  1. My gear changed quite a bit over the summer, so here's a new pockey dump

    pdump2010.jpg

    Marathon watch

    Crank bros m5 tool

    WT titanium necker

    iphone

    headporter wallet

Keys with emerson lanyard thingy and atwood wrench

    Pilot mini ss pen

I'm thinking of copping a preon soon to complete this.. My EZAA sucks and I need something without knurling as it rips through my pockets

  2. ^^^...really?

Just the fact that people consider flashlights 'self-defense' weapons is making me laugh. :\

Granted, shining a very bright light in somebody's eyes might momentarily blind them, but will probably enrage them so that instead of just mugging you, they mug you and kick your ass.

    ain't no laughing matter, dude

  3. i could discuss this movie for days and im sure you all could too. the concept of inception and extraction, the dreamlike nature of the movie itself, the constant allusions to dante's inferno... lets analyze this shit

first order of business: were those raf x eastpak jawns in the snow level??

I honestly can't remember a single allusion, whether literal or figurative, to anything from the Commedia, let alone to the inferno only. Did you read the poem? I'd like to hear your views on it, could be interesting
  4. Nah they're 26mm only and were banned from competition like a week after they were produced.

I'm sure there's a warehouse full of old stock somewhere. It was also prior to the prevalent use of non-shitty aerobars. The early ones slipped like crazy.

Just repainted and rebuilt my first road bike into a polo bike. 80's tri bike. Light, lugged, flexy, black.

    Pics later.

There most likely is a warehouse full of old stock somewhere, seeing how cheap and widely available these are. I think they're a good deal, after all, you hardly ever see aerobars going for $15

  5. is that mash cinelli?
    Yes it is

Just got some Spinacis in the mail, I'll be giving them a try in the next few days. Anyone on here used them? They look like they could be fun

  6. I got questioned at the airport for carrying a baliyo in my carry-on, so god knows what kind of trouble you'll get yourself into if you try to smuggle a CF knife.

I even left my keys in my check-in cause I read quite a few people got their atwoods confiscated in airports.

  7. Finally finished my mash build, just need to upgrade the pedals eventually... Might get negged for the front wheel, but whatever, I like the look and I like to ride it so that's what matters to me

    DSC_0086.jpg

Still need to wrap the handlebar, although I'm riding with gloves usually so it's not a necessity for now

  8. No, but it is possible to easily damage some components w/o using one and a bolt is excessively tightened. It's best to know if you are using "superlight" parts or not.

I've seen more than a few lightweight bars damaged in the stem or brake lever clamp area from excess tightening. A seatclamp bolt shouldn't be that tight; only enough to hold. Stem bolts as well, and mixing stem and bar brands should be avoided if possible.

Thanks for the info, I think i'll just go ahead and buy one.. i'd rather buy a cheap tool than mess up pricey gear
  9. Would you guys say a torque wrench is a necessity on alu parts or is it really only for carbon?

I've never bothered with it but the guide that came with some new parts I bought mentions the warranty is void if something else than a torque wrench is used

  10. As of late,

Only things missing from pic is handpump, keys and wallet

  11. I will most likely be selling a 56cm creamroller frame soon including the stock headset, stem, drops and seatpost. If you are located in the montreal or toronto area and are interested, PM me or something.

  12. That one looks nice too fuuucck.

I definitely want a new knife to replace my poverty crkt but any Canadian online store is $$$ mode.

Someone sell me one of your old -3" folders merci.

Hey, I'm gonna be selling some knives soon. I'm traveling around at the moment, but as soon as I'm back home next weekend I'll post something here. There should be stuff from Spyderco, SOG and Emerson, most of them NIB
  13. Any of you guys have experience using 25,4mm handlebars on a 26mm stem? Do they sell some sort of adapters for that? Or is it an absolute no-no?

I'd like to try some bullhorns for a while instead of my drops, but the only black ones my bike shop has are 25,4mm..

  14. Hey guys, for the passaround up to now I got:

    35 percent

    XXXL

    showbiz

    riff

    anybody else?

There shouldn't be any problems with the law, the blade is less than 3 inch, and it's a fixed blade so no worry with locking mechanism legal issues. I guess if it's shipped internationally, just label it as "camping tool", not knife.

