  1. ^^^They actually have been making that bud tee for awhile.

Odd that they would choose to put it out, along with a JD rip, this season.

I swear they all subscribe to the same trend forecaster.

  2. haha can you imagine someone asking for the changing room on a new season release day to try on a t-shirt?

this is a really weird claim, esp since most shrinkage happens during drying - not washing

I'm sure it would make the natives restless but fuck it.

The co-worker was saying to both wash and dry before wearing. I lump the drying into the "wash" process.

  3. I had a co-worker who said that if you put it in the wash before wearing for the first time, the shirt will shrink properly. Maybe try this with an XL. If no luck then it seems like tees may not be the way to go then, which isn't all bad to begin with.

  4. XL seems to always fit about the same, plus or minus a negligible amount. The only shirt I noticed being completely off was the last miles tees. Those were shorter than previous.

There doesnt seem to be a consistent opinion on sizing. One person says great, another says too big, the next it's too small.

If in doubt just try the shirt of interest on.

  5. i've always been meaning to go, but i've heard it's usually a NE frat-boy shitshow... will i be able to get food w/o waiting in line for 45 minutes?

Waits can be long, go early (I.E right at the start) and you're good. As far as the fratboy shit show, I dont let things like that bother me.

...If you've got 5+ ppl and send everyone out for diff items to divvy up the waiting it might not be so bad.

Half the ppl at this thing are not there to eat. They're there because "lol nyc bbq is such an ironically cultured event I gotta go take pics and then blog about it." .....

Going with a group makes it a lot easier and if you go with 5, the speed pass is $20 a person. I dont know about the people going for irony. With people living here from all over the country, I kinda felt like most people who were willing to suffer the wait and crowds, genuinely wanted to eat the food or get a taste of home.

The fest may be good, but comparing it to bbq from the south or west (or a bbq fest IN the south or west) is like comparing Old Navy jeans to Samurai denim.

Most of the vendors come from the south. If it was just the NY bbq places it would be the worst. This is not going to compare to living in the south or any other place that has good bbq. For a price, you're getting the oppertunity to have good bbq from people who know what they are doing. Again this comes at a price both monitarily and physically.

Also, while I know this is SUFU, the denim analogy is gay.

  6. huf is just schizo, 14 going on 40 or something like that

Not that I have ever met him, nor do I skate myself, but the brand seems to fall in line with his own public identity and the whole mentality of skating out west. 14 going on 40 is a pretty good way to describe that lifestyle, as many of the people involved are nicely in between those ages, owning companies and living a very endless summer style existence.

Not knocking this at all. I yearn to return to the promise land. Regrettably, Ms ms. sally, "needs to be in New York for work right now".

  7. It's just a bizarre call for them. It's getting people talking which is always good. All the items serve a summer time purpose, but still the questions just remains why?? WHY?

  8. apparently it was a long going thing between kyledqm and ricky about wanting to do a bud collabo from when they worked at huf. it also looks like supreme had to pony up beacoup dolores for licensing as well.

It would have made more sense for it to be done with either Huf or DQM. Both stores/brands portray a more fun loving, beer bloated image. Supreme can be too serious with their brand identity.

2009 , the year supreme jumped the shark.

Someone says this every year, no?

  9. They have a sale on Hamilton Harris. They put him out last week.

Buy 2 and get a free rasta cap. If you splurge and get every color they'll throw in Frank Natiello at 30% off.

  10. Maybe all the Chambray I've touched in the past has been doo doo, but Supreme's shirt feels to be on par fabric wise.

Is there something that is lacking in your comparison or is it just not pleasing in general?

  11. I've never met a well mannered, highly educated, bow tie wearing, enforcer for hire in real life but it seems to me to be no less probable then a gay, easily identifiable, bulletproof vest and shot gun wielding, stick up man not being got, caught up with the germ, or locked up for real years in a 5yr period. I mean the scene where he just gets the stash cause he was walking to get honey nut and some newps in his pajamas, while one of my favorites, wasnt believable even for his character. I think what works for Omar, works for Mauzone, the name and legend ring out so people respect/fear them. Prop Joe cautioning Cheese afterward about retaliation is evidence of this.

Cheese's character at that point was still seen as kind of young and underdeveloped. It was believable because of that. Another, more established character it would have been a different story. Once more, Cheese was selling in the Towers at that point and being from the Eastside, its believable that he or his crew would be less likely to try something given their location and that the shooter was claiming to work for Avon (who at that point still had control of the Towers as far as the streets were concerned).

The way they made Lamar out to be inept with the bungling of the magazines, made it seem plausible for him to be so quickly dispatched. I never really saw him as much of the muscle, more as his personal assistant if you will. Similarly, I felt the same way with the ease with which Brandon was snatched up from the store and tortured/murdered. While they made him out to be tough after the fact, everything leading up to that showed him as young and inexperienced when compared to Omar.

  12. ^^i always thought brother mauzone was a fucking ridiculously stupid and far-fetched character, but bunny colvin is fiercely underrated. prez and frank sabotka definitely hold down the "best white characters on the wire" list.

In an interview, David Simon was asked about the reaction (it was less than positive) from the Nation Of Islam to that character and his response was "we never said he was a member".

Following this logic, I really enjoyed the character. He was anti-typical of the entire Barksdale organization and it was clear that his presence came at a cost and was a matter of business. I always assumed that he was introduced through the connection in New York, but I like how it was never really clear. Also he was a major catalyst in Stringers betrayal to Avon.

He reminded me of Harvey Keitel's character in Pulp Fiction in the sense that he was this little guy who got shit done with style.

Also on another note, his crimey who was always fucking up the magazine order was played by the real DeAndre McCullough from The Corner

  13. ^^Not saying it isn't plausible, but there were other photographers out there taking pictures of black people in the 80's.

Plus, i kinda feel like it would have been mentioned. Even the ones he did with basqauit, subway, etc had his name on the shirt.

  14. B.e-n, we can agree that the ones with the "labelled flavors...added on top of that" do taste more like their added flavor and less like the almond base, no?

Jeepster, was conflicted on mentioning the coconut shavings. The first (and best) Jewish macaroons I had as a kid were sans coconut. Over passover I did however have some solid ones with coconut and a chocolate dipping.

  15. correct, while almond powder is still a main ingredient, the french macaroons have different flavors (I.E Lavender, Tangerine, Chocolate, Green Tea, etc). Search the thread and you will see people posting pics with flavor descriptions.

Jewish Macaroons, I have only had the basic almond or almond dipped in chocolate.

  16. ......

what the hells with people in here and their macaroons?

I felt the same until i had a french style macaroon. Prior to this i had only had what most would call a Jewish Macaroon:

While delish, they're not anything to get fanatical about (unless you're jewish I suppose)

    French Macaroons...

    jagos9.jpg

...are kinda whats up, given that there is a nice little layer of sweet cream or butter sitting in the middle. Also they have more flavor varieties then just Almond.

Bouchon Bakery in the Time Warner center makes some pretty good ones if you're up that way.
