  1. for those of you not quite understanding the sale, email us, and say how much discount you deserve and why. for instance, " i would like a 50% discount because i am a blueberry farmer" elaboration will help get the deals

  2. Are the jackets in the above picture available for sale? I see that on the website you can order jeans, there was no information about jackets or other items.

most of are tops are made custom to order. the ones in the pictures are for sale but they are 1 of 1s and so we didn't think it was worth it to advertise them on the site. they start at 250 and go up. pm me if interested in more info, or email [email protected]

  3. just because the thread has bad pictures and there are haters doesn't mean it needs to be deleated. look at the evo of denim thread, the first picture sucks, but its a great thread. I don't know much about this brand but i appreciate superdenim as a catalog of artisan jeansmakers. if someone isn't interested in it they dont need to read it, but leave a place for people to share their experiences with the jeans.

  4. I know we all like to rip on the common person that would rather buy 10 pairs of cheap boots than 1 pair of nice boots, but lets not kid ourselves. We all end up buying 10 pairs of nice boots. 9 of which will sit in the closet anyway, never to be used for their intended purpose.

Not pointing fingers as I am part of this problem as well.

but at least when we die the youths at the thriftshops will be living the dream and coping 60 year old deadsdtock repros of shoes from 150 years before for $2.99

  5. Then I got the bright idea of taking the heavy fabric downturn hemmer attachment from a Union Special 63900 (part no. 23564L to be exact) and rigging it to a tubular arm US chainstitcher like a 33500. Good idea? No... about >$1K later and I've got an unusable machine, all sorts of parts (don't try to convert a single thread chainstitch into a double thread chainstitch/ double lock stitch with no mechanical or engineering experience.

i thought the 33500 was a double thread chainstitch to begin with, and why didn't the attachment work?

  7. Does anyone have any links to information about the properties of the woven denim that are suitable for jeans?

I am planning an ambitious project to dye and weave my own indigo cotton to make the fabric from which to cut a pattern for jeans.

I'm just starting the research now but I thought I'd ask here first some this forum is full of useful people and information.

Any information will be helpful. I'll be sure to post photos once the project gets underway. Thanks!

edit: found the answers to my questions - I'm in contact with Cone Denim and they have been tremendously helpful in my research. I plan on purchasing the cotton and weaving some samples within the next month. Indigo dyeing to come in early April.

thats awesome!!what type of loom will you be using?

  8. Damn, all these expensive engineer boots kind of erks me. I think the styling and reproduction vibe is great, but give me break, $1000 for engineer boots? I think the cats that wore these originally are spinning in their graves or laughing at us for dropping so much loot on boots that they didn't spend more than $20 back in the day.

$20 dollars back in the day compares pretty fairly to a 1000 price tag today. cats made couple dollars a week

  9. good to have a jean maker's input. Beautiful Freak actually said this construction detail is a repro thing.

im sure it was more of a WWII or post WWII detail, im not sure, but i bet you would not see it on a 20's or 30's levis. WWII really was an accelerator for mass manufacturing and streamlined production sacrifices details. the 80s began in the 50s
