  4. I've decided to part with my LVC 1922 201's tag size: 34x34

info & fit pics of this model can be found here:

    http://caliroots.blogspot.com/2007/08/levis-lvc-201-rigid-1920-edt-latest.html

Purchased first hand around 8 months ago, these are not currently offered by LVC no more. handwashed once, worn around the house only a couple times. The cotton and hardware are in mint condition. These are a great summer jean, and amongst my favorite LVC models, however they simply just don't fit despite tailoring ..

This pair has been hemmed and tapered at the Paris LVC store.

The tapering was done by a fold and a stitch inside the back from the ankle down, and therefore is NOT permanent, and could be set back to original measure if desired. The hem is chain stitched with colors true to original.

    Here are the measurements (BiG-style):

    waist: 34"

    f rise: 12.5"

    b rise: 16"

    upper thigh: 13.5"

    knee: 10"

    leg opening: 9" / 23cm ( 26cm originally)

    inseam: 31"

    2quiusl.jpg

inside out view of tapering ( stitching is invisible from exterior )

These come with a LVC cloth carrying bag.

I'm also throwing in free a pair of brand new button suspenders from legendary french workwear brand Le Laboureur. They are adjustable and perfectly fit the era of these jeans. They are beige, with brown leather and metal hardware. made in france!

  5. ^^^^ I got the stone chinos. They are indeed high waisted, which I like but they are not straight legged, they have a little taper. The RRL chinos I have are much straighter. I think the stone ones do a good job of getting that late WWII look down. I wore them the other day with a fairly high cuff, no see 'em socks and natural suede bucks, most 'summery' I've looked in a long time.

ok cool well like i said i only wore them for like 2 minutes and didn't even get a full glance in the mirror yet, but i have a good feeling about them..

  6. I cuff all my LVC's but different cuffs for different years, double cuffs on pre 30's, single cuffs on 40's 50's, single/double/triple on the 66's depending on the mood..

on a different subject, i finally received the mustard chino's from pablo (thanks again btw)! only had time to try them on for a few minutes, and boy was i in for a surprise.. from pablo's pics i was expecting a fairly relaxed chino type pants like the ones lvc have been issuing, or something along the lines of ww2 officer pants, but the surprise came from the rise, these are super high-waist with wide straight legs, i am going to assume in a similar fashion to the 20's balloon pants, probably situating these around that era. definitely a unique piece, quirky enough to explain why it was probably pulled from production! gotta admit i had trouble with the two last buttons and am going to have to shave off some beer belly pounds in order to make these work in a more comfortable way, but they are definitely keepers…

btw, who did the stone pair go to?

  7. I also own a pair of washed 501z's that didnt budge but the wash was simulating a 2 year wear, so no surprise there. But I was thinking here of the recently offered "light rinse" models and such, that potentially could still shrink a bit unless levi's somehow took care of the issue..

  8. interesting, i dont know why i was under the assumption that prewashed models were sanforized. doesnt using unsanforized denim make it extra hard to figure out sizing and care on those, as we don't really have a clue of the prewash temps or amounts, and therefore of how much shrinkage might be left in them? guess that's just an extra turn off towards washed lvc..

  9. i met the owner thomas a couple years ago, he was a huge hypebeast back then, even had a sneaker store for a bit here in paris, i was very surprised to find out in that video that he was behind BdP.. I will perhaps try and pay him a visit and get more info..

anyways, i agree their chambray and cotton items are nice quality, and i like the fact it's made in france, however I'm not at all sure about the denim. the brand is still very young, and obviously they don't have a big background in the domain, they are still trying to figure their identity I think and I don't know if manufacturing has reached full maturity yet, although they are collaborating with CdG which is always a good sign..

  10. not to restart the whole pantaloon debate, but i remember discussing them with the peeps from lvc store here when they first showed up, and basically it was concluded these were 19th century horse riding pants, which explains the shape.. apparently levi's ultimately ruled against their production back then since they were gearing towards the blue collar market ( well miners and railroad construction in those days ) which was on the opposite spectrum of a noble gentleman's horse riding attire, which would have been Jacob Davis's inspiration with these… of course that could be a load of bollox, but made sense to me..

  11. believe me i've been preying on the mailman everyday, i already regret not going for speedier delivery as i am off on a trip tonight… anyways those balloon pants are incredible, i've been drooling over those since the look book, so pissed lvc canned them but at least someone here got a pair, looking forward to fit pics as well..

  12. Some amazing SDs in the thread lately...

I'm in the market for a first pair but sizing and options are making my head explode! like whats the difference between the standard sole trim and the close trim?? also what's the deal with white's measuring instructions? you've got to send them by snail mail or fax it seems? i think i remember there being a fee for this, but there is no mention on their site. does baker's offer a similar service? what's the general consensus on sizing?

    btw, i'm a US8.5 in redwing, US9 in clark's dbs, US9.5 in vans/nikes, if thats any indication..

  13. well as mentioned, i promised pablo i'd be coming out of the woodworks and posting pics (also a feeble attempt @ rep gotta admit ) while i await the mustard chinos (thanks again to paul btw and sorry to those that missed them), but since there seems to be some interest on the 66, here is my story with them…

purchased TTS ( 33x34 ) , didn't take measurements but the inseam was definitely on the shorter side. initial 40mn bath soak ( 30°C). air dried in 20mn on a vespa ride. worn just about daily since.

overall they are a great versatile jean, i like to pair them with cons, polo & a G9 for that late 60's smart look, but they pretty much go with everything..

( oh and you gotta love those big square back pockets ! )

thanks to all who repd and got me on to greener pastures, stay tuned for more to come ;)

  14. actually you know the interesting thing, my collection comprises of (in order of personal wearability): 66's, 54's, 55's, 17's & 201 22's. strangely enough though, my favorite piece is probably those 201 22's, it is the hardest to pull off, but the most interesting silhouette as well. and yes i understand how silly therefore altering those pairs seems, but it would really just be bringing in the waist an inch and perhaps tapering the hems an inch, in order to include the 201's in my rotation, as i must admit i have never yet even worn them outside the house! so it's kind of a love/hate thing at the moment, and i definitely won't alter them until i find a proper chain stitch denim tailor anyways.. but yea ideally i will just leave them alone and find a way to make them work (still looking for the right pair of braces as well btw)

  15. web.jpg?ver=13043148740001

These are easily 3 sizes too small in the waist. Its a lot of work to get those 31s to a 34.

on the other hand, you get a great straight/relaxed fit instead of the humongous bagginess of my oversized 201's (i'm even considering alterations at this point).

speaking of linen labels, anyone have a tip to effectively clean the label itself, mine has a annoying blue hue from it's first hot soak

  16. tag size 34x34, shrunk about an inch a half but let's just say ive still got a little more sag then i'd like..

love the 201 model though, the high waist, narrow top block and straight wide legs really gives a nice elegant retro silhouette, especially tucked in, quite a different look from similar time period 501's ( ive also got 1917's ) footwear is much harder to coordinate though because of the wide hem, strictly work boot friendly i'm afraid!

  17. Yup nice fit Max..

I also have a pair of 20's 201 that happen to be a size too big, making these hard to pull off jeans even harder to work... i've done two 40° hot soaks, but I am now considering a 90° wash, although i've never dared washing my lvc above 60, but yours look fine so i think i might go ahead with it..
