  1. a few items to move along, i only do paypal (US $) but cover fees. i think the prices are pretty fair but feel free to shoot an offer if they hurt your feelings.  any questions let me know.  i have a pretty hectic day job so apologies if it takes a day or so to get back to you!

    Acronym DS-J5, size small

their famous schoeller dryskin soft shell jacket with a blazer vibe.  slightly used but none the worse for wear (no signs of abrasion or otherwise irreversible signs of wear, never washed / dry cleaned, doesn't stink, kept well and never worn under duress).  it's a classic but i've found it doesn't suit me for boring reasons so am offering it up.  comes with all extras (jacket sling, logo name tape, bag a4 info sheet, etc) as shown.  more product details here: http://acronym.de/product.php?id=523

    SOLD, sorry

  2. I'm thinking of doing a vinegar soak on my new LA4-BR to colour-set the dye. Has anyone tried doing this before? Apparently it stops the item from fading over time when it gets washed.

really? always thought cotton dye was set by positive pH, wool set by negative. perhaps it depends on the dye method though

  3. The difference in fees in not surprising. One piece is cotton (I assume), the other synthetic. The latter incurs a much higher tax. It's somewhat variable as sometimes the customs official will have to judge what rate to apply in case of confusion or mixed fabrics.

it's not variable, UPS charges an $8 brokerage fee on top of the customs fee.  the fabrication is declared in the customs manifest, you'll see that if you open the ten pages of customs declaration in the plastic envelope on the box!

but yeah, not sure why bodega's pricing is better.  cannot complain though, really.

  4. just spent a few minutes digging this up - thought a few more may benefit from sypron's approach!

    Try this;

    JMlgVz9.jpg

    Fold in half

    zE9Xuj2.jpg

    Tuck sleeves in

    tspGnbp.jpg

    Tuck hood in

    IHw5aX7.jpg

Fold the zipper edge and hem so they line up with the pocket

    MtiRLLp.jpg

Fold so it's the same width as the pocket

    QozTbD2.jpg

Fold everything else underneath, try to maintain an even distribution of material

    AEDuJFx.jpg

Fold inside out, and you're done!

Of course, this only work if you've got a flat surface. If you don't, you can try just stuffing it in bit by bit. I like doing it this way because it keeps the hard stuff (zippers, toggles) away from the stress points. Hopefully it will prevent me from accidentally piercing or damaging the material.

  5. finally warm enough to wear the SOC indigo chinos, so nice.

this put into mind somewhat randomly so I'll ask - does anybody know of an indigo dyed blazer worth having?  sorry to threadjack, i only mention this here because the regular contributors here know their stuff and selfedge would never stock such a thing in a jillion billion years.

  6. Here's my 220x's I've been wearing for a couple weeks. They're both SL and hemmed to the same length. What do ya think, still dumpy?

they have a nice selvedge ID, why not show them?

  7. yeah the vallejo's one of the better things from the season, but assumed it would make it to sale (i still think this may be the case).  in any case, there's no way i'm going to pay $120 for it, even though it's the kind of thing that will be worth money down the line

  8. good shout on this thread - i may have some stray memorabilia from 1998-2002 or so, which i will try to see if i can find.  i really wish i picked up one of those CDs they had at the shop when they launched their website

one thing worth remembering is who brought the plastic bag into the luxury rtw shopping experience:

sourced from http://thecrossfire.wordpress.com/2014/03/26/somewhat-of-a-personal-history-c-1997-2008-via-shopping-bags-part-one/ (which, full disclosure, i wrote in a fit of nostalgia for the old HL store where the slp greene st boutique now lives)

  9. really? i'd thought part of why they were such a big deal for nike was the minimal "zen" nature of the shoe; supposed to be an achievement from a design perspective—eliminating all the unnecessary frills. it kind of blew up into (locally at least) vans authentics level hype on merits of that.

yes, i suppose they're a good design from a "solving a problem" perspective but i dunno... sometimes good design isn't good design.

btw hell yeah on xi lows - lowtop bball shoes > hightop bball shoes for me in almost every instance.  court forces for instance

  10. the dead kennedys supreme thing is so deeply ironic

    is it supposed to be?

this is precisely the shit that makes me feel old

if you were actually old, you'd understand that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to put food on the table... and your options are shrinking with each breath you take

  11. man my shop page didnt even update until 11:03.

can someone hook me up with a restock bot or sumthing now rofl rofl

yeah there was a weird inventory thing going on - it kept going back to last week's.  shit got dumped out of my mobile cart because of it.

re: wearing a box logo tee - just remember, anybody who is impressed by it isn't worth impressing

  12. thanks all for your input.  my main focus is on being able to stumble out of the hotel to get awesome coffee and stumble home from bars i'd want to hang out in.  but yeah, quiet would be nice too.

daytime plans are up in the air, i'll hit a few shopping spots and catch up with people but may also leg it out of town for a day or two on a wine boondoggle...

clearly i have some research to do, will check in later

  13. heading out the pdx for the first time this summer... a friend swears by the jupiter hotel for its location, other than its borderline unbearable tacky decor, is that the right area to shoot for in terms of stumbling around late?  obligatory shopping expedition to selfedge notwithstanding

  14. The pieces I have are wide in the shoulders but short in length. I'd stay with your normal JP size (up one from US size) of you want to go with the brand's intended fit - if you're a shoulder nazi you may want to size down one

  15. This was outside the SupNY store.

    inb4 servers crash tomorrow morning.

"seriously if you're over 23 and are standing in line; you obviously didn't 'make it' in life"
