  1. I know some of you have used the repair service that Alden offers for their boots and shoes...I'm in need of new heels and soles for a pair of Indy's and was thinking of using this service since I can't find any shop that I can trust with my boots here in Las Vegas...

I was wondering however if Alden, through using this service, would place a double leather sole and heels on my Indy's if requested...Most of the people I've seen who have used this service seem to only have gotten the general cork soles and Trubalance heels placed on their 405's...I'm really looking to get double leather on these though so if anybody has any idea about this please help me out...

I have also wondered about this. I'm gonna need a new set of heels eventually and i'd like to keep the foot balance heel...Isnt the service rather expensive( around 250??) or does that depend on how clapped out your boots are?

  2. since the new year is right around the corner, and the new LVC line should be coming out soon, does anyone think/know if the US levi's website will have any of the LVC stuff available? 2008 yielded the terrible 1901 distressed jeans and distressed 66 501s. I haven't even seen any of the LVCs in the store near me besides those orange tab 517s that nobody bought. Maybe 2009 will be different?

BTW: levis should win the prize for most poorly designed websites world wide.

and...I got myself a pair of 1937 501s, my first pair of cinch backs. they're pretty cool. the denim looks real nice. It'll take some getting used to the lighter weight denim and the wider legs, but I'm very satisfied.

  3. the first pair of alden 405s I had ended up being too small for me, so I had resigned to selling them. So I ordered a new pair and once those came in I had noticed a significant quality difference in the leather, besides the fact that tanning was coming off around the laces and on the tongue after using them for only a week. The leather on the first aldens was extremely soft and very prone to scuffing, and the new ones I got (which fit and are great) are holding up 1,000 times better. So, I decided to call Alden after reading Akilae's post about his problem with the shoes. They told me to write a letter about my problem, put it in the box with the shoes and they would call me. I got a call a couple of weeks later saying that I was indeed correct about the leather, he said it was some sort of bad batch and that my shoes were falling apart. They asked me what dealer I bought them from and told me that they would have them issue me a full refund. I was very happy to hear this and proud that alden stood behind their product so strongly. So if anyone has any problems, all they need to do is give them a call and they will be glad to listen to you.

just thought this might be interesting considering all the talk about the recent quality control problems regarding the alden 405.

PS: I edited my original post and superfuture ate it. I dont know if it will come back, so if it double posts...oops.

  5. The party was two weeks ago at famed americana store Sivletto in Stockholm. I didn't ask the sales guy but I'm pretty sure it's Lee's own production. Overpriced as hell though, everything is around 300-350 bucks. I'll stick to the Edwin stuff.

ever heard of this place? they dont seem too over priced here - only 60 pounds (88.69 USD).

    they're lee gold label 101B

edit : nevermind, I guess gold label is different than the other reissues.

  6. I'd agree with you ^^

    thats a pretty ridiculous statement.

quite a few guitar companies still turn out an extremely high quality products. especially rickenbacker. I've heard plenty of complaints from owners of Gibson products and epiphone. The epiphone casino I bought was damaged in shipping then repaired by the store, so I got it super cheap; but I still had to spend $175 to make it a playable guitar. Lets just say the fret job was quite sub-par. It sounds great though.

Gretsch used to have some quality control problems, but fender seams to have fixed that.

I'm not saying that vintage stuff isn't cool and often times better, I just think that not even giving new guitars a chance is a bit much.

  7. hello everyone! I actually just discovered this awesome thread!

I couldn't find a decent picture of my amplifier, but it is a 2006 Vox AC-30CC2x.

I dont have any photos I've done of my equipment, so I just found these on the net.

  8. thanks for all the rep and compliments, and paul, those pictures of your 47s in the 501 thread were what made me decide to get a pair.

yeah, I do intend to keep wearing these. Right now I'm rotating them with another pair of 47s, and I plan on adding some 37s to the rotation soon.
