Denim Geek has a little ROY shout-out in their latest post. They seem to be under the impression that he's hoping to open a store based on his splashpage. Kind of a weird assumption/rumor to start; I know I definitely don't get that impression at all, but whatever-- Roy is like the wind. Plus, it builds some momentum for him as things get rolling this month.0

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of different models/pieces, washes, etc. That particular 501 jean wasn't the only thing Levi's produced in 1985. Kind of lackluster given the possibilities is all.

LVC just released a special 1985 501 jean for Barney's 25th Anniversary. I don't want to hate b/c I haven't seen these in person, and I do like Barney's and the LVC line, but is this really the best they could come up with?? (Raleigh Denim's pair looks pretty top notch by comparison.) Surely Levi's had a lot more to work with and choose from from that year?

looking good airfrog... must spread. did you go TTS on these? the whiskering, wear and stretch patterns look similar to mine. i picked up another pair of 47s on sale at bird (last pair for $88!), but they were TTS so I was wary, but couldn't pass up a deal. i did a warm 30-min soak and wore them for the next 5 hours til dry. yours look great. geez, what a great jean.

water and a teaspoon of all natural, biodeg. soap. If you dont add some sort of soap the water will not soak into the fabric, it is really water resistant. it was found in the desert.......
Can't wait to see more pics. Love the history (whatever that may be) hidden in a piece like that. I never would have imagined a need for a duck blouse of all things. What's all that in the upper left of the photo? Are you going to try and piece it together??

cool... where was it found? what're you cleaning it with?

Haha. Well, Roy himself DID say "soon". I doubt he meant November or later, right?

So Kiya any word on a SExROY collab or maybe a ROYxSE collab? You didn't really answer the questions. I am looking for another pair of standard cut jeans and really need a pair of ROYs.
Yeah, I quite literally click through from SuFu to Roy's site to SE to see what's new on this front every day. I'm growing restless...

How many people slagging off that fit were wearing their jeans like that three years ago???
Nice. I wasn't wearing pants quite that low and stacked, but I have friends and acquaintances that have and still do. Like I said, not my thing, but I don't mind it. It does bother me a bit that someone posted (kidclark) with good intentions and an appreciation for LVC and people (who I respect tremendously for their opinions and insights on this thread and elsewhere) for the most part shat all over it based on fit.
But then, everyone is entitled to their opinions and can have their say.

I would imagine him being arrested if he wore them like that back in 1947.
So would women who wear skirts above their knees.

These have a lot of give. These are a size 33 and right now the pants are at a 34.5 -- I'm always wearing a belt with these. I'm going to hold out as long as I can before soaking or washing.
katz, I'm with you... I'm still waiting for oboy_oboy to post his pics...

agreed. "handsewn"... looks like nothing an x-acto blade couldn't fix.

This looks like a nice piece on markdown at the Garbstore. Not sure if it's duck, but it looks to be.
Around $110 shipped to the US.

yeah ill just shoot for the 34 inseam thanks.
anybody have any ideas on how these were sized or soaked?
The fit's definitely not my bag, but I don't think it's terrible-looking, either. That's what I love about differing styles-- it may not jive with my own, but I can appreciate someone who rocks a pair of repro jeans and re-imagines/interprets how they can be styled. In this case, heavy on the stacking.
Without trying them on, you're probably best following riff's advice. Measure around the area where you want them to hit and then size up accordingly to account for shrink. Good luck!

Yeah, I think everyone gets the year ('85), the disappointment (which is not new) is that of all the possible choices/pieces for that year, this is the one they chose.
