  1. crotch really ain´t as strong, as i´d like it to be...due to cycling and sweating.

should i get it reinforced, now? (how?) or should i wear it till it blows some day and then repair it?

Prevention is better than cure. It will cost you less and it looks way less ugly. Take it in and get someone to handle it.

Nice jeans BTW. Tried to rep, but gotta spread.

  2. My experience with samurai denim is it shrinks at least 2". What am I missing here?

Wouldn't it depend on the denim though? I had 2 pairs with zero denim and both only shrunk 1 inch in the waste. But then they stretch back out too, you gotta keep that in mind.

  3. Oh, anyone know anywhere in the UK or Tokyo that could hem some sammies?

I'm going to get the 5000vxs today, but I need somewhere that could at least hem the jeans for me. Though soaking would be nice too.

You were in Americaya the other day right? Guessing that's where you picked them up? I would recommend soaking/washing before hemming as you will get some shrinkage.

Americaya does chain stitching (around 800 yen off hand)

Denim Dr does chain stitching (but it's 1600 yen!)

    Bears also does chain stitching

If you want single stitching, Americaya will do them for free if you take them back with the reciept.

  4. Boys, how was Yellow? Packed?

I've been a lot and am going tonight but not sure what time to turn up as I have a feeling I will have to line up after 11. What time did you guys get there and did you have to line?

I'm thinking it's going to be mad busy because of it's last night, but I also think the price tag has scared a lot of people off.

  5. Before I go to Tokyo.

One last question. I'll be going to Americaya (need to get directions actually) to get my Sammies, and since I'm going there in person, I may as well see if I can try on the raw jeans, if possible. Or at least see how they'd size on me.

Now, with either 710s or 5000vxs, how should they fit pre-soak/raw if I want a slim-ish fit?

I mean like, how do the stretched, post-soak measurements weigh up against the raw presoaked ones?

Speaking from personal experience, don't go to Americaya in Shibuya, not nearly as impressive as the one in Ueno. And there is a heap of other shit to see in Ueno as well. They have them raw and you can try on anything you like. Bears has them one wash, so even if you don't buy from there, you could see how they shrink and fit after a soak. It's another cool shop to visit, and the staff are awesome, so why not.

I have a 34 waste, so I got a 36 waste s5000vx because the shop attendant told me they would shrink 2 sizes. This was wrong. I sold them, got a 34, the shrunk a bit, maybe an inch, but they are easing up a lot after about a month. If you want slim/tight, size down. You can see pics of my fit a few pages back when wearing them true to size. They shrink a touch, but stretch out a lot. Like I said, my own personal experience, take from it what you will...

  6. For a full cycle? And do you normally wash the denim just by itself, or with other clothing?

I know Kiya would know much better than I would and I'm not questioning him at all, but personally I wouldn't be comfortable putting my denim in with any other clothes. Imagine all that shit that your jeans has taking in from not washing for 3, 6, 9 + months that's going to soak into the other clothes. And jeans normally bleed when dry, let alone wet.

I dunno, wouldn't wanna fuck any other clothes because I was too lazy to wash them seperately.

  7. I guess I am hesitant to hem as I HATE it when my pants are too short. Yours look good on the other thread. I probably just have to go for it...

Yeah I know what you mean, I was worried too until I got them back then I realised it was the best decission I made! I got them chopped at 1.5 cuffs and they sit beautiful now.

  8. Does anyone have recommendations for what to wear with larger hemmed jeans? I have some SC1947 and some Samurai S5000VX and I am having a hard time finding shoes that keep the jeans from falling below them (I hate walking on my pants, especialy expensive ones). I wear a pair of Redwings most of the time, and I have a pair of Vans chukka boots that work OK. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I got s5000vx's and I just got them hemmed. Best thing I ever did! I found they looked stupid with all my shoes, now they look great with any, slim leather dress shoes, Air Max's, Onitsuka Tigers, etc. Check out how they look in the Samurai thread.
