  1. I'm going to agree with Curious George as well.

the GTs I have are rather long and narrow (I'd say more like a C than a D). But if you live near a redwing store they will order the GTs for you for no shipping cost, and if they don't fit they will keep them. I don't believe they can order the 1900 series, but you can get the 9011-9014 which are the non horween leather versions, but should be the same size.

  2. when I soak my 47s, upon the initial soak I wear them in the tub for about 25mins. then i let them air dry on me. This prevents the shrinkage going too far. but after that initial soak i usually wash or resoak in cold water and let air dry on a hanger. Perhaps I've just got them stretched out a lot. how is it you're going about it paul? I'm just curious.

  3. I wouldn't go for a 31x38, first off you wont find a 31 and it would probably end up too tight. a 32x38 would be fine, but I dont know where you can get that. if your actual inseam is 36 you might be stuck with a 34x38.

  4. I have 2 pairs of 1947s, both of which are tagged as 34 waists. One has been washed several times and measures 34.5" and another that has been soaked once that measures 34.5". I personally ignore the levis recommendation and buy true to size. the shrinkage will be minimal in the waist and will probably stretch out to the tagged size (or larger). For unsanforized denim you need to pay attention to the inseam. Your jeans will be 3-4 inches shorter after they have been washed 10 times. But that can also be controlled by the temperature of water you use when washing. I only use cold to slightly warm water when washing. hope this helps.

  5. I would say get a 32 and wear them til they're dry. If you're a 31, I'm pretty sure a 34 is going to be enormous, since that is the same size I wear and i'm a 33. If you try them on and you are concerned about them shrinking too much, just wear them in the bath or wear them till dry. I think the majority consensus is to go up one in the waist to accommodate for undersizing.

  6. to outsource the LVC line is such a terribly bad Idea. i really hope that guy was wrong (It really seems that he IS wrong since the EU LVCs are made in usa). one of the coolest things about LVC is the fact that it is made in the US, just like it should be.

cool exhibition though, I would have loved to have seen that stuff. thanks for the information.

  7. do not dry them

it doesn't take that long for them to air dry.

using a dryer will make your jeans softer and they wont hold creases and such. plus it will turn your dryer blue. you also miss the fun of watching your jeans dry.

  8. hello everyone.

i finally got my alden 405s 11C in. when i got them they seemed to fit, so i decided that i would keep them. now i'm noticing that maybe i should have gone one size wider. i'm having some pain in the ball of my right foot (the left foot feels fine) after walking around for a while and my right big toe is a little tight in the toe box.

so, am I screwed? is the pain i'm experiencing just the soles breaking in? will the shoes stretch? will i be able to have the shoe stretched to fit my big toe? any input would be greatly appreciated.

  9. i am a 33/32 or 32/32. I have an LVC 47 in 34/34, and one in 34/36. i got a 36 the second time because i wanted to be able to cuff them. my advise is, if you can, try them on and find a waist size that fits you. they do run about one size small (which is why i need a 34.) if you cant try them on, i would go 1 size up from your waist size for a trimmer fit, and 2 for a loose fit. dont forget 2-3 sizes up in your inseam. I dont think youre going to have any luck finding a 35.

  10. medium format color stuff from my friend's house in Baltimore where my band stayed on tour. this guy sings in Future Islands, they're pretty awesome.

I was really fascinated with the architecture/floor plan of the house they lived in. its a really cool old row house in downtown baltimore (the shady side).

  11. those are indeed the EGxLevis collab. There are quite a few details different from the normal 47's, such as: they're not STF and don't use contrast stitching. The red at the hem is an Engineered Garments detail.

you'd think that levi's would want to advertise those jeans as EGxLevis, rather than calling them LVC 47s.

  12. hello everyone,

i'm having a bit of a sizing dilemma regarding the Alden 405. I've been working with Bryan from Giesche shoes ( as suggested by a sufuer )and hes been a great help, but i'd like to hear what some of you guys have to say about this.

i wear an 11B in redwing 875, 10 in gentleman traveler, so i decided to order an 11B. later i was worried that i should be measured on a brannock device rather than the crazy contraption at the redwing store. so i was measured as an 10.5 C. So i called Bryan and told him. he didnt have a 10.5C but he had a 10.5 B. the wait for a 10.5 C is something like 12 weeks. so bryan sent me the 10 Bs just to try out. they were a little tight on my left big toe around the front left side area. Bryan hadn't canceled the 11B order, so I waited for those. I got those and the same problem again. So now i'm sending those back, and bryan suggested I order an 11 C, which we did. they should be here in 4 weeks. hopefully it will be the end of the ordeal. Anyone have any insight? suggestions?
