  1. That's the weirdest wear I've seen. I don't think it's a "use" problem since wearing a pair of jeans is a no brainer: put it around your waist and buckle.

I have a pair of Nudie BB and though I've often heard others refer to them as diaper ass, they're not so for me.

Pardon the vulgarity, but how much ass have you got to work with? Is it something about your body? A 'bottom light' body with a pair of nudies might be the problem.

The first pic in particular looks especially awkward, the middle pic not so bad.

  2. The thing is that the Thai fakes are better than the real deal. You've basically got an APC Rescue fitting jean with a slightly lower rise and a waist that doesn't stretch all that much, certainly not to the extent that the APC's do (though not all Thai fakes are the same cut).

I'v got four pairs all dry, five if I include my second hand ones, all bought from Thailand.

The manufacturers of these jeans (Chadra, to name but one) would be well advised to cut out the Levis faking and just sell them rebranded as Thai dry selvage denim. I'd gladly pay 100 bucks for them.

  3. One surefire sign of a Thai fake is extra selvage on beltloops, or visible selvage on the coin pocket.

You're right about that. But some fakes don't have the belt loop and coin pocket selvage. I've got a pair.

  4. thanks for the replies. and yes, they are nudies.

and what is this SAS you speak of lol

    SAS = sweaty ass syndrome.

Seriously. Nothing burns up the crotch of your jeans like sweat from the groin region making the denim wetter, heavier and all around more abrasive. Couple that with the wetness of the underpants also causing friction on the denim and you've got a recipe for disaster.

I might be talking shit here, but it seems reasonable enough to assume this.

  5. Looks like you suffer from SAS.

I'm right there with ya. Buy new jeans, take two shots of BOTOX on either side of the inner thighs just below the scrotum, and watch as your new jeans develop great wear with minimal crotch rippage.

  6. Try contextclothing. They are the ones who carry the ALD's and, judging by their gallery, have experience washing them. Cultizm and Volls also carry them. I'm sure they must know something about washing and shrinkage. Mind you, they are retailers so not sure about how helpful they're willing to be to someone who isn't intending to buy.

Mynudies.com has a few ALD fanatics, if I remember correctly.

  7. Thanks Handinglove. Actually, I'm already back from BKK and did in fact find the stores in MBK, including Tanner. Not much there in terms of bigger sizing though. Also there were other stores in MBK not selling some LVC for 11000 to 18000 baht (350 to 600 USD).

  8. Hi -

Does anyone know if its possible to 'pre-order' some thai fakes from Thailand?

I want some of the vintage effect ones in a true size 36 x 36.

(Before anyone says I should buy vintage, I can never find my size.)

Also, office job does not allow me to break in jeans anymore so would like some pre- authentically faded ones worn by a rice farmer or coconut picker or something.

let me know if you've got any contacts!

I just picked up four pairs of raw fakes from Jatujak market (2 with coin and back loop selvage and brown leather patch, one with only leg selvage and a cardboard patch, and one with black patch and coin and belt loop selvage).

I went to 4 different stalls, two of which were suppliers and I never saw a 36 inseam. The highest inseam I saw was a 32 or 34, both of which fit like a 31-32. For a longer insean there was the 40-32 with an inseam more like a 34 but a waist more like a 44.

At any rate, despite my fakes being a bit short but not bad, these are the best jeans I've ever bought. And I have Nudies and APC's.

All the stalls gave me business cards and I wish I had kept them but I didn't since I'll probably be going back soon.

  9. Miles,

When I talk about compromising look or structure, I'm mainly refering to all the mini holes that will be left in place of the removed pocket stitchings. Is it unreasonable to assume that the jean might be more susceptible to tear in those places or visible perforations? I don't know, hence the questions.

I don't claim jeans jeans to any more part of history than anything else. But I don't see how asking questions about altering a 260 dollar item makes one revere the history of jeans. I think there are alot of other people who do that. After all, if there weren't, this forum wouldn't exist.

  10. flaps on back pockets are becoming hot. i say go for it.

Can't quite get into them. 3 reasons:

    1. I'm a bit of a minimalist; don't like clutter

    2. They never seem to stay down. After wear they're always creasing up.

    3. Guilt by association: they remind me too much of that True Religion Joey (or whatever) jean.

Well, I'm still undecided. But if I do buy them I'll definitely not take the pockets off.

    Thanks

  11. While hemming is a fit issue not the same.
    Dogfarm

You're also right about the tailoring and length also being fit issues. I just normally think of them as aesthetic ones.

Yea, I always see hemming to be more about aesthetics, not function. Afterall, you could always roll them up. Conversely, what is the function behind back pocket flaps? Presumably to hold things in. Personally, though, things never fall out from my back pockets anyways.

  12. Hey Marcus,

I see you have got a 38 waist in the Fronteir pant. If you don't mind could you pass over some measurements:

Upper thigh: measured straight across one leg just below the crotch.

front rise: crotch seam to the top of the waist band

    Thanks

  13. I'm considering buying the Atelier La Durance Fronteir pant 14oz. Everything about the jean combined with its notoriously generous size and some of the good pictures taken on SuFu have me willing to drop the 250 or up price on them.

There's just one problem: they've got those button down flaps on the two back pockets and I dont really like jeans with flaps on rear pockets.

Question: can they be professionally removed? If so, will it compromise the structure or look?

Or, is it simply a stupid idea to play around with a jean that way?

By the way, I'm aware that the Prescot has no flap pockets, but I don't think it will fit me like the Fronteir.

  14. I think it's a superb idea. Not too particular about the denim, looks all the same to me. Price is reasonable.

Can we maybe propose two groups where one is allowed a general consensus of relaxed fit, leaving the other free to pursue the popular slim fit?

  15. Can anyone out there with a Baggy Bjorn 36 waist tell me what the thigh measures on these (straight across one leg just below the crotch)?

I've got three different online stores giving me three different measurements for the same sized Bjorn ranging from 10 to 13 to 14.5 inches (all presumably measuring in the same place). This is why I hate online shopping.

  16. A pair of BIG STAR (here's a name that never gets dropped) that my cousin wore down beautifully and then donated to me. Like butter... That was, I think, 16 years ago.

I always thought that these jeans were the shit. Because back then they cost 130 bucks, alot for jeans back then. Never heard from BIG STAR again...

  17. Personally, I think they look terrible on you. Nice jeans but they don't fit your build. You've got a good build and legs proportional to your upper body. But these jeans are not doing any justice to your physique.

For my part, I have maybe 29 inch thighs and just ordered a pair of 36 APC Rescues. I'm beginning to realize that I may have made a huge mistake. I don't think they will fit me in the thighs.

p.s. Those jeans will never stretch and doing squats in them is going to burst the seam running between the crotch and ass before they give even a cm in the thighs.

  18. I think Levis Premium have some great washes, like the hesher and skinner.

I myself have a pair of 3 year old heshers. They looked great when I first bought them but with time they have come to look amazing.

I can actually put the 1 year fade of my heshers against alot of the raw denim that gets pictured around here. Of course, for the money I spent on them they better look good.

  19. Personally, I don't think they are bad enough to be included in that list.

On the other hand, something about them doesn't jive with me either. But something does. I think the buckle on the back is brilliant.

I've tried this jean on and the fit is second to none.

I post this pic because I never see any Levis engineered on this forum, even though some of them are quite nice.
