  1. Never been worn... never. No rips or stains or creasing or wear of any sort. These jeans are solidly built. The fades will be amazing. I'm selling these because I simply have too many and at the rate I'm going they'll never get worn.

    Actual measurements (BiG style):

    waist--37"

    inseam--31.5"

    upper thigh--14" (28" around)

    front rise--12"

    back rise--15"

    leg opening--9.5" (19" around)

    paypal $60 shipped

  2. I've used darkanimal's service for shipping form US to Canada. He's pretty fast and responds to PMs in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend him.

    Thanks, I'll look him up.

Out of curiosity, did he mark it as a gift for you, or was it marked true to value? If so, did you have any problems with customs, or should I even be concerned about customs?

  3. Looking to buy some stuff off of polo, jcrew, lgc, and 7forallmankind (yea, yea, I've got dry denim too so cut me some slack).

Polo won't ship international, neither will seven. Jcrew and lgc will but customs charges on the Canadian side scares me.

Anyone interested can pm me with the (negotiable, I hope) percentage they'd be looking for.

    Thanks

    ftw...

Seriously, though, given the variations in individual style and body type, there can be no universal holy grail. One "size" does not fit all, either metaphorically or literally.

I disagree with the fundamental concept of an ultimate anything. It implies a uniform aesthetic that does not exist.

It also implies that there is end to desire, unless "ultimate" is understood to be ephemeral.

Continuing along the Lacanian/Derridean tangent tangerine applied so well wouldn't the grail of jeans be not only what we want, or could never have, or have, BUT also what we HAD? A jean we had in the past that could never be retreived. Not only because it's not made anymore but also because the way we experienced it long ago may or may not match our memory of it, or the particular way we fantasize about it. Our recollections may be true, or may not so that the memory of the jean is built upon half fact half myth.

I don't pretend to know alot about jeans, certainly nothing near what others here know but I'm going to go out on a limb (the non-raw limb) and say that my grail jean (considering what I wrote above) is/was a Big Star jean given to me long ago, and long since thrown away. The MEMORY I have of that jean (the feal of the denim, it's softness and fade) may or may not be true (I can't remember and never will). So, I'm left to my memories and mythologies because I'll never be able to retreive that jean.

In fact, if I were able to retreive it so that it was in my hands now I'd probably deem it a peice of crap.

So the grail would be nothing more than a mythologized memory, though still deeply personal.

  5. Man, I've thought soooooo hard about doing that, but I couldn't justify the mark-up.

Business is business. As long as they know the difference between buying through Jatujak directly or buying through you, who cares. They make the decision to pay the mark-up. Besides people, including us, are paying mark-ups all the time, those adidas, levis, samurais, all hugely marked up. But at least on this forum people know how much they are marked-up by. That's ethical.

Variables about the type of Thai fake/repro have to be considered too.

That's true. Not all Thai repros are alike, I've got four (unused) pairs myself, all different in certain ways. You'd have to document the different cuts (repros can be slim or almost bootcut at the hem and tighter or wider at the thighs), heaviness of the denim, and color (some of mine are a deep blue, others are a deep blue/grey and heavier).

In 5 months I'll be in Thailand for at least a month to 6 months max. You should consider a business partner;)

  6. So was there ever any sort of group buy on these? Or was that the other thread? I'm still very interested in a raw pair. It would be my big F U to Levi's.

There used to be some guy on here or SF who was selling them. But if I remember correctly he was charging alot more than what he would have been getting them for in bulk there--like $60 or $70 a pop when he was probably buying them for $9 a pair. Good business move. One that I would seriously consider engaging in if I were an expat in Bangkok.

these backpockets and the waxed look on the traintracks are the dead giveaways. But I think it's easy to tell a Thai-fake just by looking at the fade...

Also, the seller and price is a giveaway. Osakavintage has sold alot of 'Levis' with coin pocket and beltloop selvage in the past and all starting at $49.

These here are probably the same ones that I've got with cardboard patch, no beltloop or visible coin pocket selvage but with inside coin pocket selvage.

It's good to know they'll fade like that.

  8. I think the real lack of leg twist disqualifies those jeans. I think thai fakes are not stf.

You're right, they are not stf. Which is why so many of them don't come in anything longer than a 32-34 inseam and why used, washed ones measure out the same as new ones.

I also notice that they don't stretch out so much at the waist. My APC's are madness at the waist right now: I look like one of those before and after weight watchers ads where the person who's lost 20 pounds is wearing an old pair of pants and is pulling out the waist to show how much they've lost.

Man, I'm really trurned off of APC's. Love the color and feel of the denim but can't stand this waistband stretch. The Thai's, in contrast, are nothing short of lovely.

  9. Also saw the Atelier La Durance at Central World at Manga, on the first floor. Very surprising to see them there.

Yes, that's right, it was Manga not Zen.

When I went to Tanner... in MBK the prices quoted were about what Largo mentioned. Not the best service though. The young guy at the counter seemed pretty lukewarm about me dragging him away from his i-pod for a few questions.

Definitely not like Jatujak where a guy runs the entire length of the market and back just to get you a pair you'll like.

  10. At the big lifestyle shop (Zen, I beleive) in Central World they also have Atelier La Durance, a rare find by most countries' standards, so a one up for Bangkok boutiques.

Also the Lee store in Central World were carrying up to 34 waist raw hair on hide.

Unfortunately the ADL were too small and the Lee's I didn't like.

  11. Yeah, I'm headed back with all those extra length jeans I have! Shoot us a PM when you're coming into town, we'll have a meet-up!

As for Thai Levis I could only get my hands on 32 inseams at Jatujak. Do you know of Thai levis coming in anything longer?