Cool thing is, the back of the blade is raw, so maybe we could try to all carve our initials/nickname/whatever in it to show who handled it. Also, there's no sheath, the paracord is kinda sloppy, etc, so if it falls in talented hands, feel free to pimp it a little ;)

  15. Hey guys, I know someone (35percent?) mentioned a "knife pass-around" recently, and I thought it was a neat idea. What happened is, I've ordered some stuff from Snody a couple weeks ago and he sent me the wrong blade, but said I could keep it as a gift

What he sent me was one of the bailout shank, and since I got it for free, I thought it would be a nice way to "share" my luck as well as give back to this thread. If anybody's interested, just lemme know in here :)

Here's a pic with a messy paracord wrap

  16. Wow, some of you guys need to put down the hatorade. Beside, who drew the line between a wallet fade being cool and a cellphone fade being a fashion faux-pas? Sure the multiple fades on the dude's fit might not be very aesthetically pleasing, but everybody ganging on him for that is just ridiculous

I always thought the point of raw denim was getting a more natural, authentic fade on the jeans. If you're going to be a little bitch about it and start putting your cellphone in an empty bag or hand-fold your starched honeycombs, you might as well go buy some pre-distressed true religions

  17. You have to watch his dedicated forums on bladeforum or USN, he has sales reminiscent of Atwood's every now and then. His "build-your-own-shank" are usually the best value.

Awesome bali btw, Brane. Blades with a story like that are the best.

edit: damnit, must spread rep... I need to get out of this thread, I can't rep any of you guys anymore

  18. Have to agree with the others here, that colorway is really nice on the endura, Ken. Was it a sprint run?

I haven't made any update in this thread for quite a while, so here's a massive post with all my recent EDC-related purchases.

First, since I'll be getting back on my bike soon, I decided to get a backpack to replace my messenger for the coming months. I don't know much about non-designer bags, and few designers make backpacks/bike packs so I decided to go for a sure value and order a TAD gear lite pack. Got a morale patch too, to "customize" it a little

Got the sharpmaker as some of my knives are getting pretty dull. I tried it on my sog flash, it did an incredible job. Also tried it on a cheap chef knife that wasn't worth bringing to a specialist. It did help, but it was almost blunt from the beginning so I guess you can't do miracles. Great buy IMO

Paracord is from MAframe on Ebay, I'm no expert, but it's fine by my standards, and cheap

    DSC_0048.jpg

Next, I got the TAD gear shemagh. I liked the skull and crossbone pattern so I decided to cut the shemaghy parts off and only keep the centre to use as an handkerchief.

The twitch 2 is actually a gift for my friend who was beastin over my flash. I threw a Baliyo in the order too, I didn't have any pen and this one shall keep my hands busy when I'm bored at job.

The 530 was kind of an impulse buy... I never liked benchmade designs, but this one really caught my eye since it reminds me of an OTF knife. Great design, nice blade shape, super light and also has the infamous penis clip. All in all, I really like it, Axis is indeed awesome as most of you guys pointed out, and this will most likely become my main EDC blade.

And finally, the Snody shank is a blade I leave in my apartment for tasks that require a stronger knife. I'll soon try to press a kydex sheath to attach it to one of the backpack's strap, I'd like to bring this one when I go hiking.

    DSC_0053.jpg

So I guess that's it for now. I'm most likely going to sell some knives soon, as I don't want to build a crazy collection. I'll let you guys know first if I do :o

  19. oh no, i agree with you, the atwoods as tools are pretty good.. i just don't like how they become "collectibles" first and tools second. people buggin out over a titanium anodized shotglass or something cmon..
I'm with you on that one. That floor-full of atwoods picture someone posted a while ago was just ridiculous
  20. ^ lol except the cricket can't do what my leafstorm does, and i only paid $20 more for the leafstorm than i did the cricket, but that's beside the point i suppose. the leafstorm has better materials and engineering so thats where the cost comes from.

That was sort of my point, wasn't it? My SOG is just as good in everyday tasks as my Snody, but I'd still rather carry my Snody since it's handmade with better materials, has a nicer and more unique aesthetic, etc. It just feels like a nicer tool to me.

Just like a 1$ bottle opener is just as good as an Atwood when it comes down to opening a beer, but the Atwood is handmade, limited design, S30V steel, etc., so I'd rather carry it with me.
