Those Wolverine pics have reminded me to ask where you get flat waxed laces. I've never seen them in store nor can I find them online. I tried calling Red Wing and they wouldn't sell any to me.

While I think those Wolverines look nice, there's something that annoys me philosophically that I can't quite put into words.

I would say that the 1947's would be your safest bet. They fit very similar to Levi's current 514 Slim Straight fit, and have the lowest waist of any that I've tried. I own the 33's, 47's, and 55's, and multiple pairs of each. The best fit that I've found, though, for slimness and for having a "modern" waist height is the 47's. I would size up at least 2 in the length (arguably more if you like to cuff) and I would go true to size in the waist. These are definitely a jean that I would soak while wearing in a bathtub, rather than soak and hangdry. Good luck, though there are probably better brands for women, such as skull or nudie that feature raw selvedge denim.

The 1947s are by no means "low rise," though.

I know Red Wings aren't exactly a "top tier" boot, but they're damn solid. I've been wearing these GTs every day for a year and have put them through hell: 10+ mile hikes, biking, and a 3-month stay in Europe. I love them (though I'm psyched that my Bounty Hunters will be arriving soon...).

Fair enough. Still no charge so I suppose I should start being concerned tomorrow.

It's called a logger heel. It does "match up" for what these boots are all about: Cutting down trees with a huge chainsaw all day every day, and making sure it doesn't fall on you. Or just working your ass off on your feet every damn day. Wescos, and many (most?) of the best work boots in the world, have a similar heel.

The heel functions well. I assure you, after breaking a pair of White's in and wearing them and seeing how your feet never hurt, and your back never hurts, even after standing in them all day, you will understand.

Who decides what's feminine, by the way? George Washington wore tights. Cowboys and every guy in Texas wear cowboy boots with an even higher heel. And Clint Eastwood too.

This makes sense. My job isn't exactly rugged (I'm a barback at a coffee shop), but upon switching to my Bounty Hunters from my Red Wings there was a huge change in my comfort. Since I'm on my feet all day, usually hunched over--my lower back, feet, and toes are usually pretty sore. That all went away once I started wearing White's.

Ordered a pair of jeans last night and they still haven't charged my card yet. is this normal?

I got those laces too, but I'm using the laces that came with my Indy boots.

The leather looks different because the guys at Baker allegedly took off the wax that gives the "brown smooth" its dull look (by my request), but it looks like they only did it to the toe.
