    Too late :D

Ordered them. For 250£ I couldn't really say no...

Ignore the naysayers T, I think they’ll go well with your casual style, I wore my Alfred Sargent Dumfries (they must be 11 or 12 years old now) to the pub last night. You can’t go wrong with classic English brogue boots.

  2. Rather than buy them simply because they’re discounted (they’re Trickers so I doubt they’ll ever be cheap!), ask yourself if they’re something you’d have liked anyway (or already do like) but just couldn’t justify at the full price. If so, then go for them, otherwise you’re just buying them because they’re Trickers and on sale in your size. I think we’ve all been down a similar route before.

  3. I like them but I have 3 pairs of brogue boots and numerous pairs of brogue shoes so am probably biased. What is the sole material - some kind of cork nitrile? I think triple leather, commando or dainite works best and I prefer a welt and sole that are more closely colour matched rather than the contrast on those. Just my $0.02.

    Who are they made by?

  4. I think that’s the industrial setting where he works! They’re a mid-rise, I can give you the measurement for my size 33 tomorrow but I think it’s a little over 11”.

EDIT: after a handful of wears, the front rise measures approx 11.25”.

  5. Hi b_F, I’ve only worn them a few times but I really like them as a slimmer alternative. I’m saving them for ‘smarter’ wear so progress will be very slow as I aim to keep them dark. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction of this pair as the size 32 I had were just too tight all around but these 33s are just perfect.

  6. I’d say keep them until you retire or really need the money Charlie and then sell them if necessary. If a pair of my jeans was worth £5k I’d sell them and just wear a pair of repros instead. Once they’re worn-in and washed, they’re just a pair of nice old jeans anyway.

i never wanted to dress like my middle aged dad when i was younger so i'm sure as hell he doesn't either.

During a ‘casual’ phase in my early teens, I, like many other urban youth, thought it was cool to dress like middle-aged golfers: v-neck woollen sweaters, perhaps with an argyle print, over a polo shirt or roll-neck sweater, teamed with some Farah slacks and, in my case, a pair of burgundy Kickers! What the hell were we thinking!!! 😂
