  1. I bought these from BIG, but they are factory length cause I'm 6'3 and don't need hemming.

I could have asked Gordon to rehem them but that seemed like a shitty thing to do if you aren't getting them altered.

But since you mentioned it, I'm gonna go burn these now. They are ruined.

edit: nick, don't worry, I was being sarcastic. I'm in it for the long haul although I've been switching them up with some oni shoai.

  2. These are juuuuust starting to break, they are about 6 months old, 1 initial soak, first 3 months worn lightly since then pretty much every day. My goal is maximum contrast and I think this is the perfect denim with which to do so, the natural indigo is so dark but the yarn cores are white (unlike the new natural indigo pieces by Samurai). Anyway, this is what I got so far.

  3. guys, jw, but are the brands like naked and famous, APC, and Nudie, are they all synthetic dyed?? sorry for the noob question , but id appreciate if you answer it :)

    thanks

You can usually tell by the price point, probably because synthetic indigo can be made en mass while natural indigo has to be harvested(not sure if that's the right word).

If it costs less than 300 and doesn't hype that it uses natural indigo, I assume synthetic.

  4. My S510XX AI-N are just beginning to break. I will take some sunlight pictures tomorrow.

Note, however, that S510XX AI-N uses natural dye but the cores have been kept white, so I'm already seeing some light blues and even white on the pockets after only 4-5 months of intermittent wear. Best of both worlds, in my opinion, although they are not streaky like the SCs or the Onis.

Hopefully they turn out as awesome as I think they will.

  5. still waiting for stacks and quineskmosoaskda

sorry i just got back from vacation, will post up good pics tomorrow.

until then, here they are maybe 2-3 weeks of actual wear.

The 3rd one shows the denim best I think.

stacks i want to see the fit comparison on all 3 jeans that you have. I would love own a pair of shoais. or any onis for that matter

Here's the samurai s510xx AI-Ns for comparison, although I sized down a few on the Sams but went true to size with the Onis. I'll cover these more in the sam thread when they progress some more.

  6. a' bitch to break in' usually means a slow fade. its a shame some noobs think a slow fading jean is inferior or less-preferred than a fast fade. .

I said they seem like a bitch to break in, but respectfully I must disagree with you.

At least with my shoai, I meant that the denim has stayed uncomfortably stiff, but more importantly rough, much longer than any other denim I've worn, including 21oz denim like the S5000VX. These jeans could never fade and I wouldn't mind, but eventually I want to stop wearing cardboard pants.

I welcome the challenge, and will not give up, but these jeans are not being nice to my legs, truth be told.

edit: I see you said usually, so I guess I don't really disagree.

  7. I don't think craftsmanship = art. A great craftsman needn't make great art, just great quality product. At least for me, art inspires thought. I love my denim, but ultimately its purpose (for me) is to cover my legs, not to inspire thought.

And this is from someone who owns OniShoai. I appreciate every aspect of the creation process, and admire the craftsmanship that is responsible for them, but I couldn't say these great jeans move me the same way great (traditional) art does.

  8. cure: the contrast fading around the combs is great

Any comments on my BSP fit 2 pages back (post 1877) and how I should re-size? If you look at the sides in the rear photo and the upper seat in the side shot it seems there is a bit too much room. Thanks

I'd size down 1 or get a totally different model. You're right, the top block fits you quite awkwardly, but the legs seem OK.
