  1. glad to hear you're okay. same thing damn near happened to me just the other night. i can't stand crossing at bigger intersections anymore... you can wait on the crosswalk and walk/run your bike and go the full 9 yards and lots of drivers can still be completely unaware of pedestrian traffic, or just flat out screw up trying to beat red lights and end up cutting through your right of way.

  2. skull 5010xx 6x6 after 2.5 months, sorry if these appear a little on the dark side... join me luke........

these are 30x36 with one soak (by me not fabfour; they were bought/worn raw.) i am 6'2" 150 lbs with biker thighs. i sized down 0.5 from waist but around 2 from my hips which is where i wear them if any of that is important...

there really wasn't a whole lot of stretching with these! so don't size down TOO much or you may regret it...

  3. Did you measure your waist as per the instructions from FabFour? Or did you just order a 29 (30.5 waist) because that's what your other jeans are? What kinds of other dry denim do you take a size 29 in?

I am just about to order a pair in size 28 expecting a 29.3" waist. I measured as per the instructions from FabFour which is basically just around the top of the hip bone and I measure about 29". When I read posts like yours though I get a bit worried...

I've purchased 3 pairs of dry denim online so far and not one of them has fit correctly! I'm not having good luck!

take into consideration the size of your legs before choosing a size... getting a 28 instead of a 29 is going to be a very slim jean, be ready for that. i bought a size 30 in 5010xx because i measured around 31" where i wear them (on the hip) and the leg isn't too tight, but really slim. so if you have smaller thighs feel free to go for the 28. if you're on the fence after reading this you're probably better off with 29. the waist may be just a bit loose but it's nothing a belt won't fix, and you'll definitely have more room throughout the crotch/leg. but if you're planning on a roomier cut like 5507 then maybe sizing down to get a snug waist wouldn't be such a concern.

so are alot of people still having construction issues? any crazy blowouts lately?

nop no problems here... been wearing mine nearly every day all day for 2 1/2 months now, biking, hiking, etc. not a single broken thread. crotch is starting to look suspect, but that's hard biking for you.

  4. Jeans update:

The roping is beginning to look nice as well. I slipped a zippo in the coin pocket a la Ryu, and it's already a really defined fade.

sort of pointless to mention... but i just got a beautiful zippo that i wish i could keep in the coin pocket of most of my raw jeans... it just isn't convenient at all :-(

  5. Firs time posting in this thread...here are my Nudie Even Steven Masa. Worn for about 4 months, recently machine washed and dried.

Personally, I've never had any problems with crotch tears, etc, although my back pocket did blow out. If it weren't for the 660's right now I'd be wearing these everyday.

    Edit - No flash

those are turning out really nice. i remember hearing about nudie doing a cut with japanese selvage and was curious what they'd look like after some wear.

  7. i ran into a guy at an arcade/LAN place in south florida wearing evisus... and i'm thinking, japanese denim at a LAN center? has to be a nerd... but he left right as i got there so i didn't get to chat. no idea what evisus they were, maybe they were chinese and/or washed, but it's the first time i've seen someone else wearing upscale denim in person (i live in a social wasteland, nudie will be all the rage here in about 5 years...)

  8. I know alot of people are concerned with making sure they get the best wear possible when breaking in a pair of raw denim jeans, so I was wondering if anyone had a method to taking them off a night without causing reversing days worth of wear (talking about honeycombs etc)?

Is it cool to just slide them off like any other pair of jeans or should you take care when taking them off?

a good practice for taking off your jeans when the day's end comes about is to tug violently on the fly whilst unbuttoning. this has a double effect; it loosens the waistband to a softer state, and works wonders for your lap creasing. use a strong tug per button, and once fully unbuttoned, continue to give your fly another 10-15 tugs to work the crotch out a bit. this strengthens the denim and stitching due to the stress, and it's definitely an area that needs attention to prevent crotch rips.

for particularly slimmer jeans that prove difficult to "slide" off, simply start flapping them over your thighs in a jelly roll fashion, starting at the top of the waist. once you reach your honeycombs, stop! rolling your honeycombs has a tendency to flatten them out, and you definitely don't want that. instead, begin the jelly roll process upwards from the hem. again, once you reach the knee, stop.

now that you've got a yo-yo-looking denim creation on your knees, you can simply slide them off and store them in this position. when putting them back on, just do all of these steps in reverse -- pull donut up to the knee, unroll the hem and then the waist.

  9. what is the cheapest place to get skull 5010xx shipped to the USA...

Rakuten sites that dont' need proxies would be number 1 choice...

e-mail [email protected] to see if they can help you (this is skull.) last i remember most cuts are around 20000 yen? and shipping to the states will run around 20 bucks. so that's around $210-215ish

  10. Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably just size down one. I wear pretty much all my jeans really low and sag them a ton. I'm not going for a super slim fit, and don't mind a straight fit. I find that with a lot of my dry jeans, I either size down one or stay true to size, let them stretch, and wear them a bit loose.

sounds good for a loose fit, and they are kinda antifit anyhow to be worn lower on the hips, so you're set.
