new 1004XX is exactly the same model (same cut/measurements) as the 700XX with the addition of arcs and red tab? Or is it slightly different?

I couldn't find measurements of the 1004XX on the Warehouse site to compare it and Rakuten measurements are not the most reliable.

    Thanks Warehousers!

  4. Hmmm- I've traded a new and unworn prewashed 501 (guess a 66 model), paper tag, fabric made in the USA, jean made in turkey, tags and all but with a SMALL E tab. Bought from Barneys N.Y. Any suggestions???

    If it's selvage, then '78 or '83 or else a non-LVC model, perhaps a standard Levi's special edition 501.

Aeroleather.com has pics of the 78 and 83.

  5. Gave my Canes to him today.

Only getting the largest rip/hole repaired proper and going to get them back in 2 weeks IIRC.

I can live with the other holes.

Apparently his hand had been infected from some du's jeans before?

That's what I heard - from a crotch repair on some dirty jeans apparently, although I'm not sure how that's possible. I assume his hand was cut already.

    They weren't mine - honest!

  6. whats the slimmest SDA? ive checked the 103s and the leg opening is still to big for me in the size i would need. Do they make anything slimmer then that?

I did see the new ones on BIG in that light blue vintage version but was hoping for something in a dark denim instead.

    Thanks

    SDA-106 are slimmer.

  7. Son of a Stag now have some jeans from the new Edwin Heritage line. They're a tapered cut (roomy enough on the top block) using raw unsanforized 14 oz Nihon Menpu rainbow selvage denim ( a much thinner selvage line than their standard ED offerings), which may be the same as that used on the ROY world tour jeans. They have hidden back pocket rivets, hammered rivets elsewhere, donut fly buttons and nice thin arcs. They are made in Japan.

They felt substantial and more like the other high quality Japanese repros rather than most of Edwin's current range. Apparently the shop will soon be getting in some looser cut cinch-backs from the Heritage line too.

I'm glad Edwin have done this as they seemed to have slipped behind many of their competitors in the repro niche market. The only downside is the price - £320!!!

  8. I've had mine for a couple of years now TF, it's a great shirt and ageing well. I sized down to a M so it's fairly fitted and it's cold wash only. It's a cool combination of western styling without the front shoulder yolk. Keep it quiet though, we don't want too many people sporting them!

    Must spread MP...just insane!

and i just got this the other...IHSH-13

...and if anyone is on the fence about buying this...just press the fucking button, this thing is a true beauty!

  9. I heard he fell to pieces when he had to get his kit off in the launderette...

He couldn't handle it, he was a total mummy's boy.

His modelling career nosedived after that and he ended up getting arrested for his involvement in a pyramid-selling scheme.

  10. Lets have those pics -from when you and Paul T met up in the U.K:D

    Here you go.

In the pub. The transatlantic duo were surprised at how alike they were:

They moved on to do some karaoke (note Paul T's crotch repair):

The boys monopolized the karaoke machine all night. The ROYxCones took severe punishment from their wild dance moves:

  11. It's probably because it's a chainstitch, just like on the hem. That's how they unravel, unfortunately. Any decent tailor/machinist can fix that with a standard lockstitch machine or you could sew it by hand.
