  1. Here's 2 pics I took to try and get color right. Sorry, no fit-pic today, never got a chance with good lighting.

Oni Shoai (natural indigo), Samurai S0505XX (synthetic indigo), Samurai S510XX AI-N (natural indigo)

  2. I bought the size 31 Shoai last weekend from BIG too. I wanted that sze 32 Stacks!

I've done a 10 minute cold soak and so far they have stretched a good deal.

Stacks, want to trade? Mine are hemmed to a 35" inseam.

Sorry bud, I'm all legs can't rock hemmed jeans.

have you soaked them yet. if yes, how's the waist so far? too tight or just ok? i know there's not a lot of interest here on this kind of denim cuz a lot of the kids want the quick fades... plus these are f-ing indecently priced for most ppl, even at a 20% discount.

no one has ever posted an evo just yet, everyone's got ADD when it comes to breaking these fuckers. so hope you'd be able to show us the way. [for me] in particular, since mine is "on ice" right now, i'd be nice to know how much they'd actually stretch out. good luck and enjoy your pair.

I have hot-soaked these twice (hang dried) to get all the shrink out. The waist fits good on me, I can do measurements tomorrow but I factored in the shrink when buying. I do have to admit though, I got this sekret project I've been working on thats making me want to put these on hold, but I'll try my best to stay the course.

As people already stated, these are gonna be a mother to break in.

Fit pics please. I am curious as to how different the color is to last years run. Thanks.

    Expect some tomorrow.

  3. I picked up the purple selvage blue-fit shoai from BiG over thanksgiving (20% black friday discount, what what).I'm 6'3, 175lbs, true waist 33.5 so I went with the sz. 32 - they fit great but look a bit awkward due to the extreme rigidity.

This denim is ridiculous and awesome. Will post fit pics once they start falling a bit more naturally.

Bought these S505XX off sbbjm 5 months ago and have been wearing them ever since. I forget how long he had them but I guesstimate total age 2 years. Back pockets are starting to go but the rest is holding up beautifully. I think they'll be good for a couple more years. I have a few other pairs of Japanese repros but these are above and beyond my favorites.

I'll put up some more closeups tonight if there's interest.

  5. well thats a great thing to point out but after 5 months it's not really a pre soak now is it.

Yeah I didn't say it was, I just mentioned it because it is not ridiculous at all to avoid soaking DRY DENIM and 2 people "wtf'd" at that sentiment. There are good reasons not to wet dry denim for as long as possible. You may disagree but that doesn't make it invalid.

  6. and Diplo........... I'm with jcotteri on this.... wtf... r u talking about...?

He is sort of right. SExI are sanforized so there's no need for an initial soak to shrink the denim. I'm sure a soak will shrink these somewhat after they have been stretched out, but as we all should know by now it doesn't take too long to stretch back to where it was. In light of that fact, a hotsoak will really only give you a temporary shrink at the expense of your dry denim's shine. Thus, he is probably suggesting that you save the shine until they actually need cleaning.

I haven't soaked or washed mine yet, just into my 6th month and the waist has definitely stretched out past my liking. I am holding out till 1 year+ before they touch water though.

  7. I know the chances of finding these are slim to none, but whatever.

If anyone has a pair of these with a waist 32-34 I am willing to pay top dollar for them. Obviously the closer to new the closer to retail I will pay, but if the wear is good I'll probably pay damn close to retail.

So go ahead, make my day.

edit: offer revoked, there's much better out there now.

  8. I wish my 310's were 16oz :(

Speaking of, does anyone know if this 16oz denim really fades the same way as the 3XXX denim from the 310s? I'm assuming this 1001 denim is the same denim used in the SExFH which is advertised as having the same fading properties as the 3XXX.

I've had this question for bit but didn't know about the 1001 and its too soon to tell with the SExFHs it seems.

  9. I don't know if we're all wearing the same pair of denim but I'm obviously talking about the button fly bulge and the issue is that it's there even when you aren't sitting!

I realize crotch bulge is normal on some level when you sit but while standing? This never happens with my other jeans.

If you browse through some of the fitpics you should see what I'm talking about (the recent ones have long shirts though so kind of hard to tell.

The only thing I have been able to do to make it disappear is to pull the rise all the way up, but the cut begs to be sagged so its not a real solution.

  10. Well the cold soak info is somewhat reassuring. If an eventual soak will cure it I'll probably stick with it and wash at 1year or something.

And yes, the bulge is a big deal; I can't believe you miss it! It makes you look awkward while you're sitting and I'm pretty sure my lap fades will suffer because of it (theres an obvious non creased part on either leg where the bulge occurs).

Put it this way, if you had 2 identical sets of jeans and one had an awkward crotch bulge and the other didn't - which would you wear outside?

  11. Nice fit!

I'm almost at 6 months on mine and this fucking crotch bulge is not going away. It sucks because I feel like I'm on the verge of serious fading but not sure I want to continue knowing this bulge will always be there.
