  1. good to hear they're "upgrading" their stitching, but it's honestly not as big a deal as some people have made it out to be. as long as you are reasonable with the jeans to a point and wash when necessary, you hopefully won't have any serious stitching issues (at least nothing that can't be repaired by hand.)

surely this question has been asked before but i dont find no answers

which skull cut is +- similiar to the apc ns ?

    thx

yeah the 5010xx is closest, but not that similar. new standards have a higher rise and the stretching of the denim is much more lenient than the slimmer 5010xx. you won't want to buy the same size in 5010xx that you would in new standards; you'll want at LEAST one size larger, if not two.

  2. hey, sorry for another sizing question, but do most people sag their 5010s? i wear a size 31 dior 19cm and they've stretched out from 33 to a 35 on my hips... what size should i get for 5010 raw? how about the one wash? i know both are sanfordized so that means minimal shrinking right? only mostly shrinking on the length? thanks for the help!

the 5010xx look good sagged or worn on/above the hips, i guess it depends on your figure. the cut has been compared to dior 19cm, but you will want to size them different. i'd say for a similar fit, size up 2 from that (31 to 33.)

edit just read your post above... 33 raw sounds just right for you based on measurements... the thigh is still going to be slim like your diors though. here's a picture of my RUMP for reference. i sized down one from my waist and they are very slim.

  3. checking in with my "dumb bike made for little kids."

2006 DK signal, the little treasure that got me into flatland... and addicted to riding bikes in general. next two-wheel purchase will definitely be something more suitable for extended daily travel.

My Lindas after 9 months. I'm sad that there's a hole in the crotch already. I don't even ride my bike that often in these so I don't know how that happened. I guess I'll try to get it patched up.

did you use anything special in the washing process? the color on those is super vibrant, i like it a lot. i've been meaning to look into specialty soaps for this purpose.

  5. barney's is having a nice sale on some nudies right now, if you wear bigger sizes (like 32+) you should check it out. alas, try the this or that thread stickied at the top of this subforum for more help since this will be locked...

  6. Do One-Wash skulls really shrink noticeably after a hot soak? Right now I have a pair of 5010XX's that I think fit me fairly well, but I wouldn't mind them being a bit tighter. Would a hot soak and letting them dry off completely before wearing achieve that?

sorry bud, but you aren't going to get one wash to shrink much at all. that first wash that they've done before you bought them was likely in an industrial washer, and "99%" of the shrinking is already out of the way. don't worry though, they look good as is!!

  7. Before shinichi is inundated with requests perhaps he could comment on repair or providing thread?

i got in touch with shinichi recently about a repair kit for my skulls as well. i was sent everything needed for a small scale repair; a 3x3" swatch of thin denim and plenty of thread (#6 style for inseam and #20 style for everything else.) also here are pictures of my first repair from the evo thread... didn't notice this thread before... the denim patch used was from a pair of nudies. the denim provided by skull is on the thin side and seems more suitable for fixing up holes rather than reinforcing a particular area.

  8. crossposted from skull thread.

these are my contest skull 5010xx 6x6 at the end of month 3... worn almost every day. i'm planning on making monthly pictorial updates on them, i'll post them when the time comes! these were soaked once at 2 months or so to remove the permanent swampass from biking. they've been fading really fast since that soak, could just be coincidence though.

  10. This is something that worries me once the time comes for me to wash. I had my jeans hemmed and really regret it. How would you stretch out the inseam?

the gist of it is, you button the jeans and hold the waistband with a hand/support and use your other hand to pull at the hem, as if you were trying to pull the pant leg off while they are wet just after a soak or wash. i just do it by hand, but feel free to get creative. also keep in mind that it's pretty unlikely that you'll get it to stretch past its raw measurement (maybe an inch?) doing this is just to keep the inseam at a similar length to what it was prior to shrinking

  11. you guys shouldn't worry too much about shrinkage. keep in mind skulls are all sanforized and all of the shrinking is very minimal (they go back to their raw unstretched state if anything.) the inseam will shrink between 1 and 2 inches though, but can be stretched back out.

  12. Hi,

APC NS. Purchased on November 11, 2006.

Been wearing them for 1 year, no wash.

Any suggestions for washing them? I was thinking of doing a 3-4 hour warm water soak.

might i suggest detergent and a washing machine... if it's been a year then those need the tender love of a spin cycle... just turn them inside-out and pick up some mild bleach-free detergent, wash warm, hang dry.

  13. Yeah, I'm thinking about selling these for about 170 shipped, and picking up the 5507 one wash in a 30. I'm sure I can stretch it out enough so that it'll be a better and slimmer fit. I tried on the 5010 one wash in 30, and could only button the top button.

definitely do this... they will stretch most definitely, and if the hip/thigh area is snug when brand new, they'll be perfect within a month. agreed with jayrock and others that the 31 is just too big for you.

  14. Had lunch with the men of Skull a couple of days ago...

    Hiro - Me - Shinichi

hiro's wearing one of the new leather skull jackets, isn't he... damn that thing looks cooler than i thought it'd look. either that, or it's just cut to fit him perfectly. haha. thanks for the pic, i'm jealous you seem to be making your rounds around japan.
