^ i agree... even the selvedge denim line seems to already been axed
all lux brands seem to be like that though, even balmain which was one of the last french houses to have everything made in france/japan now has stuff made in tunisia.. of course the prices remain the same which is the gutting part

none of the runway boots are in store in paris.. the sale was also a major let-down.. tiny selection with no jeans, footwear or outerwear

here in paris about a quarter of fw13 is now available at all locations

^ that is definitely the coolest item ... just when i thought hedi had no sense of humor

the new paris flagship on avenue montaigne has part of the collection on view and you can pre-order there today.. but yea they're expecting stock in june like everywhere else..

actually the funny thing with daft punk is nobody (outside of fans) knows what they look like without the masks.. the SLP staff were completely oblivious to who they had in the store and i'm pretty sure they (DP) get a kick out of that. of course they can get mad stuff for free, and they do, but they're also filthy rich so paying for a few items is really just pocket change to them.. besides Guy-Man was with his brother and Thomas his gf.. fwiw they really seemed to genuinely appreciate the clothing, saying things like "look at this.. it's really cool" and trying stuff on etc...
i did ask about the tan suede boots since they weren't tagged but the retarded SA said she didn't know the price and was going to check... but never reverted back.. i would guess 700-800 euros but you never know with their crazy pricing policy :/
edit: suede boots are 790€ black chain boots 900€
..and i made a mistake on the embroided cloak: http://instagram.com/p/ZfTZkxnY4G/

Once again don't see how this is relevant to the discussion. It is self-evident that someone, somewhere think it will sell cause, hey, the company produced it. It doesn't tell us if it is good, hell sales themselves don't tell us if it is good design.
Pilati and YSL's management brought YSL back from the red to making profits, took him a few yrs but the primary work has been done. Hedi Slimane is indeed a big name and he is gathering attention and this is partly why we are talking about him: his output is very feeble compared to his reputation and past collections.
You seem to forget Slimane started at YSL in 96 and was there till 2001 when he left to start Dior Homme where he had carte blanche. There is simply no way Hedi was going to come out of retirement and go back to YSL without having the same kind of creative freedom he had at DH. besides Pilati & Slimane are polar opposites background & design wise. it's also already been explained the SLP concept is a reboot to the early spirit of YSL, which was more about rebellious youth & androginity rather then dressing rich housewives which is sort of what YSL had become.. That doesn't mean i'm giving Hedi a free pass.. the whole LA thing is getting a bit cliché.. i mean i like biker wear & vintage clothing but at the going prices i'm expecting a little more forward thinking approach.. still a few pieces i might cop when sales hit..

FW13 is on preview at the new SL flagship avenue montaigne.. honestly nothing really stood out outside the leather items.. duffles, plaid shirts & even varsity all looked like enhanced goodwill.. and yes the prices are cray.. the sequined cape was tagged 100K which i thought was a misprint but might actually be it lol... oh yea daft punk were shopping there right beside me.. i guess they can afford it!!

looks like the varsity will have few different colorways..
but i can't help feel hedi's iteration is a bit too literal..
( ^ random vintage varsity that'll probably run you $120 on ebay)

^ yes i'd definitely size up... i'm a 46/48 in DH jackets and a 50 looked tiny on me but again the cropped fit doesn't work for me but seems to please others, best is to try it on yourself..

i agree SLP is even slimmer then DH, especially the outerwear.. totally unforgiving with hardly room for any layering. i also find the jackets are cropped extremely short... i'm hoping FW will be roomier and that the denim line will have regular waist (those back pockets sag badly imo) but quality wise i find it's rather top notch even if the thin fabric does feel delicate..

^ if you're talking about the may private sale in paris then i was just told it'll be old pre-slimane ysl stock

anyone know if the regular waist cut jeans will appear next season (it was online during pre-SS13 then taken down & never made it to the shops) ?? i'm not a fan of low cut... also noticed all the selvedge denim is sold out at paris locations..

i find those kind of obnoxious unless you're a rockstar parading on red carpets but that's just me.. i'm also not a big fan of the shiny leather used on some of the footwear of this collection.. i think FW will have some very dope boots though

peeps have to realize SLP isn't DH despite the many similarities... SLP has a stronger retro influence, notably 50s/60s rockabilly/biker & 70s/80s mod/punk references, while DH was more forward-thinking. this applies to the SLP denim as well, which although may seem more basic without the darts and hidden button.. is actually more authentic to denim heritage and as mentioned above less gimmicky as well imo..

very on point review.. i also noticed the stack imprints after trying the slims on and was like whoa..
as far as hype is concerned i agree also, i've seen a couple fashionistas here in paris already rocking those wide brimmed hats lol

what were the differences between the 3 cuts?
straight: 19cm
slim: 17.5cm
skinny: 16cm

i remember when 19cm was considered skinny back in DH days.. now that's probably a baggy fit in hedi-land lol..
15.5cm is kinda crazy though imo, not sure it's very healthy for your body parts?!
