...the saga continues, here's another contender Ryan, not the hair on patch.. and not quite the pocket shape you're after but damn close..

Thanks mate , seen those on my hunting ..... lovely pair of jeans but just not what I’m after . It’s those lovely rounded pockets that really make them special for me

I wasn't being critical, i think jeans still have a future as something for keeping your legs in, but these larger wallets have a pouch for change and a flap for notes, they'll last a lifetime but serve very little purpose the way society is heading regarding cash.

No mate , didn't think you were .... I just didn't want to come off as being critical

I know the differences may be minimal, but which jacket do you prefer @Flash or is that a contentious issue?

I'm not quite sure mate , there both awesome in there own right .

I love the fit on the ww2 for its boxy fit and the room for heavy sweats but I also love the tighter fitting 46 because I love the contrast when wearing looser fitting jeans

The ww2 wins as far as denim and details though ( love the simplicity) but then again the 46 also has some great little things like the shirt weight denim lining the pocket flap

So it's kind of a 6 of one ... half a dozen of the other type thing

Wished my boy liked wearing jeans. Right now he’ll only wear sweatpants :(

The denim is actually pretty soft , I definitely dont want Jack to be wearing super stiff starchy denim so I hand washed them with a little soap to remove most of the starch . I can understand about the sweatpants though :D

    @Flash

    Just an FYI..

The centre back belt loop was moved to the offset position in 1958 then was returned to centre position 1966.

The cardstock patch wasn't introduced until 1959 at the earliest, and the words Every garment guaranteed were removed from the patch in late 1961.

Is this info from the little japanese book mate ? I was mainly using the 501xx book for reference , crazy how much the dates can change from book to book .

  7. Not much going on today , weathers a bit weird .... snowing one minute and sun splitting the trees the next so I took some pics of some 503zxx

Ok so starting at the top .

They feature a card patch without "every garment guaranteed" so that puts them post 62 and since the middle belt loop moved back to the centre just after 63 , these must have been made sometime in 1963

    Middle .

So these have a leather patch with off centre belt loop , that means they have to be post 54 but before the change to card patch in around 57 . So these were made anytime between 1954 - 57

    Bottom

These are the earliest pair I own , the centre belt loop and the leather patch put them somewhere between 1953-54 .

I'd love to find out more about the single sided tab 503zxx ( that I'd love to own .... ) , zippers weren't used on mens Levi's until 1954 so that date can be disregarded because the single sided red tab was phased out in 51/52 , so the 503zxx could have been introduced as far back as 1947 ??? Not even sure where to start in terms of research but I'd love to find out

    Anyway... more pics
