^^^^Awesome pics viv. Mahalos!
I think the 868 is the slubbiest of the 3 jeans represented in your pics.
yeah, those 868's have me drooling! the more slubs&rougish warp threads, the better!!

my RHT sammies started to twist right after the first soak, and i hated it @ first, but im anal about symetry, until i realized it was an affect from non-sanforizing, and just a part of the wabi-sabi of non-pre-shrunk cotton. if you want shrink-to-fit, its something you will inevitably have to deal with. embrace it!

which leads me to this: why are we in love with leg twist? this is not a rhetorical question; i am interested, why do we all like the leg twist?
we love it because its how it should be. being a textile designer doesnt make you a denim lover. the first word dudes girl used was "modern". enough said. to me, sanforized denim isnt really raw, since they already took some of the fun out of it.

peg-rolling is the shit, if done properly, but i just havent found the right occasion. i prefer the ol' one fold cuff, like shirasu jiro, with the fat hem fold. i had yuji @BIG make my hems fat on purpose. one day i started to hate the folsom cuffed style i was rocking for years. pin-rolling is not for everyone, and not for all cuts of denim!

from personal experience, oni denim is the slubbiest denim ive ever laid eyes or hands on. the limited edition 190z. are to me nothing but slubs. these are my fantasy fetish pair for right now. as soon as i get the funds...

i loved these when i tried them on at big. lovely jeans
ive really been pondering these for a while now... the details are a lot different than on most sams, so i could switch up when they become somewhat of a trend. but in virginia, that probably will never happen. plus, no one notices me.

Here is another pair that has some fun with Levi's.
Levi only has the trademark for any red tab fabric sewn into a seam. It is not limited to the back pocket, but includes any seam anywhere on the jeans.
It is perfectly fine to put some red paint on jeans.
HA!!! this is most def iller than a fabric tab, plus it'll fade away...better than that ostentatious diacock.

here is a sweater from next season that has another take on levi's two horses.
this sweatshirt is the only evisu product ive been actually willing to wear.... i hate the look of that big stupid tab, but i love the idea. TAKE THAT BEOTCH!!!!AND GIVE JAKE DAVIS HIS DUE!!!!!!

i cant see anyone who goes commando for months with unwashed jeans enjoying a steady diet of good head. im in richmond, where the filthiest sluts reside, and even they would highly consider slobbing those knobs. cleanliness is just a simple part of good old self-respect. im a purist to the core, but my denim is not more important than my genital health...and to let waste(called that for a reason) accumulate in my ass crack and under my sack for a fade isnt worth it...if a shorty wore the same jeans for a month, without washing, she would smell like "sanitation". this is just dumb...

true, but it seems that to the majority of esteemed denim purists, anything done other than "natural-wear" to increase the fade or "vintage-look" of denim is ""cheating"". if you are the kind of person who wears pre-aged/distressed denim, you wont care. real-recognize-real. starching clothing was, and is, generally regarded as normal by most people who publicly present themselves in more than their birthday-suits. lets be reasonable. but rubbing sandpaper on your ass, etc. is wack. if you are one of those "pre-wash" cats, just rep yours, and go drink something with a little rainbow umbrella in it. if not, keep it trill.

this is just sad. this just shows how ignorant the average consumer is. its dumb, because a person who knows nothing about selvege wont care, and ANYONE who knows selvage will either laugh until convulsions, or vomit. this shit is epicac for denimheads. ive actually seen an ad in XXL magazine for "Premium Ring-Spun" denim, with a fake selvege that had a "red-line", but the twill/serge line was the opposite rise direction from the actuall sample of cloth that it was obviously sewn onto after milling. dont forget....bush is still president. but these are even worse, because of the wack-ass orange stitching that tells the tale. i call it"SNITCH-STITCHING", cause it tells on itself. ignorance must be bliss, cause this makes my tummy hurt.

i would love to join the next contest, but from experience, i cant accept any denim that is less than 17oz. the lighter stuff, no matter how "heavy-weight" it is, just seems like bantamweight now. too flimsy. ive been wearing my 19oz. for a few months in VA, and although it was a little warm on a hot(83degrees or better)day, it was definately bearable. but of course, i used to live in Morrocco.

this is beyond! now i know where all of these crotch rips come from...tight, dirty jeans. i feel as though im reading the ambiguously gay jeans thread.

I bought this pair in HK and thought would use it for a "test pair" as I am new to the denim game. From the pics, can you tell if it is a decent pair of denim and how should I approach initially wearing them. Are these raw? dry? The selvege isnt bad on them.....
I have a pair of PBJ 003 that I am itching to get working on, but I am scared I might mess them up. They are 33'', I might have gone too big so I might need to do a warm water soak. So i decided just to purchase a cheap pair and mess with it.
Should I soak or not soak?
i dont understand. first, how do you mean, "mess-up"? you dont plan to soak them in bleach, do you? they are obviously raw selvage, so just wear them already. enjoy them, dammit! trust, depending on your lifestyle, they might turn out better than your "serious selvage"(pbj's), especially if you baby them as opposed to the cheapos.-salaami-

I'm not sure when the first run is going to be made, hopefully before the summer.
I got an e-mail from him this morning, he said in his wash testing there was zero shrinkage. After my soak I think the only thing I noticed was the waist shrunk one inch. The length and the leg opening seem to be the same.
My only change I think he should make is to make the inseam longer, right now the inseam is 33" which is perfect for me, but I think making it a 34" inseam for a size 32 would be better.
I'm wearing them right now, still a bit damp.
Here are some pics of the hardware that he's going to put on the jean, I tried scratching a button and it shows copper underneath. I think that with some wear the hardware should change color.
What do you guys think, X bartacking on the pockets, external rivets, or hidden rivets? I think he's leaning towards hidden rivets. I like external rivets or the X bartacks.
go with the hidden rivets. just like they used to be.

looks like youre on the way to an easy victory, agent 15. thats what the fuck im talking about!!!

i know what you mean. after wearing my 19oz. sammies, "heavyweight 14.5 oz. feels like pussypaper. i cant go under 17oz. anymore. i just doesnt feel right.

i agree, as much as the wear part. it seems to me that the "best wear=most wear". i would be inclined to wear a pair of onis or sams more because they are better overall. once i got some sams, my nudies are for wash days, which obviously arent that often. im a bit ocd, so if it doesnt have hidden rivets, or other throwback details, i cant rock em.

After
those are hot, they look natural as hell. very authentic fade.

tweedles is right. just find the best pair in terms of quality, and wear the shit outta 'em. jacob davis invented jeans primarily for function over form. the customer who kept ripping off the pockets had a better "fade" than we can imagine, and it was unintentional. lets stop being ocd about stupid shit, and get to the essence.

beatle, ive been checking your posts, and you seem to be a true head, so dont worry about the weight. after a while, my 510xx19oz2 do feel like some wool, or some fabric my gradmother had for some thick winter curtains. its f-ing awesome! im still going to wear them all summer!-salaami-p.s. props for the sammie T-shirt!

my friend, these arent some thin-assed,faggie jeans weve all been accustomed to, they're sams, you cant make 19oz selvage on a loom that avgs. 13 oz, and not expect inconsistencies, plus the ingenious craftsmen are known for their loose weave. my 510xx19oz.2 have many slubs, and as far as im concerned, the more the merrier. its real denim. enjoy...
