  1. didn't get the shitty part time job I interviewed for. oh well.

move out tomorrow to my friend's place to crash on his floor until I get on my feet.

plus side is I've been more busy with music than ever, and I'm getting a lot better as a result. Despite all the financial adversity I face in the coming months, I could really give a fuck -- I'm making better traks then ever!

  2. I actually did listen to it. Did you, homie? It certainly ain't good.

I did listen to it, every track. Despite the poorly mixed vocals I still enjoyed it. The beats were decent enough, and I liked a lot of du's lines. It's obvious this is a DIY project and not some funded studio work, so I give abgohard credit for actually creating and releasing something to the world -- something most people are too scared or uncreative to do.

playdisonlyatnight - thanks for your interest in my gucci remix, glad you enjoy it. Here are a couple links, one is an mp3, and the other is a wav. If you're concerned about sound quality over conserving storage, definitely download the wav (40somthing mb).

  3. I dug the track, haploid. I liked the variation in the beat and I dug the low end growl that appears midway through the track. When you master, I'd definitely advise saturating the shit out of it and bringing that out.

Thanks for the comments on my track. I don't work with any one thing specifically, I've got a sample library nearing 100,000 files to choose from, and it's a huge waste of time digging through all that shit whenever inspiration strikes. So at the beginning of the year i took somewhat of a break from making beats and focused purely on sound design and macros so that I could more efficiently cobble together a nice soundscape on the fly without digging through folder after folder for the right sound. So I've got like 50 drum kits I pieced together using everything from 808 samples to my own drumming recordings to phone recordings of me tapping on a desk or slamming a door, and a bunch of macro'd filter chains for eq/compression/reverb/delay... all that good stuff.

It's been really liberating for me to actually be able to sit down when I'm feeling creative and be able to bang shit out right away, rather than having to spend the majority of my time finding the right snare for a groove or whatever.

  4. You just posted yourself into the "good hip hop" thread?

    Ha.

    Who uses copperplate anyway?

At least you're real hip hop. Not that fake shit like Oddfuture. (10)

^you're a hatteur.. expect him to post something he spent time on into the "bad hip hop thread"? That's not exactly a good way to sell yourself -- immediately conceding that your product is wack. You probably didn't even listen to it.

  5. yo that was pretty cool a2b489, but WHAT IS THAT SECOND SAMPLE THO DAYUMM>>> you should share more of your music if you got it, I have enjoyed the experimental bent in all your trax

Ghettobob In Ableton, compressors and spectral analysis (spectrum in 8) are your friend. I use a compressor on damn near every midi/audio track i have, and will use the spectrum to visually identify where a bass drum might be leaking into the mid-range, for example. Also, Isotope Ozone is your friend. You'll probably be able to find that online somewhere without much trouble. Great little mastering VST.

Here is a trak from yesterday, please enjoy:

  6. it sounds pretty good in mine, but i got ONE TWELVE in ma trunk.

I actually really enjoy how poorly mixed it is, don't think it would convey the same sort of vibe being more polished.

  7. Trappin in Iran got me dodgin' trashcans

    &

Infared dots same size as pepperoni

are my favorite lines I've ever heard

also, been bumping this song, with lots of other SGP a lot recently:

  8. swype doesn't drain battery for me at all.. doesn't even show up as a listed app in the battery reports. I don't know if i could handle going back to a conventional touch keyboard after using it for a while.. so FAYST.

I'm now running cm7/gingerbread on my incredible. Definitely some improvements over froyo, although I had a few incidences of getting stuck in an infinite boot loop. they seem to have fixed that now though.

any cool gingerbread roms I should know about??

  9. hello thread, I have returned from my vacation and have a trak to share wit u!! this is the first of what will be many 1hr time trial beats from me. I'll post every one i do in this thread, and if you guys seem to respond well or have some good constructive criticism I'll likely go back and expand on ideas. otherwise, just take these for what they are, I always enjoy your feedback.

ps - thanks to all of you that listened and commented/rep'd my Gucci remix!

edit - haploid, thanks for sharing some more muzak. I really enjoyed "Sleep With The Lights On" and "untitled-3" in particular. The latter kind of reminds me of classic ps1 rpg music, which is dope.

  10. I've seen shit like that before, probably the result of one or more of the methods above^

unfortunately, the unique look was the best part about it. it had a shortlived low intensity high kind of like resin :/

I'll take a proven strain over "KRAZYE PURBLE BUD" any day.

  11. I love New Orleans! Just went there for the first time this past Xmas for a week and had a blast. I was staying in a super old (think 1870's) bed & breakfast right off Esplanade, and the proximity to the french quarter was excellent.

Here are some pictures from my stay there. I can say I didn't have a single unpleasant experience during my week there.

    bourbon.jpg

First night in, this is like Barracks & Bourbon St, not too busy there but the shitshow became progressively larger as we progressed further down.

    acme1.jpg

Stopped in at Acme Oyster House for dinner, which was great, and the local police officers made waiting in line for a table an entertaining experience.

    acme2.jpg

Fried oyster po boy, also an entertaining experience. Goes well with Abita Andygator Dopplebock

    abita.jpg

Staying in NOLA it's difficult to not become a big proponent of Abita beer, so we travelled across Lake Ponchartrain (a worthwhile journey in itself) into Abita Springs to check out the brewery where I got wasted off free beer by 1pm. The tour is free, and you get a couple hours of unrestricted access to every Abita beer on tap -- highly recommended.

On our way back we stopped in Metairie at Drago's to sample their char-grilled oysters on the half shell:

    drago.jpg

Beneath the layer of crispy, gooey cheese, these things are swimming in butter and garlic. I ate this entire plate no problem, but it triggered my second nap of the day.

After waking up back at the B&B, it was unanimously decided more drinking was in order (it was Christmas after all), so we went to Muriel's at Jackson Square:

    sazerac.jpg

I got a Sazerac, which is basically just an excuse to drink a cup of cognac.

Next day was Xmas eve and we had made reservations to eat at Commander's Palace in the Garden District. The food was really really good and they have a ridiculous ¢25 Martini special that is difficult not to abuse.

    palace2.jpg

best pork chop I eva had...

    palace3.jpg

tl;dr version - go visit New Orleans you dummy

  12. lol. what is it 2-0 and a glitch resignation? :P you need to get a better word gen.

im gonna take a break for a few days.. has been doing my head in.

I abide by the highest level of scrabble ethics, and I probably wouldn't be losing so damn much if I was cheating.. anyway, I look forward to a rematch once your head heals and I promise to only use words that we're both familiar with so as to avoid any suspicion.
