  1. Ran another 14k fun run today, bit of undulation but got it done in 55:30. pretty stoked, bonked and spewed with 500m to go a few dudes overtook me as i kinda deliriously stumbled over the line and spewed again but feels good to be achieving some goals.

  2. I spent the weekend up in the Blue Mountains supporting my friend who was doing http://www.thenorthface100.com.au . It was a fantastic event and my friend absolutely smashed it coming in 17th overall and 2nd in juniors and beating his goal time of 12 hours by 53 minutes! On the downside to seeing all this great running was that im 99% sure i have a stress fracture again so thats me done with running for 3 months or so =(.

  3. I live in canberra, been here 21 years. If your a student a great city, for 6 months its even better i would say. Culture is beginning to get better, the cafe scene, different types of bars and clubs. ANU is a great place to do exchange, there is an awesome community at the uni, the grounds are great, its next to the "downtown" area. Canberra has some hidden gems, its close to the beach and the snow, it certainly has enough to do, its definitely a friend reliant city though. People are generally pretty nice. PM me if you have more questions.

  4. Letting these go now:

The first is a 46 Anniversary MA-1from 2011. Its the green colourway with an orange lining. It's in 9.5 condition, small pilling on cuffs/colar otherwise perfect, big ykk zip runs smooth as the lining.

Photos etc can be found here, its the same one drew is modelling, my pics are in there as well: http://toj-gallery.com/main.php?g2_itemId=12852

Second is probably my most loved TOJ piece, its the oldest piece i have. A 46 2010 Suede Harrington in Persian Blue, likewise 9/10 with some pilling. I fucking love this piece and would really love to trade it for something similar.

Again, drew modelling it here: http://toj-gallery.com/main.php?g2_itemId=2110 and a photo of me: http://toj-gallery.com/main.php?g2_itemId=9428

Open to exchanges/trades+funds for junya/uc outerwear, preme maroon ma-1 or larger toj's

If any of u guys are keen you could camp with us no worries.

  6. Cortisone is pretty serious, overall not a good way to treat things long term. Stress fractures take months to heal and even then when getting back into will still ache in the old spot, if it feels like a deep kind of bruising when you push on the bone it's likely one of those.

re:running down hills fast, try to maintain a steady speed, try to maintain some forefoot strike, feels really weird at first but atleast the force isnt being transferred directly up your leg into your knee cap as it is if your landing on your heels.

Jackg, is your marathon goin to have drink stations with gatorade and water? If so you can plan to goo when you drink, helps absorb it and wash it down (most of them taste pretty gross). Do some reading and also some practice runs with goo's and jels. find what works for you, for marathons i eat one every 45mins. A friend of mine makes his own goo equivalent by mixxing up some kind of simple sugars (maltodextrin normally) with a little electrolytes (gatorade powder) and protein in a drink bottle, its pretty simple and cheap and works just as well as goo's but you have to have the bottle with you in a harness or a hand grip.

Its important to keep your body fueled but if your not used to them or your body is stressed they wont get absorbed (and you will get stomach cramps/spew).

Re food, something light to chew like almonds or seeds are nice way to break up the taste of goo's. You can fit a few into a pouch, some people hate to chew stuff whilst they run though. A muesli bar or a cliff bar is a nice thing to have halfway or so.

Recovery, i normally wear compression stuff after a run or even to bed if it's been a long one. I don't know if its placebo but it helps me feel better the next day. Stretching is so inconclusive and so many different people say different things, just do what works for you, routine is good though. I normally, Jog 5min> Dynamic (leg swings, arm swings etc)>actual run> dynamic stretch/recovery shake>foam/pvc roll out.

Hot showers are ok but just go for a 5min jog to get warmed up before you want to stretch, recovery runs like 2-3k are pretty good.

Good luck. My stress fracture feels fairly solid now so ill sign up soon.

also ran in matching gyak before, some people think its cool, some people think your just like those fat dudes that ride 20kms a week in head/toe rapha, doesnt really bother me. If i want to spend some money on clothes for something idgaf what others think.
