  1. remembering the arcs today as I came across this picture on my computer. They were a beauty but alas the pain they caused...Denim Icarus. 1696668634_tcb20s.thumb.jpg.d45ff18af9ab84a44e50405547a82c50.jpg

That Carhatt is nice. Looks like it has a corduroy collar? That is one detail I really like but usually only appear on a slightly different style of jackets called hunting jackets?  I prefer more standard pockets as well which I why I didn't wait for the upcoming OOE ecru coat when I found this EG one on Grailed

Yeah it does have a corduroy collar. I've heard them referred to as hunting and barn coats jackets barn coats. Carhartt refers to it as a chore coat - so thats what I've gone with. Thats a nice EG jacket. My worry with ecru pants and jackets is dirt. Do you have trouble keeping it reasonably clean looking?

  3. It depends on the coat and how you pull it off for sure. For me I usually steer clear.

With that said,  I've been eyeing non-denim chore coats but the denim ones always pull me back in. Currently I have a denim pointer and a canvas carhartt with the blanket lining. I really love the carhartt. Its great for NC winters and I think its a good look.  The pointer is nice but there are more interesting options out there. I really liked the TCB chore jacket - I think this is discontinued now. The new TCB version looks great but I don't know if I'm ready for the extra details - tilted pocket, whatever the arm / shoulder design is called...I like it but I'm not sure about it yet.

Has anyone been following whats going on with this Vidalia mills / white oak loom connection? It seems legit that they bought the looms from White Oak and are now producing fabric. Is there any hope that LVC will return to US production and US fabric? I'm interested to see the results from left field.

Edit: I just saw the posts in the cone closing thread. Maybe should have put this there - oh well. The fabric looks promising from the imogene + willie pics etc... They don't have the looms on a wooden floor of course.

My current favorite is the Utility Jacket by Engineered Garments. Picked one up after seeing Flash's pics and pretty much wore it everyday during fall/winter/spring Just bought the same jacket in a ecru-ish color from Grailed this week

I think your favorite brand OOE is releasing two coats soon? @aho

That’s a great coat. I love chore coats but must stay away from any that make me look like some sort of railroad worker.

  6. I’ve been washing mine whenever they’re lookin’ all stretched out and frumpy. Doesn’t take long. I do think it’s a good idea to go as long as possible at first.

  7. Man this really sucks. I haven’t seen the new LVC in person yet but Jeeze. It sounds bad. If I knew it was gonna be this bad I might have bought more.

I did get a 1955 in the big sell off of the musa stuff but now I’m kinda wishing I got a 1947. Who wants to trade?

  8. I wasn’t going to post any pictures cause I know I’m not in the running. I’ve had a bit of a love hate relationship with this pair. Mostly the back pocket size feels really weird and I can’t stop going back to my 50s and a pair of 517 orange tabs. I’ll see if I can take some though.

The ‘47 and ‘55 being replaced by studded bell bottoms and polyester and bootcut and then into the 80’s dad cuts with stonewash and a “scosh” more room.

I’m wearing a pair of vintage 517 orange tabs right now. I look pretty cool if you ask me.

  10. initial feelings after returning to LVC.

    1. It kinda makes a difference when the back pockets have the arcs and the tab says Levi's - even if the tab wont shrivel up and fray like on the TCB.

    2. much stronger taper on the LVC, rise is higher. Probably a more flattering silhouette.

    3. The fabric is awesome. Really drives home how much of a loss it is to be without cone mills.

    4. $285 is way too much for a pair of jeans. $170ish is just fine. Makes me wonder if they'd do better to sell them for the old $170 of yesteryear and just sell more jeans. Are there really enough suckers out there to pay the $285 full retail?

    5. I shoulda bought a 1947 too.

    6. The buttons still look bad. But I think thats an environmental regulatory issue though...if I remember correctly.

  11. Thanks everybody. The 50s are a size 31. They don't actually seem much smaller than my 32s though. I think they might be pretty old - so I dont know if there was a change in the pattern or what. I'll see how the two measure. My waist is a true 32 and these are a perfect fit at the waist. Could wear them without a belt but every time I've done that with Japanese jeans they get very badly stretched out.
