  1. Was reading about the looming expiration of Pfizer's patent on Viagra when it occurred to me that big pharma essentially derives a huge percentage of its profits treating 1st world problems.

Lipitor - treats high cholesterol caused by poor diet, obesity & lack of exercise.

Lyrica - Treats neuropathic pain in appendages caused by diabetes.

Viagra - Treats erectile disfunction which can be caused by side effects of anti-depressants, age, diabetes.

Nexium - Treats heartburn which can be caused by poor diet & diabetes.

Plavix - Prevent stroke/heart attack due to poor diet, obesity & those at high risk (aka those living that 1st world lifestyle y0)

And the list goes on. You don't hear about third world countries complaining about the long term side effects of eating too many cheezburgers.

  2. I always cringe when a perfectly good car is destroyed is a stunt. Even when they do it in top gear. someone could probably use that car.

You have to consider that destroying the car may have created more wealth or utility than it had just sitting there as a grocery getter.

Then again, that sounds like the broken window fallacy.

Now i just don't know what to think

  3. I was always told it's healthier to eat smaller amounts more frequently rather than one or two big meals

this is an ongoing debate in the world of fitness. I can't say what is right or wrong, however some academic research suggest intermittent fasting (IF) may have merit. Coming from months of personal experience, many small meals a day can promote fat loss, however it can drive you crazy through depriving you of regular and truly filling meals (not to mention stress caused by timing & social restriction).

Based on the great deal of anecdotes ive read, those who adopt a fasted eating routine (15-19 hours fasting, 2 or 3 meals split over the remaining time) say the diet is more sustainable in the long run, as in months to years. Its probably a combination of psychological and hormonal reasons.

  4. So i mow for my neighbor and I think i fucked his mower up big time. I was going by the curb, and the blade hit the shit out of the concrete, and I'm pretty sure the mower is fucked. I feel like an asshole and pulled a bitchmove and just used my mower and didn't tell him what happened, and he just text me saying that I need to start using his again. I'm going to tell him what happened when I mow next, and tell him I'll cover for the repair. Unfortunately, this is probably going to cost a shitload to fix. Anybody else have something like this happen?

lol... borrow mower, break the shit out of it.

Have you bothered to turn it over and look at it? The best you could hope for is a fucked up blade because those are cheap and simple to fix.

  5. lol typical of sufu to completely disregard the technical achievement of the project, instead finding ways to criticize the 'essence' or 'soul' of the car.

You know how when you first start drawing, it takes hours and hours to create something that looks remotely close to what you were aiming for? Its like that except times 1000.
